So, I'm curious. Anyone here is into this game? There I was the other day watching this dude play on twitch, I was never interested before, but seemed like fun. So I start playing a couple of days ago and it's actually quite fun. For all of you that have no idea what the game is about, it's basically an MMO, but not quite. It's described as a "third person shooter co-op game" and yeah that's basically what it is. It's F2P, so no monthly subscriptions. Of course it does have microtran$actions, but for now it doesn't feel like P2W. I heard the term "pay to be lazy" and that probably describes it: You can basically buy this special currency that allows you to unlock weapons and shit asap and bypass blueprints and what have you, or you do it the normal way getting the blue prints and crafting the item on your own. And there's a lot of customization shit you can buy too, but then it's just customization. At least for now this doesn't bother me. Has a nice combat system, pretty fun. Heaps of guns and weapon types. Good (for the most part) movement for the player, and decent graphics especially for and MMO type of game and especially for a 2013 one. I like it because most of the missions you can do on your own, no need to find a party or something. Combat is really fun and well done, that's probably the most appealing part. It does have a very slim pseudo story/main quest, that acts as a tutorial at first. Then you just do various types of missions in all the planets on our system. I wanted to know if we have any experienced people around these parts (or anyone actually), I'm quite noob still and there're some things I don't understand.

I've played for quite a while, I'm pretty casual though and there's a lot of stuff I don't have yet (compared to others with the same amount of hours in). "Free to grind, pay to be lazy / look good" is probably a pretty good way to describe it

I've played quite a bit of Warframe -- probably a hundred hours or so -- but it's been a long time since I was a regular player and frankly all the changes made over about the last year are pretty foreign to me. It's a good game and there was a time when I'd spend hours every day playing it. Then other games came out and some of the changes the devs made started to irk me, so my interest waned. These days I just kind of pop in irregularly to shoot some mans with goofy weaponry and do some ninja stuff. It's still pretty fun on occasion.
I do think they've got one of the more fair free to play business models, and given the fact that the game is still going strong and being actively developed after 3 years, it must be working.

I've played it since it was referred as similar to ME3MP. It is "a bit" similar but feels quite different. Focus is here even more on mobility and that is modeled really well. They have a very dedicated animation team and that really shows when you play the characters. Powers handle differently, I like ME3 powers better the way they are designed - Warframe is more about the mayhem and onslaught. Definitely worth a try. I started out paying nothing when I was short for cash. Now some 3 years in I have bought a couple of plat currency on discount and spent most of it on cosmetics and "potatoes" and item and character slots. Slots are the only thing you cannot earn, but you need them to expand your arsenal. Any plat you get - put it into slots when you start. You'll want that variety to pick from.

I watched this on stream several times but it has never caught my interest; most of the time the streamer is battling hordes and I hardly see any ongoing story chapters whatever. Combat movement, the types of classes and armor look interesting, that's the only thing I can say about it.

Combat movement, the types of classes and armor look interesting, that's the only thing I can say about it. Story has been long neglected during development. They have however done a couple of work and mission questing with quite strong story elements last year. You can also unlock background bits by collecting fragments over time. That pieces together some puzzle of what happened in the past and how the setting came to being. When I started out there was pretty much no story and background at all.

I still don't understand shiet of what's going on anyways in terms of story But it's a pseudo MMO, I didn't expect it to have any story at all. The quest system is cool enough, plus the gameplay. I'm sold. ____ My only complain right now is how you're forced to acquire platinum (real money currency) to buy yourself inventory slots in order to make room for your ever expanding arsenal. That kinda sucks, however you can apparently trade in-game stuff for platinum to other players. Haven't tried that yet, still not cool. Tried a couple of missions with a random lobby today. Wasn't expecting anything from randoms, and thus I was not disappointed. Muttafuckas are the selfish A-holes you could ever possibly met. Just rushing through the entire map killing everything as if they had something to prove in some dick measuring contest or some such. Not even waiting for other player in the elevators, they just rush and get the hell away from anyone to do the killing (or whatever the heck has to be done) themselves. Then again, just randoms... However that type of behavior could prove useful in at least one type of mission: interception. You know, the one you have to hold a bunch of "flag zones" against infinite lolspawns of enemies until you complete the transference. Those are pretty much impossible to achieve in solo mode. Archwing missions are a pain for me haha. Controlling that flying thing is a bit weird, the sensitivity increases by a tenth-fold for some unknown reason, plus you have some really weird map layouts that confuse the heck out of you. I'm getting the hang of it however. It changes completely the combat since you have to think different of what you usually do on normal missions.

I'm getting the hang of it however. It changes completely the combat since you have to think different of what you usually do on normal missions. Yeah, slots are the real botleneck. You can try in the tradechat fo plat - prime items are usually sought most, but for that you need some in the first place, then there is also Maroo's Bazar where you can offer and buy items from players directly in game - people have their offers floating over their heads and trading there doesn't require dojo (clan) access iirc. Rushing though is pretty much standard in most maps. You should see me when I get lost on a new map tileset, lol. Then I am like the noobiest noob, too. You can expect someone to have OP gear for that mission, but occasionally you'll meet players that are challenged with their loadout. "hold the objective" maps like defence and interception sees more tactical use of abilities - especially in higher levels. Archwing isn't played very much, you can expect many people with fairly crappy gear having difficulties handling the enemy - you simply cannot expect to get carried like in the other modes.

