I don't really care about any sport but soccer-- and olympic soccer is garbage. Not to mention I'm kinda disappointed they let Russia participate despite all those doping scandals in Russian sports. So I won't watch.
Yeah, I was rather irritated about that. Somewhere, I think Putin or the Foreign Ministry put 'pressure' on the IOC to not make a blanket ban.
Ironically, several Russian athletes themselves boycotted the games out of disgust for their teammates doping.
I'll watch it just so I can see the hilarious fuckups that are bound to happen.
One of the Russian diplomats is already suspected of being involved in a shooting, some of the athletes got robbed and someone in a building tried to dump water out of their window to put out the Olympic torch.
Why they decided to host the Olympics in what is essentially a third world shithole, i'll never know, but i'll definitely laugh.
Because greed, I am sure a lot of palms got greased heavily to make it happen.
As far as location?
Well...Stupidity.
Like that massive stadium Canada built for the Olympics but never got to use.

Decided to watch women soccer for the 1st time in my life It's actually not that bad, I'm kinda impressed.
Watching USA vs France, rooting for France 'cause I support male France team either. Besides, I heard 'Murica gals win all the time, they need to give a chance to others
------------------------------------------------------- - Are all believers idiots? - Of course not, it's just the insignificant 90% that make the rest look bad.

The US scored and that was a nice attack.

Nah. The reason we win is because we're the best.
May the best man win right?
All in good spirit. If we lose, we deserved it. Tough and competent is what we strive to be as Americans, and when we don't meet those values, we don't get to be the best.
Sorry if I come off as a overly-patriotic sometimes (at least, to you guys). But I believe in a place where we are the best. I strive for and fight for it, as do our competitors and athletes. It's not something that's inherently ours, but it's something that we strive to gain. To do otherwise would be utterly un-American.
My philosophy on it: The best are those who deserve to be. If we aren't the best, then we didn't deserve it.
That depends on what you think the Olympic spirit is about.
I think it's about victory. Pure and simple.
Well...
"The most important thing in the Olympic Games is not winning but taking part; the essential thing in life is not conquering but fighting well."
And it's not really a thought or an opinion, at this point...
It actually is an opinion, honestly. I don't care what some rat-fink bureaucrat behind a table at the IOC calls it. I only care about what my country expects from me with all the money and time they invested on me to be a world-class competitor. You think any of those athletes go to the game playing to lose for fun? They go to win. They go to do their countries proud. Sure, they can be happy to participate, but they're all there to be the best. They're all there with their eyes on Gold. They didn't train their asses off as hard as they could for years on end just to participate.
That's your philosophy in life. I follow a more aggressive zeitgeist.
I don't just play to participate. I participate to win. I play to succeed. I play to be victorious. I play because I want to prove to the world and myself that I'm the best.
I'd consider it a wasted trip if I didn't have anything to show for my effort and achievements. On that note, if I didn't win, I didn't deserve to win. I'm not there to make friends, though I won't shun them or turn down offered friendships or relationships. I'm there to compete.
To quote General George Smith Patton, "I wouldn't give a hoot in hell to man who lost, and laughed."
Awesome results in the Women's 4x100m Freestyle Relay. Gold and a WR for the Aussies; Bronze for Canada and their first medal in that event for 40 years!
Rich people using legal supplements and state of the art, scientifically tested gyms and routines VS Lesotho.
The last olympics I watched some of the African runners had forgone things like bras under their shirts because they couldn't afford bras and plane tickets.
So on top of competing against the odds they had to do it with their breasts literally falling out the sides of their shirts.
Humiliating poorer countries, while telling poor people everywhere they can achieve anything if they'd only just believe in themselves for once.
That's what the Olympics is really all about.
After 5 years and $40 million they give you a Mass Effect beta demo to prepare for Anthem. Sold at full price featuring never to be resolved cliffhangers. BioWare is over Pyjaks.
Wow! Katinka Hosszu of Hungary shattered the world record in the Women's 400m Individual medley. Not just by a little, she crushed it! Now that's how you do it. Very Impressive!
Yarpen Zigrin recounting a meeting with Yennefer of Vengerberg to Geralt and Ciri, "I came across her at the market in Gors Velen." he recounted. "She barely noticed me-she spat like a she-cat and insulted my deceased mother horribly. I fled for all I was worth, but she shouted after me that she'd catch up with me one day and make grass grow out my arse." Ciri giggled, imagining Yarpen with the grass. Blood of Elves

The Magyar's are doing pretty well in these games. Quite surprised honestly.
Netherlands female bicycle rider crashes during descent of road race. Looked really bad!
