I saw the dragon really quickly, but it took me a bit longer to see the demons. And just now spotted the people in the background.
I remember being really amused over the hands location on the dragon when I first saw the picture. And I still am.
But the details under the wings of DA2's cover dragon had to be pointed out to me, couple of years after the game was released.

Funny story it was either the day of or the day after they released the box art for the game. But I was so excited about it that I posted a huge post on Facebook basically 'guys guys, youw ill never believe what is on the box art in Dragon Age' and they were all like 'what you didn't notice it, its right there'. It was funny/ embarrasing.

It hadn't occurred to me that it might be a "see one, miss the other" kind of thing. I saw the demons first and only the demons, but I can understand how someone could see the dragon first and only the dragon. That's the magic of negative spaces in art. |

I never saw it until a few months ago! Noone pointed it out to me but I saw someone mention in a thread somewhere that there was a dragon. My immidiate response - "what, there is no dragon". Then I went to check for myself and was like ooohhhhhh such revelations. I'm glad I'm not the only one haha.

No, I noticed the demons first. To be honest though I never really looked at it that closely before. Very cool. For those who still can't see it: The dragon shape is in the negative space created by the demons, made up of green fade light. |

And I still am.The hand is over the dragon's chest, so I don't really get the joke, sorry First I saw the typography, after this the Inquisitor, later I realized, that he close that rift with his right hand. I noticed the dragon only later. That's because, for whatever reason, they decided to use a mirror-image as the cover art. It's not just the Mark being on the right hand, it's the greatsword being in the left, when ingame Quizzy has it in their right hand while using the Mark. Here's what it should look like: Don't know why they didn't use that one/bothered to mirror it. And it's not to match the DA2 cover, because that dragon's head also faced left (as above), not right. And for those who are still not sure exactly where the dragon is, or just want to see something really cool, I've been waiting for an excuse to use this for ages   And there you go! Invert the colours, and it matches DA:O's and DA2's covers  And now the DLC images, as PapaCharlie9 pointed out also have cleverly somewhat-hidden dragons. Jaws of Hakkon:  This one I didn't notice on my own. The Descent:  This one I also didn't notice for a while because most shots of it cropped the dragon. Trespasser:  This was the most obvious to me, noticed it right away. Lots of pictures! |
