Shit man, how many DLC are they pumping per year for ESO? Didn't they announce a DLC at E3? now at Quakecon yet another DLC. Holy fuck, they are milking the shit out of that game, I guess it makes them good money (as that rando in 4Chan said when he mentioned the new FO). Yet when it comes to SP games they toss 2 DLC tops and call it day. I feel a bit betrayed honestly.

Yet when it comes to SP games they toss 2 DLC tops and call it day. I feel a bit betrayed honestly. It is how it has to be. MMOs have no shelf life so they have to pump new DLCs in order to keep interest high (also - ESO has 4 DLCs/major updates per year. Usually it means one very big DLC called a chapter, one smaller story/zone DLC and two DLCs that are basically dual dungeon packs). But this is also why 'live service' model is touted as the new industry standard. You should be happy about it I guess, because it oftentimes means longer support period and more updates/patches/DLCs for an individual title.

And no one has to buy it, they aren't ripping off anybody. Ripping off means you have no real choice about it. Bethesda owns the IP, they own the Creation Engine, they own all the assets. If they wanted to rip people off, they would stop letting people make free mods, and force you to buy their "rip off" mods from Creation Club, without providing any alternatives. If people want to give the company money for that stuff, that is their problem. But the hate is honestly childish, when there is no legitimate reason for it. Well, no not ripping off. But Creation Club sadly isn't anything you can simply ignore either. Every update to this "service" nobody asked for breaks my game. Regardless of having bought any CC mods or not. So their paid mod nonsense costs 30min of my time fixing my game every couple of months. And I may not be able to play at all until these patient modders release a fix. Not a big deal but sure as hell not the same thing as ignoring loot boxes or something. And while some people manage to not trigger the game updates, I sadly can't because of weird launcher behavior I can't explain or fix. CC in its current form is rage inducing to me. Anybody who claims it doesn't interfere with your experience isn't modding their game. Because that's a blatant lie. And we'll see how long they still actively support free mods... Things are moving in a direction I don't like at all. But no, the sky is not falling yet. And it is childish to throw tantrums about the content of CC. I haven't even looked at what is sold there once. But I do resent the forced Script Extender updates so I can even play my game in peace again!

There's no ESO thread here? Just a giant Elder Scrolls thread? lol
Anyway, I started playing ESO on PC (I played it back in the day on console), but I do not like what they've done with the converting items feature. I used to just be able to click on a piece of armor and "convert to imperial style." Not anymore! D: I have to go find a town with an outfit station and just "cover up" whatever I'm wearing with an imperial look. Which is ok and all I guess, but it's way slower and more annoying than just clicking as soon as you find some cool loot and converting it then and there. =/
Whyyyy

The menu for an item was getting messy, especially after they added Morag Tong converter (for those who got the Morrowing chapter with goodies) and one realized that they can't continue with this solution (they added Divine Persecution style with Summerset, and that'd be the 3rd option added to item menu). I'm happy that the style doesn't cost anything when I pick in the outift station, which I really like because I don't tend to wear one particular style anyhow (neither do most people I know). Nevermind that converting never worked for dropped sets, which sort of defeats the purpose, especially for endgame players. I basically never used the converter anyhow specifically because of that reason.

Which is ok and all I guess, but it's way slower and more annoying than just clicking as soon as you find some cool loot and converting it then and there. =/ Whyyyy Because the new system is better, and actually more time efficient in the long run. The "convert item" option had to be re-done every single time you replaced a weapon or armour piece. Your outfit only needs to be done once. Once you've applied the outfit you can change the underlying equipment as much as you like, to whatever you like, as often as you like, and your outward appearance won't change at all. It behaves more like an illusion spell than an equipment tailoring function. The only reason to go back to an outfit station after getting your outfit set up is if your tastes change and you want a completely new look. And the new system offers anyone with the time and the gold to learn lots of motifs and dyes a lot of potential new looks.

I like to avoid the big cities for a while. lol You can buy a house and put an outfit station there There are cheap rooms one can buy for a few thousand gold (there are also quests where you can get a small room for free in each alliance or big DLC zone) and small outfit/dye stations can be bought fairly cheaply from guild stores, in case you don't have crafting writs saved to buy it directly from the special vendor. Or find a guild with a furnished guild-house that has an outfit or dye station.

Anyway - you can get the quest for free room in crown store > quest starters (it costs nothing - you just click it, get an item and click it and voila: quest begins). These are tiny rooms, but they're a good start. You can find houses for sale under crown store > houses. The housing tab is under collectibles.

I forgot about this thread... folks, if you considered buying Summerset chapter, do it now. Summerfall event has just ended and the community managed to reach the 100% goal - what it means is that if you haven't participated in it, but own the Summerset expansion and log in to the game by October 7 (on any platform) you're still eligible for rewards from the event. 100% goal achieved means that all Summerset owners will receive a unique pet, unique mount and a huuuuuuge island mansion I saw this thing on PTS and it's amazing - size-wise it'd probably be only somewhat smaller than Skyhold from DAI, it has gardens, water, views, towers and a large chamber + balconies inside the house. It'd be a shame to miss it if you're eligible Summerset is on sale now till Oct 2, so if you were thinking about getting one, now's the time - if you own Summerset chapter already, remember to log into the game by October 7th to receive rewards on Oct 10th.

Figured I would post this here since it's Elder Scrolls-related. Tl;dr, I created my first ever new location/shop mod for Skyrim that is basically a shady Argonian merchant that sells anything and everything under the sun.

A good old Gopher rant about the future of modding in Beth games. I always love a good rant.
Fairly good points, especially about how you can't simply kill the modding community to just force Creation club.

WTF is atom market? I thought Beth was just focusing on Creation Club for everything mod-related unofficial approved add-ons? The atom market is the official microtransaction market, there you'll buy your skins and all that shit. Since this is a M$ model game, they needed their own market thing.
