I just discovered that all the people who cheated in the Vanguard sim using the game console...you did it wrong! There is a way in-game to cheat the test.

The entire thing is a a reference to what smilesja's posted: the Kobayashi Maru simulator training that not-yet-Captain Kirk hacked because it was designed to be impossible. I haven't tried it but from what I read: After doing the first wave, get out of the seat, go back to the simulation console at the entrance of the ship and hack it to give yourself buffs. I read there was even a keycard dropped under the other simulator you can use to give yourself access.

Sold some more stuff at the salvage yard on Niira, then went to Andraphon to look for a good place for an outpost. It's only for resource gathering and storage but in the end I decided to add a hab so Mike would finally have a place to sleep. Stupid Guardian ship with no furniture! Oooh....I wonder if the Guardian will be decoratable (is that a word?) after the update?? It's supposed to add decorating options for ships. Guess I will find out tomorrow!
So, Outpost HeAl is mining helium and aluminum. I don't have enough resources to build much storage space or a landing pad but it's good enough for now. In the hab I also put some weapon racks, a display case, a couple of tables hosting sand art, and a giant storage crate for hiding my contraband (the contraband cache would just be too obvious).
Next stop is Andraphon's planet, Somati, for a cave mining op and surveying. I've got the stuck reticle bug again so hopefully I can get rid of that tomorrow (apparently I need to fast travel to another system and that will clear it) and then come back because there is a derelict here I want to explore but can't because of the bug.

Yeesss!!!! I can decorate the Guardian! I added a bed - yay, no more sleepless space flights! - a table/chairs and a coffee maker, and then like a dork remembered I could also build crafting stations so added a weapon bench.
The ground map is waaay better - I could actually tell without squinting for several minutes which way to go to find the ocean. And, when scanning points of interest the label now changes to what it actually is instead of just a generic name.
So far so good. Except I still need more cargo space. I took over a Crimson Fleet ship with a whole 390kgs of space. What good does that do anyone??!

Bethesda was so whack when they designed the ship cargo space (and containers too). It's like they didn't even realize what the game gameplay loop was.

Finally finished surveying the Narion system. Kept having to go back for more cave crawls and bounties after picking up stuff from mission boards. Even made a stop at Stroud-Eklund so I could get my ship back that I accidentally swapped out of after taking over a Va'ruun ship. Sold them the two Crimson Fleet tugboats I had collected so I'm back to 3 ships now.
Then went to Wolf system, surveyed everything, and stopped at the Den to unload a buuunch of stuff because....I found the sliders in the settings to adjust carry capacity and vendor credits. Now, they kind of did a dirty on this, because if you change the sliders to be more advantageous (ie can carry more stuff) you get an XP penalty. If you change the sliders to be more dis-advantageous, you get an XP bonus. I decided to set the vendor one to reduced credits while I'm out and about gathering loot to sell, then change it to increased when I go to actually sell it. This worked at the Den as slimy Marcel had over 60K credits on hand to buy all my excess weapons and space gear.
Next stop was New Atlantis. Talked with the ship services guy, talked with the people from the overrun station, bought some stuff at Jemison Mercantile, talked to the tree guy, and finally now stand in front of the Lodge. Will pick up there next time.

