ice! Where did you get it? Ah, just from an Austrian store, funnily the selection of Holosun optics is really good around here. Wanted to order it over Amazon but then I decided its a better idea to support the local stores, I try to spend my money inside my country as much as I can.

What about 10mm auto? Supposedly at 100 yards it has the same power that .45acp has at the muzzle.
.357 out of my 4 inch revolver is hella straight and accurate shooting, definitely not a bad choice for a possible lever gun in it in the future.

Makes only sense to use it for hunting, but I am no handgun hunter and IF I wanted to hunt I'd take something like a .454 Casull revolver. A good expanding bullet in a .45 or 9mm is sufficient for self defense and its SO MUCH cheaper to train with than with a 10mm. Again, definitely a nice cartridge but I don't want nor need one because it is too small to satisfy my magnum needs and its too big and expensive for my practical and range uses. *le shrug*

.454 does seem nice for handgun hunting and trail defense against yogi bear and boo boo.

.454 does seem nice for handgun hunting and trail defense against yogi bear and boo boo. I like 454 a lot, shot a friends Ruger Super Redhawk many times, never fails to put a grin on my face. Its also so versatile, should I ever get a revolver it would be in 454 as it has enough velocity to shoot at 100yds effectively, it would take any game while still being a relatively small controllable package and ammo and components are readily available as well. For bear defense I'd still go with a 4'' .500S&W though, you cannot have too much power for that application. I even consider .500 S&W to be marginal for that task, I'd rather have a .450 Lott magnum rifle in that situation, loaded with 550 grain softpoints at 2300fps. Getting charged by an animal the size of a compact car is magnum rifle territory, not handgun territory.

Just got my Holosun Aimpoint clone. When I got it I was confused that I could not change the brightness setting of the dot, took me a while to realize that it had no battery in it and it was running solely on solar power - indoors! I'm glad I went with the solar panel Holo, its such a neat extra feature, it produces a usable dot till half an hour after sunset, and it does produce a very bright dot in artificial light indoors as well. Very neat sight. So if the battery runs out I still have a reasonably useful sight.

Also, I thought the longer the barrel, the more velocity the bullet has. So wouldn't even the itty bitty 9mm have more stopping power in a rifle?

Yes, due to powder burn rate. Basically, with shorter barrels the bullet ends up outrunning the expanding gasses and pressure that you can take more advantage of in a longer barrel.

I recently became a fan of this nice little .32 caliber (7.65mm) rimmed revolver round called the .327 federal magnum, which approaches .357 magnum power in a smaller package (with less recoil to boot!) and allows for a (Ruger LCR) snubby to hold up to 6 rounds (.38spc snubs tend to have 5 rounds). Also, in a .327 revolver, you can also fire .32 ACP, .32 Long. .32 short and .32H&R magnum.
There's even a lever gun chambered in it.

Vids showing the pros and cons of pocket .380 pistols vs .38spc +p snubnose revolvers.
Ol' Paul also has a vid on it, which i may or may not have posted before but is a nice companion to the above vid.
Fun Fact: .380 is really .355 and .38spc is really .357.

Lavochkin my takeaway from that video is that 357/38 special is better for stopping power. But 380 is better for more shots to hit the target. That kinda feels like the debate between .45 vs 9mm luger. the .45 will bring down a target faster (if you hit it), and the 9mm will give you more shots to hit the target in a sensitive area.

Only the bored and petty discuss handgun caliber stopping power as they are basically the same in stopping power, especially with todays bullet technology.

What beet said above is generally true, but with pocket pistols with their short barrels and JHPs, you have to be sure to pick the right combo that achieves expansion threshold, less you end up with a half-assed FMJ as a result, which is particularly important with .380 which is slower than .38spc +p on average. .380 has a number of clunker JHP types don't expand out of something like like my 2.75 inch LCP2, but thankfully ol' Paul showed that hornady's critical defense works great with it.

My .38 SPC 1866 carbine. Holds 10+1, shoots about as fast as a semi-auto rifle (Aimed fire). Fun thing is, the .38 special leaves the barrel of a revolver at about 900 fps, producing around 285 ft/lbs, now out of my rifle the same load will be accelerated to a whooping 1210 fp/s, producing over 515 ft/lbs. So with the longer barrel I can get a .38SPC to nearly .357 mag level, and that with basically zero recoil and little noise.

Apparently Hi-Point makes a PCC chambered in .380 ACP and is the only one that I know of. Looks to be a nice companion piece for a .380 pistol and for a lighter kicking PCC than one in 9X19. I checked the price of this online and you can get one with a front grip for less than my LCP2 was (which was $300 USD). Unfortunately the vid doesn't state what velocities one can get out of it. I'm curious if .380 out of a rifle matches or even surpasses .38spc +p or 9x19 from a pistol. Edit: I found this chart that has the velocities of .380 from a 2.75 inch barrel vs this PCC from their site

While I think a .380 PCC is very nice, its FAR more expensive to shoot than 9x19 and the problem is you are stuck with little capacity mags, while with 9x19 you get stick mags with up to 35 rounds from various manufacturers. I do not think that a .380 PCC is a good choice given the advantages of other chamberings, even taking into account that you already own a.380. But thats just my opinion.

Mhm, the cost of the ammo vs 9x19 is definitely the big downside, and as far as 9x19 PCCs go, I'm partial to the folding Sub-2000 by Kel-Tech. There's even an optics mount for it that's compatible with the whole folding feature.
