the score isn't rigged. I went with a group of four other people to watch the movie, every single one of us thought it sucked. I then proceeded to ask around 10ish? other friends I know who enjoy star wars and the all but one had the same reaction/impression.
A lot of people do not like this film. If you like it, that's fine and it's not my business. But for the love of God stop thinking that only a couple people hate it.
Regardless on who's right or wrong, its a good rule of thumb to not trust user reviews. Especially when it boils down to: "I loved it! 10/10!" or "I hated it! 0/10!"

Some people loudly hating on something popular in a typically contrarian or politically-tinged fashion?
Noooo, it can't be...
The Last Jedi is not popular and never will be.
its Star Wars of course it's going to be popular. Why do you think it's receiving all this hate? It's not receiving this reception, because its not popular.

The movie is polarizing, not unpopular. Which is hilarious, considering that "Empire Strikes Back" met somewhat similar fate after it was released. It's only after years and years of introspection that consensus arose which elevates ESB to being usually considered the best of original trilogy. Would be curious to see what will happen with this one.
As of now - it's doing really well at box-office so far and it's hardly like all or most viewers/fans decided that it sucks - more than half decided that it doesn't, in fact. You may have decided that it sucks, which is fine, but you're hardly the deciding voice here.
Me? I went out of cinema with mixed feelings, but after further retrospection I think I'm leaning more towards positive than negative. Which is new to me, considering that till this point I was more interested with Star Wars as a cultural phenomenon rather than a story. It's not that I don't like it, but I didn't grow up with it and when I finally saw it, it didn't pull me in as much as other things.
This movie? It does seems to do interesting things to the story of the whole universe. So while I'm not a SW fan, I think I'm curious about what's going to happen in the next movie.

It certainly doesn't give you a nuanced reason for why it was loved or hated. Especially given your tastes can be very different from whoever posted that review.
Still, it does confirm that, yes that many viewers did hate the movie. For whatever reason/s.

And I, after mixed feelings, have decided that this movie is Rian Johnson's fanfiction and I will be rereading the Heir to the Empire trilogy to cleanse my mind.

Some of us don't need years and years to figure out how this movie will pan out. Why reasoning with Disney War fans is pointless because you guys just can't process fast enough how bad these movies really are.

Huh... I stated in my previous comment that I'm not a SW fan overall, and you call me "Disney War fan" and assume lower IQ merely on a basis of having a different opinion from yours.
I'm afraid that this comment speaks more of you than it does of me and further discussion is indeed pointless.

The brother-in-law and I are going to see it again tomorrow afternoon I guess we're just "fake" Star Wars fans... who have seen all the movies, read some of the books, read some of the comics, seen all the animated series, and have lots of SW merch including t-shirts and figurines.

Bruh, this page is so much more fun and enjoyable if you just block the shithead nerd brigade. It's kind of hilarious because when I come to this thread half of it is not visible to me AND I LOVE IT.

I can't say I suspected for it to end differently, but I sort of hoped that it wouldn't happen this fast

Well, I'm a casual fan of series myself, at most. And I still think this movie was a mess. When you have this much asspulls, incoherent writing, and the most obvious violations of the original lore. I don't really think it's just a case of having a different opinion. It's more of a case of having poor taste.

Plus the difference being that the majority of TESB's criticisms were centered on it's darker tone in comparison to it's predecessor's camp comfy atmosphere, and not the plethora of inconsistencies introduced that conflicts with or muddles the information that was presented in the past six films of the franchise.

I'm old enough that I grew up on the original trilogy (and as a fantasy/scifi geek, Luke Skywalker was basically a childhood hero)
So y'all can excuse me if Disney decided to make him an utter failure at life after Endor so they can build up their new Chosen One makes me a bit salty...

First, opinions are both subjective & objective. Something akin to all subjective is a cat being excited at the sight of shiny objects. And that's exactly what Disney is doing in assuming all they need is the classic Star Wars aesthetics into fooling everyone to think "It's Star Wars!").
Second, it called standards, and many traded that in when you allowed Disney to shit diarrhea all over your face with TFA and said it was awesome. Disney was all like "Cool, we can get away with this, full steam ahead." But now that spell is wearing off. I mean, check out all the YT channels that praised TFA (even Red Letter Media), most are ashamed to now admit they were on Disney crack when they made those reviews. It's really quite funny (well, to us who weren't fooled, that is).

Where in the EU he had his ups and downs, his victories and defeats, but at the end of the day? He rebuilt the Jedi Order, protected the New Republic, saw the end of the Galactic Civil War, got married, had kids, he lived a rich and fulfilled life post Endor.
>_> Doesn't that sound better?

Oh really?
Red Letter actually is fair and critical of the new movie?
I am amazed given that joke of a Plinkett review on The Force Awakens.
Let the past die huh you piss poor Jacen Solo ripoff?

Not "artistic" enough I guess.
Admittedly shit got bad later on, his wife died(Because his Nephew), he ended up having to send his Niece to kill his Nephew but still.
He lived, it wasn't all bad, he had his defeats, his victories, Palpatine came back, Luke fell to the Dark Side , but he came back from it, yadda yadda, this would get very long if I listed off everything just from Truce at Bakura to let's say...Dark Empire II
Little lone if I mentioned everything from Post Endor to let's say...Legacy.
But yeah, he beat threats back, defeated Dark Siders, saved the Republic, was generally just a Hero, occasionally something else but usually a Hero, a fallible Hero mind you, he lost, got his ass beat sometimes, but he usually got back up.