Did a whole lot of not much today.
Mike made his entrance at the Lodge and said he wanted to join Constellation. At this point another one of the update changes triggered - when Vasco scanned him, the CC again popped up to change appearance and traits. I didn't see an option to change background though. I replaced the Raised Enlightened trait with Alien DNA.....something's gotta be different after going through the Unity, right? Kept Kid Stuff and UC Native. Didn't make any appearance changes.
Talked to everyone, visited the basement, then again talked to Sarah to start The Old Neighborhood. Before going to MAST stopped off to talk to the parents. Got the recruitment spiel from Cmdr John and told him maybe later.
At this point I decided I didn't want to use the Guardian with other people on it, so I sold the Va'ruun ship I had acquired which gave me just enough credits to buy the Shieldbreaker. I had about 4K credits left after that. So, time to go make some dough!
First stop was Cydonia - used the Starborn dialogue on the bartender to get him to spill the beans. Of course the "talk to Trevor" quest popped up but the only thing I did this stop was the bounty hunter quest to place the scanner at the tippy top of the tower thing. That trek is easy after learning the correct way to get up. First game I struggled trying to go up the wrong way and it took me forever.
Eventually found Moara and the artifact, then beelined back to the Lodge so I could dump Sarah. Talked to Sam and Cora but told him Akila City would have to wait. The parents were at the Lodge as well - oh joy. Then, while they were there, Noel said they had each left a message but of course they won't talk about that until later back in their own apartment.
Grabbed Vasco and hit the spaceport to go do....something. I wasn't sure if I wanted to go get Andreja right away (yes!) or continue my more methodical approach of fully surveying a system before moving on. Took a break for dinner and came back to the second option. So, after stopping at the Eye to meet Vladimir, who provided clues on where Andreja might be, I started to survey the various planets and moons in the system. I've got one planet and moon to go, and then Jemison and its moon.
At last count I was back up to almost 200K credits again but then spent about 50K upgrading the Shieldbreaker and swapping the cockpit. I don't like the one I picked but it does have more room than the Deimos one it came with.
I feel like I'm spending almost as much time adjusting the gameplay sliders as I am messing with my inventory. But being able to carry more stuff, and giving the vendors more credits, is likely how I am so quickly back to where I was before.

Did more stuff, had to backtrack, re-did stuff....typical Sunday!
Surveyed everything in Centauri except Jemison - will do that next time I go back there. Decided to head to the Piazzi system where Andreja was even though I knew that Failure to Communicate would likely trigger when I did. That quest is buggy so I didn't want to trigger it and then have it sit for too long and go all wonky. So, landed at the mine where Andreja was and made it aaaall the way to the artifact when I realized....shit! I don't have a Cutter. At some point I must have sold it by mistake, thinking it was an extra one in the ship inventory. I noticed when I first loaded up today that it was missing but didn't think about needing it for artifact extraction until I was there. Soooo....I reloaded my save from before heading to Piazzi and detoured to Gagarin to buy a new Cutter.
Back to Piazzi, Failure quest once again triggered, landed at the mine again, found Andreja again, killed all the pirates again, and this time was able to get the artifact. I also mined some extra caelumite while I was there for good measure. Finished surveying that planet, then headed off to see Alban Lopez. The quest went off without a hitch, the Shieldbreaker making quick work of the Spacer ships. I even took out the two groups on my own rather than having them help like I normally do. Docked immediately at the station but one colonist didn't make it. Grabbed everything not nailed down, including the Galbank safe items, then turned down the reward money since I figured I had made enough from the loot, plus the salvage from all the Spacer ships.
Now on to surveying the rest of the system.

I hadn't come across this derelict ship before Is that the ship that was basically an homage to Alien? Loved that one, especially that they gave the vents the same aggressive red lighting as the ones in the second movie. The new maps look pretty good btw. That rework was absolutely required though. The old ones were a joke.

No, nothing creepy in this one. Just engine trouble and a last minute rescue. Gotta wonder what they were doing hauling the sweet weapons they had on board though?
Vasco in one of the new poses. These were added in the March update but I hadn't played since then.

Finished surveying the Piazzi system, then headed to Nesoi. I thought I remembered that Andreja wouldn't be at the Lodge until picking up both artifacts so rather than be disappointed I decided to grab the second one before heading back. Plus you can't add just the first one to the collection, you need both.
Nesoi is a planet full of life so surveying it took a while. One water critter and a couple of predators to chase and then shoot. I was excited to come across a Wildlife Research Station on the scanner but when I got there everyone was dead except the pirates who had taken over the place. The site layout looked like a copy of the last will and testament location from the Akila City mayor's quest. Anyway, a Crimson Fleet ship landed just as I approached so I took out their landing party, killed the guys at the station, then killed the guys on the ship. I did not take over their ship because I was lucky enough to come across an Ecliptic Claymore II a little bit earlier. While I've been breezing through enemies with my Shieldbreaker, I love the Claymore so I couldn't pass up the chance to claim it, and I didn't want to risk messing it up by trying to claim another ship which I would just sell for a tiny profit anyway.
Headed back to New Atlantis and first thing was selling off a bunch of stuff. Then talked to the ship guy to make some modifications to the Claymore. I took out the brig and put in a workshop and battle-stations to gain another crew slot. Then of course I had to re-color it....I changed the gray to darker charcoal color and gave it dark purple highlights. Re-named it Second Shot (a reference to Mike's Starborn-ness, but also to the offensive capabilities of the ship). I also sold the other Ecliptic ship I had acquired, a Falcata.
Stopped at Jemison Mercantile to sell MORE stuff (I have a lot of stuff to sell, and even the vendors' extra credits are running out fast! ) and then fast-traveled to the Lodge. Will pick up there next time.
Note: the Hunter is not yet at the Viewport. I imagine he will show up once I add these 2 artifacts to the armillary. I also sold a bunch of survey data to Phil the LIST guy. Vladimir can't have them all.

