Mmmm I am having some weird issues with BSN lately. Posted this morning and it has disappeared, posted in another thread and the site had a bad gateway error and the post wasn't there afterwards but is now???? Anyway AnDromedary I am following the same guide as the link you posted. The link you posted to the xGENLod file is different to the one in the guide it said to click on but I have used the one you provided and set that up. I have now done everything up to setting up MOR which I will do next. Thanks for your help.

Not sure how it can not be the same.
But in any case, I am using xLODGen.98.7z (that's the name of the 7z file you should have downloaded for xLODGen.98), which is the one I linked and I had no problems with it.
Good luck with the modding.

So everything seems to be working, had a few problems but sorted them out HOPEFULLY I am not very good at this stuff. Made sure all the "Tools" ran again a few issues there but they seem to be working. I accidentally started a new game but ALT F4 out of it so hopefully that didn't cause an issue. I deleted the autosave it generated. So my question now is do I just start adding the MODS I want to add before starting a new game or do I start a new game then add MODS? I assume I have to run all the tools after adding MODS is there an order I am supposed to run them in?

If you clock (dowload with mod manager" on Nexus pages (and if you set up MO2 to handle the links as indicated in the system setup guide) then you'll find the mods directly in the "Downloads" section in the right pane of MO2 and you can install them from there. It might be good to go ahead and install some of the first couple of mods from the STEP list because they have pretty good instructions there and this way you'll get the hang of it. Also, at the very least, the mods in the " 02-Extenders" and " 03-Resources" section are always a good idea to have. Those don't really alter anything in game but just provide some extra functionality, which a lot of other mods need. After that, I'd say go with whatever you like. Oh yeah, one more tip: When you set up your MO2 profile, make sure it's on an SSD. Since the mods will be saved in the profile and also loaded from there when playing, this will decrease load times in game quite a bit, especially when you are running many large mods (like high res textures and whatnot). Once you installed all the mods you want and want to run the game, first run LOOT ( run it through MO2, hopefully you have already set up to launch LOOT through MO2 as described in the " Tool Configuration" section of the STEP guide). Let LOOT sort your plugins and you should be good to go. Once you set up SKSE64 (the setup for that is in the " 02 - Extenders" section of the STEP mod list), always only run Skyrim by running SKSE through MO2. You can set up a desktop shortcut that you can double click to start Skyrim this way automatically from you desktop. All the other stuff like Nemesis, xEdit, xLODGen and all that, you really only need for specific mods to run correctly, so don't worry too much about it. LOOT and SKSE are the important tools you'll need all the time.
Also, if you want to get Steam Achievements while running a modded game, make sure that this mod is in your mod list right from the start (requires SKSE). I forgot to install it until a bit later and my achievements are all bugged out. Not sure if that's the reason but can't hurt to have it active from the beginning.

ergates I agree with everything you said I invested over 1500 hours into the game. The only reason why I put it below Oblivion is because like Oblivion the main quest is boring. But unlike Oblivion the factions questlines are too short. I mean take the Companions for example after 2 or 3 quests they let you in the biggest secret they have. But luckily there are mods for almost everything. So not everyone's Skyrim is the same due to the mods. Also I do not mind that most of the rpg mechanics have been stripped such as the class system. The Elder Scrolls games are true role playing games in my opinion because we have the freedom to play any role and mods enhance the capabilities. Yes, I am using an ENB and a Reshade by Sswaye and my game looks beautiful. Oh yeah what I also like about Skyrim is the weather I prefer Spring, Autumn, and Winter weathers and I can picture myself living in Skyrim. No your way of playing is not boring but it is the way the game is meant to be played. I have spent hours just exploring and not doing any quests. Only your imagination is the limit. Autumn in Riften is incredible, particularly with all the ENB stuff etc. I'd definitely recommend Realistic Water 2 to go with it along with High Res Mountains, Enhanced Lights and FX, and above all Skyrim Flora Overhaul mixed with Grass on Steroids, which gives beautiful long, realistic grass, all kinds of plants, shrubs, bushes, flowers and trees. Also got a whole bunch of mods that add extra wildlife such as Skybirds, Skyflocks, Perching Birds, Domesticated Animals which adds pigs, geese, goats etc. to farms There's wild horses on the plains and I even have ducks and swans in lakes and rivers! Unfortunately some of these mods have been pulled from the Nexus by the authors as they had a hissy fit over Nexus' decision to host mod collections and deleted all their work in a strop, so sometimes you have to search around the internet to get them - there's usually an alternative source or mirror somewhere. Latest thing I've been experimenting with is Skyrim Settlement Builder, which effectively allows you to build all kinds of stuff in the game, Fallout 4 style - or decorate your homes, add new furniture, outbuildings, roads, walls etc. etc. Still getting to grips with it, but it's looking very promising. My Lakeview Manor is already looking like a small village, surrounded by a defensive wall with guardposts, outbuildings, gardens, bathing pools etc. But I intend to keep adding to it.

