I'm asking because I originally played the game and DLCs on PS3 (which has been broken for awhile now - RIP), and I'm interested in playing again on PC. For the past few years, I've checked every once in awhile because I'd like to play it again, but it never seems to be on sale. If the cost--$20--included the DLCs in a special edition, I would purchase it without hesitation. But as of now, just as the base game, it just seems a bit too much considering I'd have to pay extra for the DLCs too (which I want).
I may just indulge because I really would like to play through the entire trilogy again, but if there's a chance that it will be on sale in the near future (or again if I missed it), then I'd rather wait.

As I know: sadly DA2 and the DLCs are separate (I don't saw Ultimate/Game of the Year etc on Origin, probably not exist): The Exiled PrinceMotALegacy

They unfortunately never released a special edition of DA2 or bundle with all the DLC, no. The base game might go on sale, but the DLC unfortunately not...it's still full price.

I got at least Exiled Prince on sale, I think. I can't remember what I paid for the others. You could always get the base game, start playing, and keep an eye out for DLC sales.

I got DA2 about a year ago for around $13, rather than $20 from Origin. At least it can save you a little bit and help offset the cost of the DLC.

I'm sorry if this is a stupid question, but how do I access DLC through the disc version? Is it connected to Origin somehow? I'm not sure how that works outside of Steam and Origin.

I just registered my disc through Origin...there's a code that you can enter. Then when you click on DA2 in your Origin game library, you can see all the DLC's available for purchase or free download. There may be another way, but that is how I did it

I noticed there's a Bioware Signature Edition on Amazon... I got excited because it included some DLC but then I actually read that I had to pre-order it before January 11, 2011 ... dammit lol. Oh well, the $13 standard version will work--thanks for the suggestion!

Hmm... with some investigation, it may be simpler to go through Origin. I don't have Amazon Prime, and unless I buy a bunch of other stuff to reach $50 to not have shipping and handling, it will cost the same. Also, there appears to be some pesky issues with registration in the reviews/comments

The only time I got DLCs on sale on Origins was when they have a general % promotion (last time it was "origin30" which gave you 30 percent discount on your total buy, so if you added some DLCs or Bioware Points to your buy, it was for them as well). Other than that I have never seen a DLC on sale by itself.

Depending on whether or not you want the game permanently accessible, you could use Origin Access, which is £3.99 (UK, obviously other countries vary) a month and the whole DA series plus all the DLC is then available for nothing as it's in their Vault system. And once you're done with the game, you can cancel your membership, so effectively, depending how much time you put in, you could play everything DA has to offer for 3.99. If you want the games again, renewing your membership renews your access, they don't go away.
Edit: Noticed you were using $ and checked - $4.99 a month.

If buying a physical copy doesn't represent a problem why don't you try some local shop? Here in Italy there are Gamestop shops who sells it for €8.50, which should be around $9.
