Did you attack / disrupt Paolo's little party before bringing him the Overseer's body? I'm thinking of getting the Siding with Howler / Overseer achievement. I read both can be done in one PT but there were little details in the post. I'll try to look for more of it. Yup I had killed his whole crew before going to the Overseer's outpost. That made them hostile to me, I was able to walk in with the body and all Paolo's bodyguards were friendly, but Paolo himself attacked. Tried it many ways and it was a no go so I just killed him. In the future I'll not attack any of the guys on the side I want to deal with and go straight to the other side to get the body. Now I'm just debating what to do to Stilton. I got spoilered and saw that killing/knocking him out will change the future. So the question is, would the most evil thing be to kill him or let him live? Ok, I got both achievement in one PT. What I did was to make a save just before entering Howler territory at the beginning of the level. From there, I proceeded to either KO or kill, depending on the situation, all the Howlers outside the Crone Hand Saloon. Those inside, I KO. Those on the ground floor, the musicians and the two Howlers with Paolo I left alone. That done, I went to the Overseers. I did the same as the Howlers although I KO all the overseers outside and inside, except for the two with Vice Overseer Berne. Here, I made another save and a quicksave. I KO the three and brought the unconscious Berne to Paolo. It got a little weird. When I got to the saloon, those remaining were alerted by the dang civilian who was talking to Paolo. She usually went out to smoke after the conversation. They were hunting for the intruder but they totally ignored me! I couldn't speak to Paolo because he was on the prowl. I followed him, carrying Berne. I thought if I throw the body at his feet, he would speak to me but instead, the body hit him and he went on the attack. Mindy was also there and they attacked together. I reloaded and tried again. This time, I just wait for Paolo to return to the ground floor. He would get behind the bar and when I walked in with the body, the cutscene kicked off. That done, I reloaded the save I made at Berne's office. This time, I went to Paolo's place, KO him and brought him to Berne. Cutscene kicked off. Ta da. Two achievements. Spoiler for next mission and epilogue I found out something interesting. Siding with either Berne or Paolo would put them in the cutscene with the fake Duke (if you replace the real one) in the epilogue. I've even seen an image where Berne, Paolo, Hypatia were present. Jindosh was alive and in chains. The line read as a golden age for Kanaca. I'm not sure how that came about. I think it might have to do with ignoring Berne and Paolo altogether and head straight for Stilton right off. Meaning solving the door puzzle without getting the code.
I think the evil thing would be to leave Stilton insane.

Oh ho, I got a high chaos ending. I thought I wouldn't because I didn't go on a killing spree at all between the first and the last levels. It was a few deaths here and there. I guess the overall percentage of deaths made it HC. I also did the microphone thing in the last level. I thought it could be done twice but it's only once. If I had known it'll be a HC ending, I'd done that second option. That would be wacky.

I think the evil thing would be to leave Stilton insane. Interesting I knew you could get Paolo or Berne to show up but it sounds like you can get an even better ending if you keep everyone around. I wonder if it's possible to get Stilton in that scene. I disposed of Paolo and Berne non-lethally, saved Hypatia, saved Stilton, and replaced the Duke but the fake Duke was the only one who showed up in that scene.

As you said, for that better ending, everyone has to be there so he must be. I just didn't notice him since I was staring wide eyed at the others in the picture. The HC ending was awful, I never expected the fake Duke to turn out that way; I think he's worst than the original. I've a few more achievements left. This is one game in which I actually bother with achievements, most of the time I don't care. I guess I really like this game. I think the other exceptions were MET and DAI in which I bothered. Of course with their replay value so high, it follows that achievements would be easier to get. What's the point of getting them if it's a grind? Surprisingly, I didn't get clean hands. I could get it in an early PT but I ended killing Ramsey; couldn't resist, he just made my blood boiled. I got ghost on that run. Clean hands is likely to be the last PT. I think the rest, which involved killing, can be achieved with the reloading factor; kill, get the achievement, reload to an earlier save where no kills were made.

I'm kind of pissed off how Daud survival is canon in the Dishonored series. Of all people, I just can't see Corvo sparing the life of the man who murdered his lover, the mother of his daughter, right in front of him. So I'm rather underwhelmed about this DLC.

