That right there is a research worth doing. For science. Now we just need them to announce romanceable female Dwarves and Qunari in DA4.
*Research intensifies* Sera will be happy to assist with this research.

Just like Fenris, Isabela is a character I wouldn't romance in a world state where Hawke dies. It seems pretty shitty to have her give love another chance only to suffer again.

While I agree, I also feel like she's in a better mental state to handle it than Hawke's other possible LI's. As much as I love the Kirkwall gang they aren't the most stable bunch of people.

I agree with you both! I think Isabela would handle Hawke's death better than, say, a romanced Fenris or Anders... but she already has moments of being jaded and I imagine this would just make her more bitter and determined not to let anyone close to her heart again. "Safe harbors, Isabela..."

Out of LIs, I think Merrill would handle it best. No past trauma, no "You're the first person I've trusted in a long time".

I'm okay with Isabella's Hawke dying. I don't think she would twist it into: but she already has moments of being jaded and I imagine this would just make her more bitter and determined not to let anyone close to her heart again. I think she would say she's glad she gave it a chance, or she wouldn't have had the good years with Hawke that she got if she hadn't. That the memories would give her strength for the future and make her more inclined to open her heart again to another if someone sparked in her the same strength of emotion Hawke gave her.

Can't say I've checked. Though to be fair qunari women (and dwarf women for that matter) are also pretty stacked so.... Isabela is not alone. That right there is a research worth doing. For science. Yes, for science of course. Where do I sign up?

I guess coming back again to clarify... Isabella may be morally grey and a bit withholding when it came to loving again, but she's lived a life of hard knocks. She had a good clever head on her shoulders, and I just think she has the emotional fortitude to be healthy sad, not unhealthy sad.
Anders would not be healthy sad. I don't even think he's capable of healthy anything, to be honest. His love is obsessive. Frankly, I think suicide would very much be likely if Hawke died, straight up.
Fenris is...questionable. He was literally broken as a person until he met Hawke. It would be a long long long road. Even Hawke took 7 years to break down those walls. I don't know if there would ever be another person in Fenris' life that would stick around long enough to get through his barriers. Not that it would be impossible, just that Fenris takes a while to get used to someone. Someone has to be willing to stick around suck a prickly guy. Fenris will always need someone willing to spend the time and he's naturally a loner. I just see it as more rare for those circumstances to be met for him to fall again.

Out of LIs, I think Merrill would handle it best. No past trauma, no "You're the first person I've trusted in a long time". Eh, on the other hand by the end of DA2 Hawke is pretty much the only person Merrill has left. The other LIs at least have experience being completely alone, while we see how Merrill reacts to it. Of all the DA2 LIs, I think easily the one who would handle Hawke's death the "best" would be Sebastian.

I can't imagine she never made friends with her neighbors. lots of people to interact with that she can help. Whereas Fenris is off murdering slavers, that doesn't present as particularly meaningful or healthy activity. Nor does it sound like he has any friends while doing it. Also, isnt' Merril upset about moving into Hawke Mansion? finds it smothering?

Yeah, Merrill's supporting Kirkwall's alienage elves and is close friends with Isabela and Varric (assuming Isabela came back / you didn't hand her over to the Arishok....). She seems on good terms with pretty much every party member other than Fenris and Anders, including Hawke's sibling, so it's not like she has no one.
Hell, even aside from all that, she has a mission in the form of her mirror or even if it's broken, the broader goal of learning about the ancient elves. I think she, Sebastian, and Isabela are the LIs most likely to cope alright with Hawke's death.

You know how Isabela is really protective of Merrill?
I wish there were a banter where she argues with Fenris over his harsh treatment of her. It would be fun.

It would be nice if we had some comics about Isabela doing pirate stuff.

What is Isabela's ethnicity? She definitely looks black in the comics, but it's kinda ambiguous in DA2. She is apparently indian, or something to that extent, considering her appearence in inquisition. That's what I thought, too.

Aparently, the old man think a character must have done something terrible in their past in order to have some "depth".

Wasn't that part of her story arc? The part about doing slave trade and tossing them in the sea later? No. That's all Gaider brilliant writing I'm afraid.

Aparently, the old man think a character must have done something terrible in their past in order to have some "depth". Still canon though. Plus it’s not like that is the only time she dealt with stuff like that. It was only after who knows how many times she finally grew a conscience for a moment getting her into the situation she is in in DA2.
