This movie was a dumpster fire.
Good god, what have Millenials come to if they consider this good quality entertainment? I'm Leia, I can play Superman when blown out into the vacuum of cold dark space. I'm Po, I'm just gonna play a joke on the First Order even though I know that they have synchronous communications and they know that they're talking to me. I'm Po, even though I've already stated that this Dreadnaught is a fleet destroyer, I'm just gonna fly around taking everything out in my little XWing. PEW PEW! BSSSSSHHHHHH! Hi, I'm the dumbass bomber pilot who doesn't realize that even if the ship has gravity, space doesn't. What this means is that if you push something out into space from somewhere with gravity, it will no longer increase in momentum once it hits space.
It's just a dumpster fire.

That's your mistake. I just smuggle water bottles into the theater usually, and drink it slow and steady throughout. Trust me, it works. Too honest for that When your paying close to 30 dollars for twobtickets, an extra 7 or 8 for a soda is somethings a bit much. Got to penny pinch where you can.

Now I'm torn on whether I want to see Lando in episode 9 or not. Apparently these new films have a tendency to introduce the previous generation of characters moments before killing them off. That, and if Lando is supposed to be with the Rebels still, he will have a lot to answer for when he ignored Leia's call for help.

If Lando's in Episode IX, he'll probably be a degenerate deathstick addict living in the gutter and haunted by the losses sustained in the Battle of Endor. Because f*ck you, it's art!

He will be disabled, obese and with full white hair and beard! Seriously better hurry and use them in the next movie. I don't think most of these old actors can survive past 2025. Although it will be some characters ruined/wasted in every movie. Like the pilot in VII and the other in VIII (got spoiled ).

I've seen lots of talk about how Luke's momentary thought of killing Ben was completely out of character for him, but I would have to respectfully disagree.
The common argument put out is that Luke was all about redeeming his father, who was (arguably) worse than what Ben became, but what about that scene in Return of the Jedi? The part where Vader threatens to go after Leia and Luke promptly flips out, flies into a blind rage and charges his father with the very real intention to kill him? It was only after he sliced off Vader's hand, heard him cry out in pain, and saw him fall to the ground in a pleading gesture that Luke finally stopped.
Luke has been shown to let momentary lapses of judgment and anger cloud his actions previously, so the whole scene with him and Ben at his academy wasn't some crazy, out-of-left field, action for him.
Sure, the scene could have been better cut (so that Luke didn't look like a creeper), but he even tells Rey that he saw all the pain and destruction to the galaxy and his close friends that Ben would cause, and he briefly, very briefly, thought about killing his padawan before he could fall to the Dark Side.
Just my two cents on that discussion.
Luke sensed his nephew being a threat and attempted to assassinate him in his sleep before backing out at the last moment, versus his father who killed his mentor, hunted him down like an animal for years, froze his best friend in carbonite, chopped off his hand, and more importantly threatened to convert his sister to the darkside. If Ben did all of that to Luke sure, but the latter only sensing that Ben might become a threat reeks of double standard, and hypocrisy. Plus where in the hell was Anakin, Yoda, and Obi Wan? Yoda: "Stop him in his sleep, you must." Obi Wan: "Luke use a pillow the cause of death won't look too suspicious, but i mourn your loss. He was a good friend." Anakin: ... "Good times." Yeah, Luke looked like a pedo, and Rian could have done better with that flashback scene. And Luke could have sensed all of that and more out of Ben. For all we know he could have seen him killing Han and Leia, helping bring about the deaths of billions and the destruction of an entire star system, as well as his eventual grab for power to rule the Empire. We don't know what he saw, but Luke did say to Rey how dark and evil Ben's future was when he was assessing him.
The split-second decision to kill him was incredibly rash and monumentally stupid granted, but then again Luke was present during a previous regime that recked havoc on the galaxy and cost billions of lives and here he is seeing the beginnings of a second (arguably even more destructive) empire in Ben's future. To use the Nazi analogy; since the films like to beat us over the head with how the Empire are Nazis; Luke saw that his nephew was Adolf Hitler, and that if he were to kill him he could stop WWII from ever happening.
As for Yoda and the rest of the Force ghost squad, I got the impression that he hadn't heard anything from them since the end of Return of the Jedi. When he sees Yoda in the film one of the first things he says is how he failed and caused the fall of Ben as well as the destruction of his academy. Why would he start off with that information if he had been in communication with him prior? It seems more likely that Luke was without Force ghost guidance when he "confronted" Ben, as all the cloak and dagger stuff plays more into someone unsure of what they are doing than a person acting on sage advice.
Speaking of the blue glowing people, they have to probably be the biggest dicks of the franchise now. Not only do they not show up to help Luke, or talk to Ben or help train Rey in a counseling/teaching capacity, but they also can literally call down lightning from the sky on a whim; something that might come in real handy during a galactic war. I thought that the whole point of attaining that level of oneness with the Force was to help guide those still left, not to randomly flit off and leave friends and pupils twisting in the wind and/or sit there and do nothing while the galaxy falls into a garbage disposal around them. In a way that's worse than if they just died and were gone forever, at least that way people like Luke wouldn't be looking to them for help and instruction when they need it most and having their requests for assistance ignored.
Yoda and Obi One are all about 'bringing balance to the Force'; well you're immaterial now, and you can cheat code the physical universe at your leisure, why don't YOU do something about this growing darkness that is killing untold numbers of people.

