She's as much Jedi as Luke was. One good thing about episode 9... at least in a few weeks this trainwreck of a trilogy will mercifully be over.

Rey's first real lightsaber battle (With NO training!) First one was in episode 8 Luke's first real lightsaber battle (WITH training) You are implying here that he had sparring matches with Yoda on Dagobah. Let that sink in. Btw, how long was he on Dagobah again?

Over in time for new trainwreck of a trilogy. You’re stuck with Disney Star Wars forever.

Rey's first real lightsaber battle (With NO training!) First one was in episode 8 Yeah, that's the one I posted. Her first throwdown with Kylo is questionable since, while she did kick Kylo's *ss the very first time she even picked up a lightsaber, he was injured at the time. I'm guessing longer than three days, and Yoda actually taught him something about the Force. Unlike Jake Skywalker.

Luke was on Dagobah for a few months. I'm guessing longer than three days, and Yoda actually taught him something about the Force. Unlike Jake Skywalker. So which one? Yeah, that's the one I posted. Dang it, I meant to say that first fight was in ep 7. Which is impossible since Yoda lost his lightsaber during the fight with Palpatine and if I recall he swore off ever using one again. Exactly my point. Yet here you see people complaining that Luke fared worse in lightsaber duels than Rei even though he (supposedly) had A LOT of lightsaber training.

Jabba’s Palace. The actual worst part of the Star Wars saga. Now imagine an entire trilogy centered around it...with your favorite characters all wallowing in the wretched hive of scum and villainy like it's their due.

I'm not particularly excited for the Rise of Skywalker, but it's also not going to prevent me going to the theater with my family and trying to have a good time before Christmas. The Force Awakens wasn't a disaster, even though there were plenty of things I thought were stupid and could have been done better.
Can't see how getting worked up over supposed leaks and spoilers will help anything. This whole climate of fans being "owed" good movies, taking disappointments personally and maybe/maybe not being able check up on the production as it goes along seems like a really strange way to approach moviegoing.

Even if The Force Awakens "wasn't a disaster", The Last Dumpster Fire WAS. There are lots of things one could point to, but for me it was the utter destruction of Luke Skywalker, one of the greatest cinematic heroes of the last half-century. This cemented in my mind that Disney is a bunch of vultures. They create nothing of value, only scavenge what others have created and tear it apart so they can make their own cheap knock-off versions. It's a miracle they haven't done that to the MCU (yet) If I thought there was a snowball's chance in hell that Episode IX could undo Rian Johnson's damage, I might be willing to cut it a little slack. But I honestly don't see how they can do it. The damage is simply too extensive, and I have little confidence they are inclined to make the attempt anyway. Episode VIII served it's purpose in undermining and destroying Skywalker, so Rey could become the REAL hero. I'm not going to waste $50 to go to a theater to watch my childhood heroes get sh*t on by Disney. then get called racists/sexist/other -ists and -phobes by Hollywood 1%-ers for not liking my expectations "subverted"

The Last Jedi was pretty stupid, but I've certainly seen much worse without calling it a dumpster fire. Luke's characterization mostly sucked, sure, but it did have a few good moments and fictional characters being "destroyed", cinematic heroes or no, is nothing to take that seriously. I feel really bad for Mark Hamil for having had to ruin a character that meant so much to him and that he took so much pleasure in other people enjoying. But I sure as hell wasn't personally affected. Disney have absolutely created Star Wars content of value. Sure, they didn't knock the first big movie entirely out of the park and kind of flopped on the other, but the spinoffs are both at least decent and they've produced, and are producing, some really cool TV material. And frankly, it's not like everyone didn't think Lucas had shit the bed himself with the prequels fifteen years ago. I seriously doubt that there was no way at all to work off of what Johnson left behind, or that Abrams didn't try his best. As I said, I'm not expecting miracles either. But it also doesn't take miracles for me to walk okay satisfied out of a movie theater.

But it also doesn't take miracles for me to walk okay satisfied out of a movie theater. Two tickets, plus popcorn and drinks? Yeah, it can hit fifty bucks unless I want to take time off work and catch a bargain matinee. And I'm not sure how old you are, but I saw the original trilogy when they were first out. I saw Luke get his hand cut off in a drive-in theater as a kid. I saw him redeem his father when I was a nine year old kid. I'm in my forties now, and Star Wars was pretty much my gateway into science fiction and fantasy. He was one of the touchstones. And yeah, I feel sorry for all the actors who found themselves participating in this trilogy. Their talents were largely wasted (and there are some in the cast with serious acting chops). But I especially feel sorry for Mark Hamill. I guess all that's left is that someone sane eventually takes charge of the franchise and creates an animated EU series. Maybe he can come back to voice Luke in an animated Heir to the Empire. Unless Episode IX involves time travel and changing the events of Episode VIII, I don't think they can offer anything that will satisfy me, and a lot of others.

And he got his *ss kicked by one of the most powerful force users. Twice as much? What's twice as much as zero? It's easy to be one of the most powerful Force users when virtually all of them have been killed off. Vader's strength in the Force was greatly reduced when Obi-Won cut off most of his limbs.

Luke studied from Obi Wan's journal during the two years between ANH and TESB, applying what he learned on the battlefied, and he trained with Yoda for a month. Disney canon follows this route too.

They neither need or want your childish loyalty Anyone over 12 years old can see what a total travesty the sequel trilogy is. C'mon man...
