Let me begin by saying I have *no* experience in creating mods, this is just an idea I had, and I was wondering how difficult it would be for me to create. I'm interested in learning modding, but I understand that it's not easy! Anyway, I had an idea for a mod that I have't seen yet... if it exists (which is possible), then I'd happily try it! Also, I remember reading people talking about this on the old BSN (not necessarily about a mod, but the idea), so this isn't really my idea, either. I don't remember who was talking about it--but credit to them!
I thought it would be interesting to replace Duncan during the Fade part of The Broken Circle quest with prominent Origin characters to make "leaving the dream" even more difficult for the Warden. I'd use previous and cut dialogue from each respective Origin and maybe the spirit encountered during The Gauntlet (as well as any other dialogue I can dig up if I make new characters or need them). I'd also have to figure out a way to not make it redundant/repetitive with the Gauntlet spirit, too.
Anyway, I want to create this in part because I wasn't entirely satisfied with the Gauntlet spirit encounter (who cares about Trian???), and just meeting Duncan in the Fade; and, I really love little throwbacks to the Origin stories for the characters throughout the game. I thought by creating this, I can add to the tragedy of the respective Origins for the Warden and allow the player to further roleplay their character (do they care? are they still upset?). It would also make it much more difficult (especially depending on which Warden/Origin story) to reject the prominent figure from their past--instead of just Duncan (some guy that died shortly after meeting him). I could try to make it interactive, maybe with multiple characters and make the Warden/player want to stay longer in this fantasy.
I'm trying to decide which characters would be better for this fantasy, too. I could create/reimagine different memories/scenarios, too, perhaps ones that are dependent on certain plot flags set from the Origin stories (example: if Mahariel was romantically involved with Tamlen).
Here are my initial/bare-bones ideas, and I'm of course open to other ones! I'm always interested in hearing about other players' roleplaying experiences and headcanons and would love to incorporate them somehow too.
Also, from a logistics standpoint, would it be a possible to *move* the dream sequence to their respective Origin locations? I don't need to use the whole Origin location (like the entire castle for the HN), but maybe just a small location would work. I'd also want to make this fully compatible with Skip the Fade, so, there's that.

- Human Noble: Bryce, Eleanor, Fergus, Oriana, Oren. Maybe Ser Gilmore and Nan too? Recreate a typical day in the Cousland family... maybe a holiday/birthday?
- Mage: This one is tricky... It may be more poignant for this quest to take place after the Redcliffe questline if I include Jowan. I could also think about incorporating Irving/other professors. Or...and this may be difficult/impossible...I could recreate the Wardens' family? The player could determine (with certain dialogue) if they remember this family or if they're a fantasy. This of course would be dependent too on if the Warden was a Surana or Amell (and maybe the Hawke family can visit haha). I'm wondering, for Surana, if there is a plot flag set depending on their conversation with that elf mage--if they are from Denerim/Redcliffe/don't remember.
- Dalish: Tamlen and the rest of the clan... maybe have a chance to really confess your love to Tamlen? It also would be a lot more dramatic if it happened after the attack on the camp!
- City Elf: A happy (whether real or imagined) day with family/friends in the city. Or, if the City Elf was excited about the wedding, a successful/uninterrupted wedding?
- Dwarf Noble: Endrin? It may be a lot better if this quest were postponed until after Orzammar... not sure.
- Dwarf Commoner: Rica, mom/Kalah, Leske. Kalah could be sober (this is a fantasy, after all) and actually nice to the Warden.