So, any thoughts on the new Dishonored content coming our way? I think it took an... unexpected direction. I don't really get the... idea behind it tbh. Mind you, I'm no expert on DH lore and I admit I have yet to finish the second game (I just couldn't get into it the way I did into the first one for some reason) but my impression was always that the Outsider was something of a neutral entity? He empowers some people, but beyond that what they do with the power is their own business... So why exactly would Daud and Billie want to kill him? They're responsible for their own actions and they should definitely be aware of that after the events of two games, so this plot twist seems like a weird U-turn for sure. I hope there's more to the plot there. Like I said, I may be missing some DH2 revelations, so feel free to enlighten me.

Well, the Outsider seems the same as he has ever been, a neutral observer interested only in watching those he deems interesting, but there was one potentially relevant tidbit. The Outside shows Emily/Corvo a place deep in the Void where they see the Outsider as a human boy thousands of years ago, tied to a stone altar, and the cloaked figures that sacrificed him. This was the day he became the Outsider. He says that Delilah had insinuated herself within this deep part of him and he seems quite unhappy with her about it, which seems to be why he's intervening in these particular events. I still really don't get why they're portraying him as a villain. He didn't cause anything to happen, he's passive. I don't get it.

I, as the player in the past two games have absolutely no reason to dislike the Outsider, and from what I (again, as the player) learned about Daud and Billie they don't either. So instead of making me go "yeah, finally I can kill this bastard!" it just gets a "where the hell is this coming from?!" reaction. I'm very confused.

There's a plot twist coming and this build up is misleading. Really hoping for the second one...

Hoping for the second one as well, but it's still weird marketing since I'd expect the tagline for new content to make me want to play it, not wonder whether and why I even want to do that, plot-wise. The first option would just be depressing for the franchise.

I'm actually puzzled by the Void. It's said to be the afterlife realm that everyone went to. Is that all? Are all the souls supposed to be...dissolved? Maybe? Into the whole of the Void? Or maybe the Void is not supposed to be what it is at present? Perhaps it's changed by the ritual and brought the Outsider into existence. Why would the cult that sacrificed the boy do this? Did they know what they were doing? Was there a purpose to his sacrifice? Did they want something out of the Void? If so, what was it? This intention to remove the Outsider could not have come out of nowhere. Did it come from him? Did it come from Delilah? Or somebody else?

So, any thoughts on the new Dishonored content coming our way? I think it took an... unexpected direction. Well, strictly speaking both Billie and Daud* were/are antagonists and the Outsider** was a neutral entity/ally, so reversing roles does make some sort of sense. Can't say that I like, though. Never finished The Knife of Dunwall (stopped playing during the 1st cut-scene), going to skip this standalone DLC as well (the combination of the protagonists, the premise of the story and the DLC for DH1). *How many players let Daud go? Only achievement hunters aiming for "Clean Hands"? **Killing someone for just being powerful isn't a good enough reasoning for me.

One idea I can think of is that the Outsider is somehow orchestrating this, that he, for some reason, wants to stop being the Outsider. Either that, or someone else is manipulating Daud who want to supplant the Outsider. Dishonored 2 showed us that he was once human, so it stands to reason that someone else could become the avatar of the Void. EDIT: Although, I am unpleasantly reminded of my experience with Prototype 2. The marketing played up how the protagonist of the first game was now the villain while a new character took center stage, despite the first game hinting at a greater threat. Myself and most fans I talked to were utterly convinced this "HellerVsMercer" tag line they were pushing in the marketing was a smokescreen, that there would be more to it and the villain would be revealed as working against that greater threat. We were wrong, the implied threat was completely ignored and they stuck with the dumb storyline of the new protagonist beating up the old one...

We were wrong, the implied threat was completely ignored and they stuck with the dumb storyline of the new protagonist beating up the old one... I suppose Arcane could make the "kill the Outsider" premise make sense in some way, however unappealing I personally find it, so my main concern is the way they're framing it from the point of view of Billie/Daud. Who, as far as I'm concerned, have absolutely no right or reason to want to "kill the black-eyed bastard". That particular phrasing disturbs me. My fear is that either the plot is going to give them a reason, thus making the Outsider act out of character by doing something heinous, or they're going to act ooc by disregarding previous character development (I thought Daud at least was tired of killing?) and suddenly deciding all the world's misfortunes are to be blamed on the Outsider. And don't remind me, that's the reason I never played Prototype 2 despite having quite enjoyed the original. I thought the first game was rather refreshing in its choice of protagonist, and we even got some character development there too... And then Prototype 2 just threw that out the window, cause I guess Alex got too powerful and it wouldn't do to have the new protagonist/player feel inferior? I sincerely hope Arcane aren't following the same trend... Kill major political players, kill Outsider-empowered individuals, kill THE OUTSIDER, YEAH! BECOME THE NEW ONE! Very original.

