- snip of lovely screenshot - So, do you not need to take the first flirts with Liam - or anyone else for that matter? Can you miss some flirts out and take others, randomly? Like, I took the first flirt with Liam, can you miss a couple of others and then flirt later and still get the romance? Is there a very specific trigger flirt that you have to take? Do you have to have a set number of flirts before it'll trigger? It's all so confusing. I don't know what I want to do, yet. She was probably going to romance Peebee, with a side interest in possibly getting to know Jaal and seeing where it went (although I haven't met Jaal yet), but Liam charms her pants off whenever she sees him so idk. I read you can't have a serious relationship with Peebee if you do her one night stand first. Is that right? Seems stupid if so. I wanted to keep my options open, so she could potentially carry the relationship on with Peebee if nothing else panned out or if she didn't end up liking them. The first run of a game is always the hardest, lol. I took exactly three flirts with him and was able to lock into a relationship. I will list the three times with as little detail as possible as not to spoil anything. I did not use that awkward "I'm interested in you" flirt in the convo wheel either. I took a while to warm up to the crew so a lot of the starter flirts went unused. 1. Him and Jaal comparing armor. 2. When he asked to meet at Aya. 3. And the "Community" quest that follows after completing the "establish the outposts" mission. (When I reloaded this scene to see what happened if no flirt was offered, there was no option of locking into a relationship so this is the mandatory place to flirt.)

As I've stated elsewhere, I adore Liam more than I ever thought I would! I usually find the human companions a little bland (exceptions being Kasumi, Zaeed, and James) and while I did expect to like Liam a lot, I didn't think I would totally fall for him. This playthrough is still for Jaal, but the next one will definitely be for Liam! Anyway, just dropping off a couple of Liam-related videos! More under the cut!

And the "Community" quest that follows after completing the "establish the outposts" mission. (When I reloaded this scene to see what happened if no flirt was offered, there was no option of locking into a relationship so this is the mandatory place to flirt.) Yeah, I peeked at the Prima guide and three seems to be the magic number with most (all?) the romances. I played a more reserved/non-flirtatious character who took a while to open up to Liam and act on her interest, and didn't think most of the flirt lines 'fit' her or the timing so they also went unused. But I was able to lock in his romance, with zero flirts picked just for the sake of picking them. As someone who enjoyed the ME Trilogy but hated Shepard's terrible pick-up lines I was really happy with how Liam's romance played out. Here's the ones I chose - it's pretty spoilery, so: 1. The 'couch scene.' I took the interrupt because it's too perfect not too. The whole scene happens with no words at all which I love. 2. Responded positively to the convo about what happens on said couch, and picked a flirt option there and/or on Aya. I'm a little fuzzy on the details, but I remember liking the dialogue because you're just telling him you like spending time with him. It's pretty cute, and it suits a more shy character expressing interest. 3. Picked the flirt line when he asks you to help with his loyalty mission. 'I'm game if you are' or whatever it was. The dialogue's really neutral here. I worried it would be something dumb or inappropriate from the paraphrase but it's just a friendly 'sure, why not?' response. 4. I also picked the one on Podromos. But since it directly precedes his asking if you want to be serious it doesn't feel awkwardly random like the 'I'm interested' one on the Tempest, which I picked to see what it was but immediately re-loaded. It's not terrible, but... didn't suit my Sara at all. And this isn't really a spoiler unless you really want to go in blind. Just tells you the name of the mission during which the romance 'lock in' convo happens. It happened pretty late in the game for me. His 'romance' convos tend to be kinda non-committal, and there's so few of them I was afraid I'd missed something, but the dialogue is very clear. But, for people worried: It happens during his mission called 'Community.' He'll ask if you want to get serious. You have the opportunity to tell him yes or no.

Ok so I completed the game romancing Jaal and I loved it. Starting a new game on hardcore and romancing Liam. I'm not spoiled on his romance at all. Going in blind. I loved him as a friend in the game.

Thanks for all the info. It's a minefield during a first run of a game. Lots of mistakes to be made!
Do I remember hearing Liam's is one of the romances that has some kind of love-triangle thing going on with Peebee and Ryder? I'm still not sure how these love-triangle things work. I know you can hook up with Peebs in the airlock and she's all about no strings attached. Is that as far as it goes with her if you're romancing someone else though? Can you have 2 romances on the go, at the same time? Do you have to eventually turn one of them down? Do they reference one another?
Sorry for so many questions - I haven't been following the romance stuff apart from the stuff that makes me angry lol

That's so interesting that you flirted at completely different times. I love that we get that kind of variety in our respective games. Thanks for the heads up on the prima guide saying the magic number was three. That's very useful info. Based on your list of spoilers, I have mild regrets on not taking the #1 flirt, but I was playing unspoiled and just had no idea. Jaal came in so late in the game (like Zevran in DAO) and I was trying to give everyone a fair chance so I still hadn't decided at that point (your #1). The romance still built up wonderfully without it which is a testimony to how solid the whole arc is. Kristjanson definitely hit this one out of the park.

