SO...hypothetically speaking...if I were to try this game out, what would be a good soloing race/class combo? Any of them honestly. My only advice with your class is to go for either a stamina or magicka build rather than a hybrid. Other than that just go with what appeals to you. I've had the most fun with stamina nightblades and templars, with a couple magicka abilities splashed in.

I'm used to the old Elder Scrolls rules where stamina=weapon skills and running while magicka controlled spellcasting.

Most weapon skills do use stamina, though ESO also has destruction and restoration staffs as opposed to casting with your hands which rely on magicka. Each class also has unique attack skills that are fueled with either stamina or magicka as you level them up, which can change the effects of the attack slightly. I'm not sure I'm explaining this well, but it makes sense once you experience the game a bit.

Okay, someone's gonna have to explain to me how a class can use either stamina or magicka as a resource. I'm used to the old Elder Scrolls rules where stamina=weapon skills and running while magicka controlled spellcasting. Well, there are stamina abilities and magicka abilities rather than magicka being responsible for spells and stam for weapons - although skill trees like dual wield or two-handed or bow or s&b use stamina exclusively, while destruction or restoration staves are solely based on magicka. These days class or guild abilities usually have morphs (you access them when you level the basic ability to lvl IV) and you can either pick whether you want a stam or mag morph. If you want to make a stam toon, you want to pick stam morphs 90% of the time (there's an occasional magicka morph, but it's rare) - they'll scale off your stamina pool and thus hit/heal harder or have better bonuses that compliment the rest of stamina abilities more. If you want to have a magica toon, you pick morphs that use, scale off and compliment magicka. Naturally, the type of armor you're wearing also influences the build - medium armor is for stam builds while light armor: magicka builds. Though if you're starting now I wouldn't care about it THAT much: just wear what you pick up. I recommend wearing at least 1 piece from each weight to level them all (the more pieces of certain weight you wear the faster the armor tree levels; same with skills on the bar - the more skills from skill tree you have on bar, the faster the whole skill tree levels) Here's a decent beginner's guide:

I feel like Morrowind was the Majora's Mask of the Elder Scrolls series. Both were very "weird" in setting and both were ahead of their time. Also, both are looked back fondly at the fanbase although I would say that Majora's Mask has aged better than Morrowind. Morrowind looks like crap. That, and Majora's Mask AT LEAST has a 3DS remake. Wow really like crap? I know before anyone chimes in, yes it's your opinion and you're entitled to it, however if I may try and persuade you to think otherwise; Morrowind IS an older game and as such it runs on pretty much any system. There are numerous mods; enb, lighting, texture, etc. that can easily bring Morrowind up to Skyrim-esque standards. If lack of fast-travel and quest-markers are an issue there are mods for those as well. I'm replaying Morrowind myself for the first time on console since 2012, and the lack of console command cheats and mods makes it more satisfying when you level up and win the game on your own. I know Morrowind like Daggerfall, isn't everyone's cup of tea but I urge everyone who looks at it in 2018 and thinks it's "crap" to take another look and reconsider. My 2 cents.

Modded Morrowind can be very pretty but Morrowind without any mods is rather ugly. It looks dated because it is dated, but the game itself is still excellent.

Yes and the same could be said for Ocarina of Time/Majora's Mask, had they never received those pretty 3DS updates.

I hope TES VI has well-fleshed out companion like in New Vegas, hell why couldn't Skyrim have detailed followers like in Fallout? We could finally get a game with a balance of single-player exploration and dragon age-depth.

We could finally get a game with a balance of single-player exploration and dragon age-depth. But single-player exploration was possible precisely because of lack of DA depth. Skyrim's appeal was that you didn't really have to do the main quest if you didn't want to - but skippable content means a ton of money put in what basically is optional stuff. That doesn't mean that there's no wiggle room, of course - I think people would welcome more fleshed-out companions and probably the VA for PC. But I wouldn't expect for Elder Scrolls to turn into Dragon Age's semi-linear story told across multiple chapters. Nor I think I would want to. I love TES and DA for what they are and I think I'd prefer for both types of games to stay on the market.

That's why I said "like New Vegas"; you can pretty much do the main plot whenever and just focus on companions, sidequests, factions, mods, etc until then. Meanwhile the companions are quite possibly the most fleshed out followers i've experienced in an WRPG outside of DA:Origins. I haven't completed the DAI DLCs, however the New Vegas DLC episodes are some of the most engaging and evocative side 'bonus content' I have played. If TES VI did their companions like DA or Fallout, I would be ecstatic.

If you're interested with staying in touch in game it's probably best if you sent me a note - sending whispers may not always work, because I'm frequently in offline mode when I'm doing crafting dailies, crafting, swapping stuff between my 12 toons, queuing for BG, etc.

To account for my latency, and scrubiness, i have to lean on aoe, a lot, and it gets boring real quick. But again the lure of double AP is hard to resist

VG24/7: Skyrim still has millions of players each monthwww.vg247.com/2018/07/05/skyrim-still-millions-players-month/“If you want us to stop releasing it, stop buying it.” Ever wondered why Skyrim – seemingly more than almost any other modern video game – is released over and over across platforms? The answer is quite simple: millions of people are still playing it. “Even now, the amount of people who play Skyrim seven years later — millions of people every month are playing that game,” Bethesda head Todd Howard told an audience at Gamelab (via VentureBeat). “That’s why we keep releasing it. If you want us to stop releasing it, stop buying it.” Howard does add that this is part of a general trend in gaming as major publishers make it easier to replay gaming classics. Even at the moment of writing, Skyrim and its Special Edition are sitting at 38 and 39 on Steam’s most-played games stats. “It’s great for the industry,” he adds. I dislike Todd Howard something fierce tbh

And no one has to buy it, they aren't ripping off anybody. Ripping off means you have no real choice about it. Bethesda owns the IP, they own the Creation Engine, they own all the assets.
If they wanted to rip people off, they would stop letting people make free mods, and force you to buy their "rip off" mods from Creation Club, without providing any alternatives. If people want to give the company money for that stuff, that is their problem.
But the hate is honestly childish, when there is no legitimate reason for it.
