So I just found out these exist: This would be an awesome gun loaded with those .410 shells that hold 3-4 buckshot pellets.

This is the rifle i'd get if i was in the market for a .308 bolt-action. It has detachable box mags and a muzzlebrake, and a "scout" mounting for scopes that's ahead of the action.

This is the rifle i'd get if i was in the market for a .308 bolt-action. It has detachable box mags and a muzzlebrake, and a "scout" mounting for scopes that's ahead of the action. That's an excellent multi-purpose rifle, would make a great first rifle. Only I'd get rid of the muzzle brake, its not needed for .308 and it makes the rifle longer and so much more LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUUDER. Thing is, if you want it to be your multi purpose rifle you also have to expect the rifle to be shot when you dont have the time or luxury to sue ear protection. And let me tell you, a couple rounds of .308 out of a braked rifle will blow your eardrums out. Your hearing will be severely damaged forever. I have shot a rifle with a brake outdoors once, its insufferably loud and makes my ears ring for hours. Without a brake its still very loud but it does not make me immediately deaf. No brakes on multi-purpose guns. EVER. I just got me 2 new 1911 magazines (those on the right), those are MecGar mags, supposedly the best you can get. And I hope so, each one cost me 40 bucks. The two on the left are the mags that came with my 1911. Also finally got my reloading dies, immediately made me some .45 ACP's with Hornady 230 grain XTP's. I made dummy rounds and cycled them through my pistol, they seem to chamber smoothly, but I have yet to test how they do on the range. Reloading is so awesome, makes me feel completely independent and I can assemble whatever load I want.

Nice no-nonsense rifle. Think I want one. Or something equivalent. Just in case it would be handy to have around. I don't hunt.

You could also get a lever action in 45-70 with good iron sights, like a Marlin or a Browning 1886. I love those, good peep sights, hot 45-70 loads, small and handy rifles and super fast to shoot. Good alternative to the .308 bolt rifle.

It's a 'harmless' looking AR-15 substitute. Great to have if 'they' succeed in banning "assualt rifles". I only want the .308 scout as complement for more umpf and range.

I only want the .308 scout as complement for more umpf and range. 30-30 Lever is a timeless classic that has been super useful for over a 100 years now. Still, I'd go with a iron sighted model, best with a ghost ring sight. I love those kind of sights, almost as fast as a red dot but no electronics. I have 2 levers in .45-70 and one in 44-40, I love both. The 44-40 might not be super powerful (200 grains at 1300 fp/s) but its lightning fast to shoot and holds 14 rounds, the 45-70 is fast to shoot and a total powerhouse. IMO lever action rifles are the muscle cars of the world of guns.

Wow, I didn't know the .30-.30 was so big. Looks like a elephant hunting cartridge. What? The 30-30 is about the size of the 7.62 Nato which is the standard LMG and precision rifle cartridge. Even the rounds service rifles of World War 2 were chambered in were way bigger and powerful than the 30-30. Methinks you have never seen an elephant rifle cartridge. This is an elephant hunting round, the .600 OK. Its a .60 cal. bullet 7 times heaver than the 30-30 with the same muzzle velocity.

Bought 50 rounds of .38spc +p that i intend to pop the cherry of my snub with, as well as 50 .357s for my M65, so i can be on my way on becoming revolver Lavochkin. I intend on practicing with the snub by firing two handed, one handed (both dominant and non-dominant), with irons and with just the laser. Bless Brazil for these prices.

Just that its bigger then a 5.56 cartridge, and the same cartridge size as a 7.62/.308 round. But, from the chart you linked (thats for that btw), its smaller then a 30 ought six.

Yeah the 30-30 is bigger than a 5.56, but the 5.56 is a very small caliber low power varmint rifle round and the standardized military rifle round for rifles. So whats this got anything to do with elephant hunting rounds? And what about the 30-06?

Just that the 30-30 looked bigger then a 5.56 round, so it gave me the impression of being a big freaking cartridge. Something you'd want to hunt big game with. Just because of the amount of powder behind the bullet. I just didn't realize how small the 5.56 round was, compared to some of the other common cartridges already in existence.

Well, the 5.56 aka the .223 has a ,224 diameter bullet, in a world where .50 and even .60 caliber rifles exist, so how big can it be!
