I have a very blurry recollection of the time between Nov '14 and March '15 - shipping the game was quite the arduous process but it laid a lot of ground work for future endeavors... Nice to see BioWare devs hanging out on the new BSN. Thank you for all the hard work you do. The devs really are like the Maker if we pray enough they will return among us. I always believed in the chant of light .

I've only really made 2 full playthroughs without any DLC content. I have the game for the XBOX 360 and after I heard that Trespasser wasn't going to be available to me I decided not spend any money on DLC. As well as not making any more playthroughs, since it feels kind of pointless if I'm not going be able to experience everything with the new characters I create. I managed to get an PS4 last years, but I spent more time playing Fallout 4 on it that I didn't buy DA:I for it. I think I'll get DA:I for it this December as well as DA:2, completing the entire Dragon age trilogy. Make sure you get the GOTY edition, of course. I don't know about the PS4, but I've seen it for as little as $20 (on sale) on the Xbox One (and I think the same on Origin) even last Christmas, so you should be able to get it for that or better this December 2 years with only 21 completed playthroughs. I need to pick up the pace. Being retired sure does sound like it has its advantages... I have a long way to go before I can do that. Not jealous or anything I did a double-take on the thread title. At first glance, I thought it said: "DA! I came out 2 years ago today!" I think it's wild that after all this time, I'm still seeing and learning about things in DAI I didn't know about, like the Gate Guardian's codex entry I posted about the other day. Will it ever end? Heh, actually it was more like 4 years ago I actually wondered if anyone would read the title like that, but thought: "Nah..." and submitted it I also love it when you can still find new things after all this time, for any game. The Gate Guardian codex was pretty funny, I wonder who wrote it. That reminds me of a picture (which, for the life o' me, I cannot find...) of a wall in one of BioWare's offices which had some... sage words on the effort required to finalize a game. Finaliziing a game was like... landing on an aircraft carrier at night. With no lights. And it belongs to the Russians. Instantly came to mind.

I immediately played a second character, then another. I google searched Dragon Age to understand some of the lore I was confused about and found out about DAO and DAII and purchased those as well as every DLC I could download. I bought every book, comic, and encyclopedia I could find, the more I could digest.. the better. I just couldn't get enough, and my digging led me to BSN Prime. There I found likeminded people (which was insanely awesome) but I also discovered ME, and I was insanely giddy to discover another similar Bioware game that was available to me (though it did take a while to get to it, too much DA I wanted to play!) There's a table in my house with all my DA gear, my little "shrine." Thanks to DAI I'm completely back into gaming, got myself an updated laptop and new controllers for my PS4 and PS3. I got my boyfriend into Dragon Age, and he's insanely interested in ME, but hasn't been home enough to play. Dragon Age is so much more than 'just' a game to me, and I'm so glad I stumbled across it!

I agree with Mike and PapaCharlie about replaying the game and discovering new stuff during each run. For example, I played DAI last night and got some interesting dialogue from Vivienne while running through the Arbor Wilds. It was also the first time I had her in the party for this quest.
Another first timer was hearing Thom Rainer's (formerly Blackwall) comments during the Tomb of Fairel side quest (Hissing Wastes). So yeah, learned something new.

361 hours for me, according to Origin. My first DAI save game is dated December 5, 2015, so it's been less than a year for me. That's with two playthroughs, plus bits of a third, which I will be restarting with a new worldstate.

I touched on this a little bit in the Twitter thread, but DAI singlehandedly got be back into video games after a couple years of not playing a single thing. I had the same feeling with Mass Effect as well I just work somewhere that sells everything, games tend to be a pretty popular item. That and consoles I haven't started a collection of ME stuffs, but I'll get there. So far I just have the awesome sweater/hoodie I found on Amazon!

Speaking of hours played in DAI, I just hit this mark today. Yes, I have no life. But, how many other games have you played in the last 2 years? Because if you also played a bunch of others and still have 2000 hours in DA:I... maybe you have no life. Like me! Also, since we're here... you've spent 8.76% of your last 2 years playing DA:I (365x2x24/2000) BansheeOwnage Intentional. Among a handful of various labels, I have the polyamorous one as well. I am legally married to one man, symbolically married to a second. We have been cohabitating for 3.5 years. Okey doke, I wasn't sure since I thought I saw you mention a singular husband in the past. Just in case it wasn't clear, the Fry meme wasn't meant to be judgemental, only curious. Hope that continues to work out! I have to be right around the five hundred hour mark. With each of my five playthroughs. Wait... with each playthrough? Holy crap, mine aren't even half that and I do everything! How do you even do that? I find is odd that you worked somewhere that sold video games without actually playing them for a while At least, if it was a game store. If it was a bigger store that happened to have games, that would make sense. Anyway, I agree about wanting to know all the things about the world. That and consoles I haven't started a collection of ME stuffs, but I'll get there. So far I just have the awesome sweater/hoodie I found on Amazon! Ah, that makes sense. Cool! I also have a hoodie from ME, the N7 one, as well as an N7 shirt, a female Shepard art raglan, the Normandy SR-2 model, and Shepard dog tags. Oh, and this: It's also larger and heavier than one might expect. Maybe one day I'll use it for cosplaying, if I ever get a good outfit. For DA stuff, I have the Inquisitor hoodie and a shirt which I am currently wearing, and a nice artwork of Cole carrying all the stolen daggers that my girlfriend got me