If there is a reason to kill the 'black eye bastard', it better be a good one. The only plausible explanation would be the Outsider is not as impartial as he projected himself. I played Prototype 1 but not #2. I didn't realise there was a #2. I didn't buy it but watched the cutscenes on YT. I was glad I didn't get it. I really hope Dishonored II DLC doesn't go that way. It'll be a great let down.

I get what you're all saying about the DLC. I just killed Meghan and have a world where I killed Daud, yet here again Arcane give no craps and go with their own canon. I don't mind that for the premise of Dishonored 2, but doing it again makes all these choices hilariously irrelevant. And why go after the Outsider? He didn't order the assassination of Jessamine. He didn't empower Delilah, she tricked him and used the void for her own evil plans. Soooooo what am I not getting here? On the other hand, I was really surprised about Meghan's real identity, it was a good moment when I was ransacking her office and realised who she was so I'm happy she gets new content.

So I finished my first run, super high chaos with lots of murder. I killed Anton and brought his body to Meghan, she was disgusted but just stood there...so I slit her throat too and threw them both into the ocean. Stilton is dead, Hypatia is dead, the Duke's body double is dead. Let's just say everyone is dead. The morbid cruelty of it all got to me way more than 1. I felt like they subtly laid on the guilt trip about being high chaos in all these little ways, like newspapers, that made it so much worse. By the end I hated it, hated Corvo for doing it (wasn't me, honest ) and now I've restarted as Emily in a low chaos world. A no kill, flesh and steel, very hard playthrough. Hopefully it'll cleanse away all the evil. It's great that a game has actually made me feel awful for being awful, the last time that happened was the end of ME3 where I accidentally had the worst ending possible. It was such a bummer but so appropriate, so D2 has easily beaten D1 in that regard for me. It also took me over 30 hours, twice as long as D1. Very happy about that. Let's see if this nice run works out, could be hell trying to no kill, no power, hard mode the whole thing.

Knowing that Corvo and Emily get to be a badass father-daughter team makes me happy. May the kingdom prosper!

This is a general Dishonored thread, yes? Because I'm so into the first one and want to talk about it. I just got the second one but it'll obviously be a while before I get through it. So I'll try to avoid the spoilers as much as possible.
Anyway, amazing freakin game. Fun, engaging, very interesting style, hell of a shocker for all star voice cast, and then there's the writing. It'd certainly give most BioWare games I've played decision envy.

I'm studying the layout in the present PT. At times, I pretend Emily does not have powers and try to limit her to basic abilities. However, extra effort and time is definitely required to get to hard to reach places. Definitely more so if you're trying to be stealthy and low chaos. I think flesh and steel is more for a mid / high chaos run. Getting back to you on this. I just finished up a very hard, no kill, ghost, no powers run (clean hands, shadow, flesh and steel). It was a challenge but doable and I had a lot of fun, but it was also frustrating at times. I was surprised at how many places I could get to with some ingenuity, but some areas still had to be left and I ended up not bothering with most of the apartments and whatnot. What I found interesting was that in being forced to find new paths I found a few new places too. I'd recommend it, but I am left looking forward to having powers again. It takes patience and there were times when I ended up playing other things to avoid it so...yeah. One of those runs to do as a challenge when you've already played the game. And if you love stealth.

We've been spoiler tagging the big stuff from 2, but even the basic story is a spoiler in itself for the original.

During that no power PT I tried, I didn't enjoy it. I doubt I'll try it again. I kept thinking of climbing arrows, moss arrows, blackjack, flattening against the wall. Blackjack or anything that could club a person is the most logical KO action. It's fast and there is no need to fight with a struggling enemy. Unfortunately, Emily doesn't have that option. I think that's stupid since she is of slighter build and not as strong as those guards; I'll admit I find it hilarious every time she chokes someone.

We've been spoiler tagging the big stuff from 2, but even the basic story is a spoiler in itself for the original. Oh I finished the first one and the DLC. Twice, hence why I'm so into it. Just killed the douche inventor in the second one (can't recall the name offhand). I have some issues with how the story elements from the first one have gotten used so far but I can wait until I finish the second game before continuing.

If a guy ever deserved to die it was him...tho the non-lethal option is his worst nightmare so it's pretty sweet too. Overall the story isn't as good as 1, but to me the levels and variety of play styles are far better. Also reading the newspapers adds a lot of context.
