I have been firmly attached to the idea of that cobwebby library actually being used by Alexius as his laboratory. Instead, he helps the inquistion invisibly. Me too! I was actually wondering if that area was put there for some future content that was never added. [edit] If you meet the criteria, I do wish he had been stationed there and that we could talk to him a bit. You can ask Dorian whether he's seen Alexius in Haven after you return (and I assume in Skyhold if the dialogue isn't taken in Haven). He says he hasn't, explains why he's reluctant to do so, but that he might eventually. That's all. For someone who was such an important part of his life, and one he still cares for, it seems a shame that it was left unresolved in that way (for the player, at least).

I finally watched it -- fascinating. I was expecting it to be pretty boring, but the guy's sheer enthusiasm jumps right out of the video and it's hard not to be entertained while being educated. I also do very much like the he acknowledged that he nitpicks, and also understands the realities of game design (making something easily navigable for the player). That was the best of such videos I've ever seen. In fact, I liked it so much that I'm off to watch his review of Skyrim's Whiterun, since I'm currently playing that.

I have never understood the function of castles and fortress during the ages of Arlathan, where people could shapeshift into dragons (or any other flying animal)or literally move entire buldings in the sky....why a castle with pseudo-medieval ascetics and defences would have been functional for Solas back in the time of the Evanuris?
For us medieval castles are not useful anymore for defence because among the other things their walls can't stop an airplane,so with all those mages-dragons in Arlathan why the need of castles?

The fortress of Skyhold was built by Fereldens fairly recently, it doesn't date to Elvenahn.

Funnily enough I watched that video recently too whilst passing time. I found it interesting and educational although he didn't touch on a couple things that I did happen to notice about Skyhold.
My nitpicks are that the Inquisitor's quarters are totally open to the cold, sub-zero, frigid mountain air with no option to close the doors. Then there are several cutscenes which take place on the balcony-Josephine's for example apparently taking HOURS and neither of them show any signs of being cold despite the environment and their time exposed to it. (Note, I also nitpick Skyrim's female iron and steel armours for similar unsuitability for Skyrim's climate. I won't even get started on the steel plate armour or I'd be here all day.)
Related to the climate is Skyhold's apparent isolation. I'm not sure its practical with the sheer amount of effort and resources it would take to set up supply lines and lug loads of food, wood and water to it. But given the Inquisition doesn't really have a choice I suppose its understandable.

Given the grass, garden and trees, I was under the impression that there was some elven magic afoot that maintained a temperate climate in and around the fortress despite the frigid surroundings.

The same thought occurred to me Heimdall, I was admittedly assuming the 'temperate magic' effect was contained on the lower levels only where the grass, garden and trees actually were. Its possible the effect extends to the whole fortress. Too bad we can't order some of our minions to test this theory.
