Amen. Also, the worst fight/fencing choreography in the franchise's history. Looking at Ridley's poor form it's doubtful the ST's actors trained as frequently as their predecessors.

You know, I love beating dead horses. Especially space horses that get freed only to almost certainly be recaptured while actual literal child workers/slaves are left to rot.
This video isn't ONLY about Rey, it also spends some time ripping on Wesley Crusher and Marvel's treatment of Black Widow conflicting with the SJW crowd.

I curse the day Luke turned Vader and toppled the Empire. Cos now we have comical Star Wars with Punch and Judy quality. If Luke had died a heroic death and with the rebellion crushed we'd have at least a stable government with good villains instead of raving mad force emo and Prime Joker Hux facing off the incarnation of the minichloride superbeing.

Actually, "comical" SW came out of Ewoks, creatures made to sell toys. My understanding is that the original idea was to use Wookies. Don't actually know if that was true but would have been a game changer for RotJ.

More like selling LuscasFilm and Star Wars to Disney was a mistake. J.J. Abrams had a direction. Rian Johnson clearly wasn't following it. Even if you weren't a fan of TFA, it's still pretty clear that things got drastically worse in TLJ. Even without having initially paid attention to who was writing and directly, I could see that things had worsened between movies. IMO, Poe and Finn behaved differently, even to each other. Rey became even more of a Mary Sue. Snoke was unceremoniously killed off without ever knowing who he was, where he came from, how he formed the New Order and exactly what were his goals. No, instead he's killed off and the payoff was lousy. Something could have come out of the Rey/Kylo team-up but, no, why develop it?
I'm really disgusted. I want to see how things turn out in Ep IX but I suspect it won't solve anything and will instead set things up for the next trilogy rather than do a wrap-up.

Something that was pointed out to me recently: One of the biggest problems with what Rian did in TLJ wasn’t just that he tore down everything JJ was setting up in the name of “subversion”, it was that he didn’t replace them with anything. Every mystery JJ introduced was written off without replacing it with anything, leaving the audience with nothing new to ponder looking ahead or anticipate. The result is an experience that leaves the audience feeling empty.

Every mystery JJ introduced was written off without replacing it with anything, leaving the audience with nothing new to ponder looking ahead or anticipate. The result is an experience that leaves the audience feeling empty. Excellent point. Crush the previous movie plot points. Also destroy the character of the hero of the saga, and turn his sister into the Flying Nun. With these revelations, tell... Nothing. Nothing to replace these things. ... I may have never been able to "be" Luke Skywalker... My Dad wasn't Space Jesus. But I could see how I could maybe have been a Jedi with some proper training (there were other Jedi), especially concerning patience. At least I could have been a badass smuggler like Han Solo that didn't have time for hokey religions and preferred a good blaster at his side. Or a Twilek stripper... There was a place for me in that Universe, however normal or "queer" I felt that day. I can never be Rey - being Rey is like being Superman without the burden of Superdong and supersperm and dead girlfriends and shame and sexual insecurities. No shame in her game, just Mary Sue goodness straight outta the original Trek fanfic (great video btw thank you for posting). I cannot relate to Rey. Has nothing to do with her lack of a penis; I wanted to be Ripley until I saw Wonder Woman. I really want to be Wonder Woman with Wonder Woman in the Wonder Woman Scissor Party. Either one. Believe it or not, I'm popping in AotC in a minute; felt the itch to do a 1-6 run for the first time in years. It was my least favorite Star Wars movie, ever. By a mile. And a kilometer. And a tall building. LucasWars is like pizza; even when it's bad it's ok. Edit: finished watching 2, popped in 3 and the wife came home and we watched it. ANH next day off

TFA wasn't a good movie, but TLJ was an excrescent movie.

TFA wasn't a good movie, but TLJ was an excrescent movie. Something I read is that the 3-year gap between movies by Lucas was to allow for fan reaction. Then he would write the next movie. TLJ was being written before TFA was even finished. TLJ did well because people assume a SW movie is going to be good and head to the theaters. Fan reactions don't seem to be as positive. Just for the hell of it, I looked a Rotten Tomatoes. Critics scored it 90% but fans rated it 45%. Of course, Disney is now known for churning out endless movies and seem to want to squeeze every last drop out of them before discarding them.