We have not seen one new major character introduced in the new films that is an alien, with the exception of BB-8 everyone else is just boring hum-drum humans.

Umm, Vader had already blown up Alderaan, captured and tortured Leia (in ANH) AND Han (in ESB "They never even asked me any questions!", was instrumental in wiping out the old Jedi Order and handing the republic over to Palpatine. Vader had ALREADY DONE everything Ben MIGHT SOMEDAY do ("always in motion is the future") but the man Luke had met all of twice and had to fight for his life in both of them was still worth redeeming. But his own nephew, who hadn't actually done anything yet, needed to be killed?
maybe he saw Ben as baby Hitler, but this is the guy who redeemed Hitler once before.
I call BS. This is Rian Johnson following Kylo Ren's mantra "Let the past die. Kill it if you must"
If they wanted to have Luke lose confidence over some failure, it should have been in his confidence that he could save Ben too. That their familial bond and his past success could overcome Ben's darkness. And it proved to be his undoing.
Though it's still no excuse to go off and be a hermit. He should have tried training more students afterwards. Have him say "I'm too old to run off on some d*mn fool crusade" to paraphrase Ben Kenobi. But take the time to train Rey properly.
Re: Yoda. Rey noted that Luke was deliberately cutting himself off from the Force. It could be he hadn't seen Yoda or any other Force ghosts because he simply wasn't accepting their calls.

Re: Yoda. Rey noted that Luke was deliberately cutting himself off from the Force. It could be he hadn't seen Yoda or any other Force ghosts because he simply wasn't accepting their calls.
Oh I'm not saying that that whole scene couldn't have been shot better, and that they could have had better job exploring Luke's feelings about the matter, I'm just saying that I didn't see it necessarily as some grand assassination of his character. Then again, I was never really a die hard fan of Luke to begin with, so maybe that's insulating me?
As for Yoda, even if Luke was blocking his calls he could have used the Force to move rocks around in a pattern that spelled out "This is Yoda, we need to talk." Or even forgetting Luke for a moment, why did Yoda, or Obi One, or Anikan not talk to Ben, or Rey, or at the very least use their god-like abilities as Force ghosts to help stop the First Order before it became a thing? As it is, they come off more like the Greek Gods on Olympus, which is fine if they are meant to be selfish and conceited with all of their power, but the previous films have show that they are supposed to care about their fiends and work to help them.
I'm just saying that a few Thunderbolts of Zeus could have cowed young Ben into submission, or hell, killed him when he eventually fell instead of just sitting there doing jack squat.

If they can create whole fleets battling and have Yoda doing back flip lightsaber duels, they can add in a major character thats not another human.

Not only is he a classic character, Lando is also a man. Make that alpha male. Perfectly fitting the Kathleen Kennedy agenda of "off with his head." Being black also means he will only return as comedy relief on a mission irrelevant to the main plot.

The more I sit and think about the movie, the less positive my opinion becomes, especially with the rumblings that Mark Hamill was devastated after the premiere.

I am kind of happy Hamill is displeased with the outcome of things as well. >_> I have had a soft spot for the man for decades, to his credit I might add and I am pleased that it can remain, I mean I sat through: The Killing Joke for Hamill, Last Jedi was about the same, at least he has the sense to call out the turds he worked on and admit they have faults, good for him I say.

I'm Po, even though I've already stated that this Dreadnaught is a fleet destroyer, I'm just gonna fly around taking everything out in my little XWing. PEW PEW! BSSSSSHHHHHH!
I dont need to watch TLJ to point out that it probably wasnt THAT impressive because the Resistance had the plans for the Dreadnaught anyway...
If Lando's in Episode IX, he'll probably be a degenerate deathstick addict living in the gutter and haunted by the losses sustained in the Battle of Endor. Because f*ck you, it's art! He represents a minority, Disney will not let that happen, unless they can say it was Han Solo's bad influence that lead him to ruination
Well, in Finns first movie he stole 2 vehicles, a jacket and got involved in gun violence. And knife crime if you include lightsabers, and technically terrorism. So who knows...
