yeah i wasn't challenging the Online part but rather pointing out that ultimately both companies are subsidiaries of the larger corporate entity. hence the EA/BW comparison. and this would be the level the strategic direction would be coming from. that will not be going down the level of detail relevant to specific titles, no interest in that, that's what the respectives execs would need to worry about. but bigger things, like say, our focus is on the online gaming with the DLC/GaaS model while the rest continue sweating what you already have and think longer term alignment with our overall strategy, that kind of message to the management i think is very reasonable to expect. My point is that if we follow that logic then we can say the very same thing about every other project Bethesda is currently spending focusing/money on. I mean, the cat's out of the bag anyhow - they've already officially announced TES6, so we're already way past HL3's situation. And the likelihood of them saying "oops, sorry, we're not doing that (because $$$ from ESO or any other reason)" is small at this point given the franchise's considerable heft. I'm not sure the argument was ever that ESO's success is the reason Beth is not considering alternative engine? The issue was specific to ESO hogging TES6's space or development. I don't know what kind of strategy they have for their single player games, other that we know they're happening and there are quite a few of them in fact - they're going as far as releasing new IP prior to TES6. Besides, we do have the Eurogamer interview in which Pete Hines mentions that the release windows for their titles, including TES6 have basically been fixed for a while.

But ESO isn't developed or maintained by Bethesda - they have an entirely separate studio for that, called ZeniMax Online. So that's a bit like saying that there will be no more Dragon Age/Mass Effect (mostly made in Edmonton) because Bioware makes too much cash from SWTOR (maintained by Austin)... Well, there's a bit more to the thing around Zeni/Beth. From Wiki... So i'd be inclined, well speculating really without looking into the details of the corporate structure, to say it's the EA/BioWare analogy would be more appropriate to use. and i'm with CHRrOME on that there bound to be the coomon targets, goals, and expectations revenue and otherwise which would be originating from effectively same stake/shareholders in the end who'd be considering the infamous bigger picture Well, Zenimax is a company Bethesda (well Bethesda founder Chris Weaver) created way back for corporate/business reasons. So Zenimax media, Bethesda softworks and Bethesda game studios all exist because the mother company. Whereas EA and Bioware does not share past before EA aquired them. Still it is weird how Altman supposedly managed to trick Weaver out of Zenimax even though Weaver still is a majority shareholder. Anyway, yong made a video - oh, my then it's gotta be true.

vertigomezDidn't want to derail that other thread. I should have known that you'd be a fellow orc lover too! Yeah, I typically marry Ghorbash. And Borgahk is usually my main "companion". I will sometimes make Durak or Ogol my steward so that I can maximize my orc-y goodness at home. LOL. It's a shame that we don't have more prominent orc characters. Understandable, I suppose, given the setting. But I would have liked more than two female orc followers, for sure.

Wouldn't it be so cool to have a total orc party? Couple of followers, a husbando/waifu, living the good life in TES.

vertigomez @daveliam Orcs are an unfairly underrepresented race in TES. I wish the Orc Strongholds in Skyrim had more going on, more orc companions and spouses, orc kids....😊

Here's a link to yesterday's Twitch stream, from which you can excavate a lot of info Zeni has decided to share Lots of changes come to ESO this years, aside from new Necromancer class! Also - can I just say that I'm happy for Ninja614 (the bearded Twitch streamer they invited for post-show)? He and Inklings were in my raiding teams for a time and we sometimes run content together. Good sports, both of them - I recommend their channels

Not sure where to put this, because it's not really the Elder Scrolls, but since it's depends on Skyrim:
The total conversion Enderal gets a major update on February the 14th: Forgotten Stories.
It's been ages since I last played Enderal, the ideal reason to start a new playthrough (which is also required due to the changes to the gameplay, if I understand correctly).

Heads-up - Wrathstone DLC has arrived on PC. 2 new dungeons and a sizeable patch that comes with multiple changes to the base game. Natch Potes here. Things to note from overall changes: re-balanced racial passives, zone guides, guild trader UI improvements and new Battlegrounds arena. If you're interested in the story you should run these dungeons at least on normal, as they're part of the storyline that will be realized across all DLCs released this year (hence "Season Of The Dragon" )

Skyrim Sneak Logic **Warning - A Little Graphic**
Damn that was a bit too accurate. Honestly though I don't see a good fix for future games. Its hard to let stealth be a working style but also have enemies react too it realistically without some pretty serious sub system development. Even some games entirely devoted to stealth are kind of exploitable in a similar fashion.

The problem with their sneaking system is that when you're at lvl 1 you suck at everything no matter what. When you're at 100 it's utterly broken. Fix is easy in principle. If you're out of sight, it depends on the sound you make. Line of sight is no joke, if the NPC can tell who I am by looking at me at 100 meters away and they know you're not supposed to be there, that's it, you're fucked. But in these games you have to be in front of them to be noticed if your sneak is high. Sound should be less reliable, depending more on the type of NPC (animals probably have better sound detection, or you could argue they smell you). And sound doesn't necessarily tell exactly were you are, nor should be a dead giveaway. After all, other NPCs make sounds too, technically. All these game haven't improved on these systems since Morrowind/FO3. It's the same flawed and broken system.

Line of sight works in games where the AI moves around enough that you can keep out of it. But dumb always here dude looking down a corridor characters just nullify stealth. If they add in things like distractions to pull guards it can work. But that’s rarely done well in anything short of a pure stealth game. I think some of this is supposed to be abstracted as a nod that the game can’t cover all the realities of what a person can do to get around line of sight. Can you crawl through small tunnels, scale walls, squirm through cracks, use distractions(kind of can in Skyrim but it’s not well done), wait for him to get bored and shift around without being ludicrous. Since virtually none of what makes up a stealthy approach is in the game they just abstract it to a skill check. Sometimes to absurd results. It also indirectly makes magic too good as it can help you turn invisible. Though I don’t think it’s necessarily bad to say hey sometimes you need a potion. Just I’ve seen a lot of complaints from people who want to stay mundane and feel magic has every solution.

It was after all the DLCs were out, can't quite remember the name, but it was a video. They showcased quite a lot of cool stuff, like dynamic weather and the likes. Point is they also showed things like firing arrows to put out fires and create darker zones, or torches you could use to light dungeons. Distractions should inherently work, it's something simple that comes to the player's mind. Like shooting an arrow and making people look that way when it hits a wall. They just gotta put themselves to work in these mechanics they've been neglecting for so long.

Quick heads up guys, Bethesda will be at E3 this year, it's confirmed. Not quite sure if they'll show another teaser of TESVI, but here's hoping they at least say something about it... Anyways, back to the cave I guess.