So, yes, I have played other games in the last 2 yrs: 3 DAO, 4 DAA, all then imported into DA2, so 4 there as well. Twice through Jade Empire, once through ME3 when my computer was having issues with DAI, and most recently, 1 game of Nox and 1 game of Talos Principle/Road to Gehenna.
I also tried to play TES: Arena but I sucked at it too badly so gave up before leaving the first town. Just getting that far took me a couple of weeks and 1 character re-roll.
Timewise, I'm less than 10%? That's not so bad. Rght?

Trespasser realy elevated the game it gave it purpose and really closed the theme "inquisition" as it is also the title of the game. the story of inquisition is complete. Ive done 2 playthroughs 500 hours combined on nightmare FF. i always get the most out of it by reading the codeci and the war table missions, i encourage everyone to read the war table as they are not the shallow quests many appear them to be. Dragon age as a series requires you to read stuff. i am heavily thinking of starting a 3rd playthrough which shouldlast me untill mass effect andromeda launches!

You should also try witcher games. Start with 2 like i did because 1 may seem too clunky. You ll thank me later!

I'm going to say something that swims against the popular opinion here, but I did not care for Witcher 3.. at all. Don't get me wrong, the graphics were beautiful and the story line was interesting enough, but I just couldn't get into it. BSN Prime had members comparing it to DA constantly, and I was excited to try it out, thinking I found another game to sink 400 hours into, but I was wrong. I only got about eight hours into W3 on my first play through before switching to another game. Several months later I tried again, started over, and got about twenty-five hours into it before abandoning it. With all the comments I read how "Bioware should have done _____ like in W3" I thought I was going to be blown away, and wasn't. I'll likely give it a third try at some point, not any time soon though.

I haven't played any of the Witcher games (was kind of intimidated by the how-to manual of the first one) but after playing Bioware games with so many party members and banter and relationships to build, it is really, really hard to go back to playing a game with a solo protagonist. I got bored with Skyrim and, 5 yrs after it came out, still haven't finished it. I started Dishonored and was bored after less than an hour. Both are supposed to be great games but, if there's no one around to adventure with, well, it just kinda sucks.

floratheelf I had a really hard time getting into Witcher 3 as well. The lack of companions and banter made it really hard for me to like. However, I decided I wanted to find Ciri, dangit, so I forced myself to play. I ended up loving it. Have you spent any time in Novigrad yet? That's when the game took off for me, having that vibrant city to explore and spending time with some of Geralt's friends. And then, of course, finding Ciri I agree that BioWare could learn some things from CDPR, especially with regards to environments. Beauclair (from Blood and Wine expansion) is what Val Royeaux should have been. It has the same cultural vibe, but feels like a real, living city, rather than a nearly deserted market square. I just hope that EA will give BioWare enough time to make their environments in DA4 as good as their characters.

melbella I think that was primarily my issue as well. Though I love Skyrim and have sunk countless hours into it, I as well became incredibly spoiled with DA's party system. After I played DAI and went back to Skyrim after a couple years of not playing, I started over with a new character and immediately missed having such an interactive party. It helps getting a dog and a follower as soon as possible, but it does get old to hear the same "Cave up ahead" and "What would you like to trade?" lines that pretty much sums up the entire "banter" system in Skyrim. Fun game, but definitely feels somewhat hollow in comparison without companions. dragontartare I don't remember if I made it to Novigrad lol. I remember going to a castle after Geralt finds his girlfriend. I remember a character talking to Geralt about Ciri and where to start looking for her. There I remember I had several options when it came to areas to explore with recommended levels, and I just jumped around and explored. I did a bunch of quests but they seemed rather forgettable. And it's funny you brought up the Val Royeaux comparison because that's one of the ones I was thinking of when I made my last post. I remember reading so many threads about that at the old bsn, that and how Bioware needed to do their quests as good as W3 did (which I thought were bland to be honest). Maybe I didn't give the game enough time. I ought to try again and see what happens lol

Maybe I didn't give the game enough time. I ought to try again and see what happens lol Give it another shot, but don't do too many side quests (you'll be WAY over-leveled if you do, as I found out). Just do enough to advance the main story, and any side quest that piques your interest. TW3 has its share of fetch quests, too, especially in the starting areas. Most of the monster contracts are basically: talk to NPC, use witcher senses, kill monster, report back to NPC. There are some side quests that are very different, but not so much that CDPR is what every other developer should aspire to (in my opinion). For me, it's the environments, cities especially, that BW could learn from. Kirkwall wasn't too bad (recycled maps aside), but other than that, Dragon Age has nothing that could compare to Novigrad or Beauclair to me...but the story and characters of DA deserve those vibrant cities. So, I guess all my hopes rest on Minrathous being amazing