Not much today - added the 2 artifacts, swapped Andreja in as follower - sorry Vasco! - then wandered the city looking for stuff to do. Did the second thing for the tree guy, then headed for the Well. Did the House of the Enlightened quest with Tahir, then helped Louisa with the power drain issue. Once again did NOT give the info to Zoe. Finally made it back to the ship and am now surveying Jemison. Just about done - have 2 critters and 1 trait to go.
Edit: Forgot to mention that it seems like there are way more ambient dialogues/convos going on in the Well (and maybe all of NA too) that I don't remember hearing before. I wonder if they added/fixed stuff in one of the updates???

Yesterday had planned to head to Vectera to pick up Barrett, but getting Barrett also means getting Lin and Heller and, since I didn't have an outpost ready for them, decided to first stop by Andraphon to fix up my outpost. Well, things didn't go exactly as planned.
First, my generator had run out of helium, even though I was mining helium and feeding it a steady supply. The helium extractors weren't working, hence why the generator died. I plunked down a solar dome to power the extractors but that didn't work either! So, deleted the extractors and replaced the two small ones with 1 double decker. Re-connected the solar dome, which now worked fine then connected the extractor to a gas storage box, and then the box to the generator. Finally, power was back on! Reconnected power to the aluminum extractor and placed a new beryllium extractor as well. Added a light post thingie next to the hab entrance.
Then I wanted to build a cargo link and a landing pad with ship store, but of course didn't have enough iron. There wasn't an iron deposit in the area so I plunked down a new outpost on top of an iron field, added an iron extractor and another solar dome, and then waited. And waited. And waited. 5 iron? Not gonna cut it. Got tired of waiting so made a bed and slept for several hours. Ouila! 300 iron available! Built the first cargo link there, then traveled back to the first outpost and built the second link, then connected the two. Also built the landing pad and my ship magically appeared behind me when I wasn't looking.
For the hab I added a second module for the crew station and some crafting stations and mission boards. Andreja got bored and wandered around while Mike tinkered with all the settings. Finally headed back to the ship to go to Vectera but by then it was bed time.

dazk These are for you. Yesterday finally made it to Vectera. Said hi to Lin, ransacked the place to find out where Barrett and Heller were, recruited Lin for my outpost, then followed the trail. Found Heller next to a crashed ship, talked to him, helped him up, then recruited him as well. I also found a safe on the far side of the ship that I hadn't seen before since I usually just grab Heller and leave. The trail to Barrett led to the Bessel system so headed there. Landed on the planet where he supposedly was being held. Explored the camp fully before entering the main building and Starborn'd the pirate into letting him go. One of these days I will just kill all the pirates but not this time. Surveyed the planet and the rest of the system, then headed for Altair to do Groundpounder. I surveyed the planet first (hate all the spider critters) then landed at the research station under attack. Killed lots of Spacers, found all the interested parties, then headed to the other research outpost. I killed the Spacers there but stopped just before entering the hab. Hopefully the mission doesn't bug out.

Unfortunately I only have about ten Starfield Screenshots due to my PC dying and losing the 1,000 + so just a shot of my PC and Andreja in a different outfit. Andreja with the same figure but wearing the Ryujin outfit I think

I can't wait for the patch to leave beta and some of my mods to get updated so I can come back to this! I'll try to do the main story this time...I still haven't finished it.