Sorry for so many questions - I haven't been following the romance stuff apart from the stuff that makes me angry lol Forgot to include this in my previous post. I have no idea about Peebee's triangle. This is a super long game so I suspect that you might have to be the one to report back to us with the intel. =p I will say that I encountered a bug on Peebee's loyalty mission, which blocked me from progressing and she was the only one not loyal. I googled and it seems like there are plenty of other people reporting the same kind of bug in their games. They were able to fix it by reloading to an earlier save. I thought if I zoned out, it'd fix it, but I got sidetracked with other quests and when I came back and realized there was no way to get around the bug, I wasn't willing to lose six hours of playing time just to backtrack. Definitely make a clean save before you start and you're all set.

Gilsa It's good to see you're apart of the Liam fandom I just experience Liam's loyalty mission last night and I was amazed the whole time. Funny dialogue to Liam realization of his self was perfect. I'm not going to rush it, but I can't wait to play Sara and get to know Liam on a more romantic level. I love the bromance, so hopefully the romance will be just as great. I haven't really played as a female character since Hawke/Anders, but Sara seems to offer a completely different play style, so it won't be so bad.

cespar I'm thrilled to see you around. You'll definitely be pleased with the Sara version of Liam because the extra content. The strongest elements from the Jacob romance also showed up here. They are two completely different characters, but they both definitely showed an active interest in the protagonist's well-being instead of being brooders. Let me know who you checked out on Scott. I'm open to suggestions for when I get around to a new game. I'm considering Gil because he was very funny and his story arc seemed odd from a Sara perspective like there was a chunk of information I was missing. I don't know if it's due to gender gating or if I missed some dialogue along the way.

Just going to put in my take about Liam.
He's an awesome companion, I regret using him less; but I'm using him more often now. I thought that because he is human that he'd be really drab, like past experiences with human crew members, but he's freaking great! His character seems very well developed. He's a good mixture of funny and compassionate. Not a character I'd romance, though. Makes a good amigo.

Just finished the game and I romanced liam. I'm really disappointed . yes he's really cute and romantic but there was no sex scene. and I kinda looked forward to it since the game is suppose to be with some nudity. there's only some kisses and fooling around. this romance is PG. I don't get it. No let's bang? here. \: I should've romanced jaal meh. and also there is no "pick between us" like in the previous games, so some romance choices get locked and you don't even know when. *sad face*

Maybe they should have put it in if you skip the "more" option, like with Jack, if you refuse you get the love scene later on. I really loved Liam's romance , but wished there was more, something was missing. It's not Mass effect if there is no banging, god damnit!

Like, the difference between her scenes and the others are staggering, quality-animation wise.

Like, the difference between her scenes and the others are staggering, quality-animation wise. Or it could be the writer and animator chose not to do one for Liam

Just finished the game and I romanced liam. I'm really dissipointed. yes he's really cute and romantic but there was no sex scene. and I kinda looked forward to it since the game is suppose to be with some nudity. there's only some kisses and fooling around. this romance is PG. I don't get it. No let's bang? here. \: I should've romanced jaal meh. and also there is no "pick between us" like in the previous games, so some romance choices get locked and you don't even know when. *sad face* I hear you! I was pretty disappointed in that as well, especially since they made such a big deal with the whole #prettygoodbanging deal. Maybe they should have put it in if you skip the "more" option, like with Jack, if you refuse you get the love scene later on. I really loved Liam's romance , but wished there was more, something was missing. It's not Mass effect if there is no banging, god damnit! I hear you, I really do. I had watched the videos of the other romances after I finished the game and was stunned at the differences. HOWEVER ... I also watched some other videos and noticed a couple of positive things we also gained:
1) When you begin "Journey to Meredian" and are told that you'll have to jump out, if Ryder jokes about always falling out of things, Liam will talk about their first date, they both start snickering and soft punching the other. This is a terrific moment in the game. Even if Ryder doesn't choose the joke option or if Liam is not in the active squad, Ryder falling in the beginning still gets mentioned, but just not as funny. I can't tell if other LIs simply don't get anything to say in this scene or if the youtube videos are simply leaving this content out, but it seems to me like it's a bonus scene with Liam.
2) As far as I can tell, Liam is the only one that mentions marriage after the final battle.
I know none of these make up for the serious lack of naked Liam though, but hopefully it lessens the sting. =p

That Armory scene was just so sweet, I think I actually went "aww" when I saw it. His whole romance is just very romantic and sweet, like cavity sweet lol. I really love the romance, it's just felt like something was missing, even the scene on the bridge just seemed really short ( I don't know if that one is Liam specific or if they all get it.)
I mean technically there is a sex scene, it's just implied.

I hear ya though. I found out about the couch flirt after I beat the game. Doh. =p

Sorry for quoting you again, but I just remembered When you talk to Liam after you're back on the Nexus, Sara confronts him about what he said after the fight and he says that he meant it, that he wants a future.
I swear, if BioWare wont let my Sara marry Liam once the DLC cycle wraps up, I'll flip, lol.