You have to manually place it the Skyrim root folder with the Skyrim.exe file. Then make a shortcut of SKSE_Loader on your desktop and launch the game from there. Oh and here's a tip set the auto updates to occur when you launch the game. Then delete the main Skyrim launcher icon from the desktop and launch the game through SKSE_Loader. This in case Bethesda updates the game and breaks your mods.

dazk No problem. I'll just leave this here. If you're going to use ENB you'll need this: enbdev.com/download_mod_tesskyrimse.htmlThen go on nexus and search ENB and pick whatever you like. Make sure to check the requirements to see if you need anymore mods to make it work. Anyway I know it's night time over there in Sydney have a goodnight.

I have not installed or set up ENB with all the STEP stuff, need to know what MODS to use to make the game look pretty. I am using ALL OF THEM!!!
By the way, found this yesterday:
It's a fully realized transmog system for armors in Skyrim. It works with all the mod armors I have installed as well. You can basically set up different outfits and change how your character looks without changing what is actually equipped. You can even set it up so that your character wears different outfits based on where in the game you are (dungeons or cities, wrmer and colder climates, etc.). Great setup and works without issues for me.
I just needed it because I found the old Knights of the Nine armor (which is now called crusader armor). It's a great armor to wear for my paladin character but they put it in with the most gameplay loop ever. Basically whenever you infamy rises (aka whenever you do something that the game interprets as bad), you can no longer equip the armor (or get really harsh penalties while equiped) until you complete a pilgrimage to shrines of the 8/9 divines which are all over the map. At first I thought this is not much of a problem because I am playing a "lawful good" character and usually don't commit crimes but the game is so sensitive about infamy that some random occurrence will actually give you a point here and there. E.g. I was just strolling through Windhelm, minding my own business and all of a sudden the message pops up that I have to start the stupid pilgrimage again. This was when I started looking for a transmog mod and here I found it.
Now, I can look like this without being constantly annoyed.

Cool will check it out. Have one more problem to solve, when I run LOOT it is saying I may have not installed all the parts of SSE Engine Fixes but in the organiser it looks fine. There's two parts to that mod. The first part you install with MO2 (I use Vortex), the second part you have to manually install it to the Skyrim root folder.

Okay click here: enbdev.com/download_mod_tesskyrimse.html then scroll down to v0.494 and click the link. Scroll tto the bottom on the next page and click the arrow pointing downwards and next to it says download. Do not click on the blue link that says start download. That is spam link.

I am following the STEP Guide and using it's list of MODS but a lot seem to cause a conflict and it says "Loose Files" or "Loose Files and Overwritten Files" what does that mean do you know? I'll have a look at that file, I assume the page says what I have to do with it?

Overwritten files means files that will overwrite a previous mod files if they have the same name. I know how to resolve these conflicts in Vortex but I don't know much about MO2. As for the contents of the enb file I linked place them in your Skyrim root folder where the exe is at.

Overwritten Files means you have mods that change the same files, in MO2 the order the mods are in the left panels (as long as it's not sorted, it's not sorted by default) will determine which files is loaded in the game, so you just have to order the mods in the left panel to have the overwritten files you want in-game. It mostly impact UI and textures.

It mostly impact UI and textures. Thanks Just want to add that, if you are following the STEP list, it's completely normal that some mods will override files from other mods.
Just make sure you follow all the instructions for each mod you install (lot's of them have an "expand" button). In some cases, you will need to hide certain files of one mod so that it doesn't override an older one, etc. but they'll tell you if that's the case. It's really well described for all the mods in the list, so it should be easy to do.
By the time I was through the list, I had a pretty good understanding of how the system in general works, so it's a good learning experience for modding with MO2.
