No quest markers, no fast travel (at least not wherever you want)... ah, good old times . It's not really comfortable, but I think it is part of the reason why the island of Vvardenfell felt more like a real place than many other game locations. If you follow directions and landmarks instead of little floating arrows things get a direction and distance.

Started Morrowind. There's no quest markers. Mind blown. Yep. this is old school no hand holding. If you tak to everyone in Seyda Neen they will tell you where to go and how to get there. They also tell you what items are useful and places to avoid. The officer who gives you the package tells you where you need to go. You just have to remember this is a slow paced game. It is meant to walk and take in the scenery. Talking about walking always do that do not run. Running drains your fatigue which influences your hit and casting ratio's. Also make one of your weapon skills a major so you have a better chance to hit. That might be cool and all at first, but it just becomes a burden later on. I would rather enjoy the fun stuff in a game rather then get frustrated because I'm aways lost.

But I prefer the newer ES games with the quest markers. When I said it was an old school type of game, I meant just that. I wasn't bashing SKyrim. I love Skyrim it's my second favorite TES game behind Morrowind.

I actually stopped playing Skyrim just so I could play Morrowind on Xbox, and I'm drinking in the atmosphere. Been playing the Morag Tong faction and earning an advancement actually feels like it means something in this game as opposed to "go here, collect book; congrats ur new archmage!"Hmmm... bit of a side-note - I hope that in ES6 they'll take a page from ESO's book and just stop handing us every leadership position there is.

And the graphics are hideous, but at least the khajiit and argonians have cool-looking feet.

But there are mods to remedy that, at least the graphics. That's why on the Dragon Age forums I say DA:O and DA2 have not aged badly compared to Morrowind and the original NWN.

I feel like Morrowind was the Majora's Mask of the Elder Scrolls series.
Both were very "weird" in setting and both were ahead of their time. Also, both are looked back fondly at the fanbase although I would say that Majora's Mask has aged better than Morrowind. Morrowind looks like crap. That, and Majora's Mask AT LEAST has a 3DS remake.

"Cheese for everyone!" What's that strange obsession with cheese in both in TES and DA? I don't get it.

Also, from ESO news - we'll be getting another dungeon DLC (werewolf-themed) in 2018 and a whole new zone that is likely like either Craglorn or Wrothgar: Murkmire. Sheesh, they're not sitting on their hands this year!

I don't know why but, I expended like 140€ or so to comeback to ESO in full force (I have Morrowind and Summerset to play) but seems like there is something that drives me out of it, I don't feel that the same like 2 years ago, the new changes on classes and the direction the game is heading, doesn't look very atractive.
Funny thing though, to just obtain a beginner's gear setup I wasted like 6 hours yesterday, nothing really compelling. I guess i'll have to forget about ESO, shame for my wallet but oh well.

Most classes are balanced well enough for beginners to have little issue with clearing most content (save world bosses and group dungeons, maybe a bit of help in public dungeons). I think it depends what would you like to do later, in terms of role. The easiest way to start is probably magic templar, because the first thing you unlock in one of class skill trees is a close-range dot spammable that heals when you deal damage, or mag nightblade, which ranged spammable heals % of damage dealt too.

SO...hypothetically speaking...if I were to try this game out, what would be a good soloing race/class combo? Stamina Nightblade. The class has good survivability with its siphoning skills. They can also do some great damage. As for race honestly any race can fill any role. Redguard in general gives best sustain. Imperial is also another good option, you can also get a bit extra health, if wanted. Honestly, just play what you feel would be the most fun for you. Like for example I run a bow/bow (main and back bar) Wood Elf stamina Nightblade build. Generally that type of set up is frowned on (based on a lot of the reading I've done) but its what has provided me the most fun in the game. If you are looking to get into the game there are some good resources out that can guide you. Alcast and Deltia are pretty good options to look at for guidance.

SO...hypothetically speaking...if I were to try this game out, what would be a good soloing race/class combo? I'm having fun with my High Elf magic Templar. The in game skill adviser isn't bad and is of great help if you don't know what skills to pick and when. Here's a link too all the builds the in game skill advise has, I found it very useful en.uesp.net/wiki/Online:Level_Up_AdvisorWell worth a read.

SO...hypothetically speaking...if I were to try this game out, what would be a good soloing race/class combo? Okay, my turn then? Solo-Questing/Campaigning/World bossing is easy enough, you'll be fine with whatever you chose. I see that Sorc(erer) still got no mentioning, and you will find out yourself as to why before long, but i reckon to be mentioned for variety's sake and for being my favourite class For the new players Sorc offers both good offense and defense. Comes with 2 pets to deal with aggro, some healing capabilities as well. Go Magicka focused or even split Magicka/Health if you're feeling squishy. Go for Destro Staff, since AoE is nasty and affordable. Turn Vampire for good passives before long. Race wise, - the Altmer, if you can stand their pompous obnoxious selves, or the Dunmer, which ultimately is the right and only choice. Oh and, yeah, if you do decide to head down the Sorc path, please oh please remember to banish your pets when on entering cities/congregation areas...

VG24/7: Skyrim still has millions of players each monthwww.vg247.com/2018/07/05/skyrim-still-millions-players-month/“If you want us to stop releasing it, stop buying it.” Ever wondered why Skyrim – seemingly more than almost any other modern video game – is released over and over across platforms? The answer is quite simple: millions of people are still playing it. “Even now, the amount of people who play Skyrim seven years later — millions of people every month are playing that game,” Bethesda head Todd Howard told an audience at Gamelab (via VentureBeat). “That’s why we keep releasing it. If you want us to stop releasing it, stop buying it.” Howard does add that this is part of a general trend in gaming as major publishers make it easier to replay gaming classics. Even at the moment of writing, Skyrim and its Special Edition are sitting at 38 and 39 on Steam’s most-played games stats. “It’s great for the industry,” he adds.