That kinda sucks, however you can apparently trade in-game stuff for platinum to other players. Haven't tried that yet, still not cool. ... Story / Lore - over the last year or so they've added a few quests (including a couple of cinematic quests) that drop quite a bit of lore. I don't know how far along you are so I won't spoil anything, but the Natah -> Second Dream -> War Within quest line fleshes out a lot of information about some major characters and the nature of the "player character" (so to speak). The rest of the lore is, a catastrophy said, scattered throughout various codex entries and other places. Platinum / Slots - you can get discount codes for plat as daily login rewards - 20%, 50%, or 75%. The 75% ones are obviously rare (I've gotten one in all my time playing, others have had better luck). If I get a 20% one I'll buy $10 worth of plat for $8, if I get 50% or 75% I'll buy a little more. That's enabled me to build up a bit of stockpile to buy slots or the odd cosmetic item when I need / want them. In my 2-3 years playing I put in roughly the cost of a so called "triple A" game, and got as much or more enjoyment out of it. I've never tried trading, but I hear it can be pretty lucrative if you dedicate time to it. The most valuable items that people are willing to buy are the ones that are hardest to get (no surprise there), so it would likely take a fair bit of grinding. I may be wrong though. Rushing - a common complaint amongst newer players. The vets have seen and done it all before, and are usually just looking to finish the mission as quickly as possible to get the reward. Soloing or playing with friends seems to be the only way around it, unfortunatly. Interception and other endless missions can be soloed, especially at lower levels, but it helps to have decent gear (Warframe and weapon mods, in particular). Crowd control is king at higher levels when the enemies start one-shotting you. Archwing - I like it, but I understand why so many other don't. It's a game mode that could use more work from the devs (I think they know that).

I used to play quite a bit a few years ago then kinda fell out of it--too much grinding--but I played off and on after that. I have about 300 or so hours on record, though I usually only played with friends so I probably don't have much clue about it. Rhino was my favorite frame though~

Been playing the game since October 2013. It's the game I have clocked the most hours in ever, it even surpassed the ME3 MP by about 500h now (I had/have a ridiculous amount of hours on ME3 MP). Matter of fact, Warframe was the reason I got myself a decent PC again after years of console/laptop-gaming. The reasons for me to play Warframe itself were different though: friends. And I even didn't like the game when I played it at first. Left it lying for a couple of months and then wng convinced me to give it another go, so I did. And liked it a lot, so much even that I didn'T care that I was playing with 800x600 with low details on everything at an amazing 10fps for the first 3 or 4 months or so. (!!) It was amazing, I had no idea what was going on when grim, kouz, wng, di, souly and kany played with me, I just knew that I like the game and the potential it had. Then I finally got a decent PC and started to play it religiously. I remember claiming my Ogris in the foundry. I had no idea what I was really, I thought it was some sort of grenade-lobbing-type. So naturally, I aimed at a group, fired and then died. Why? Because it'S a FREAKING ROCKET LAUNCHER!!! FOR SPACE NINJAS!! HOW INCREDIBLY STEALTHY!! Needless to say, I had a great time blowing my enemies, everything around me and mostly myself up during the match. I wasn't only laughing like a madman, I was a madman (I'm sure grim, kouz and di can attest to that as they were the ones reviving my butt every 30s or so ). It was great. The next best thing I discovered was the greatness that is Nekros. Holy crap did I farm my ass off with that guy (still my most played frame and I've been playing Oberon about 70% of the time since forever now). Then grim gave me equilibrium (greatest mod in the game), the best thing ever happening to my Nekros. It was the first 10-rank mod I maxed, even before all the base-damage mods. It brought me and a lot of other people a lot of drops, as my Nekros was one sick defiler of the dead. And then I discovered: Trading I've made so much plat this game that I never had to put any money in it myself and was able to give so much plat to my friends that they never really had to put any money in it after that point. In some sessions, I would make 2000 plat in 2h. I've had a streak of 3 days where I amassed the crazy amount of 9000 (the 2k/2h day was amongst them) I didn't keep a tally, but my lifetime amount of plat up to this point must be around 30-35k (which would be absolutely ridiculous to have in real money, or spent on a game for that matter). I still trade pretty good these days. I could keep talking on and on, about how grim and I bought all boosters and spent the whole weekend farming materials to make our dojo the most fabulous one in all of Warframe, or how kouz and refused to stop farming for delta beacons when hydroid came out (after everyone else went to sleep, we got more in the 2h we kept playing than before), or how boom always needed weird resources like ferrite or nano spores. Or maybe how grim and I two-manned a trophy in at the first archwing event for our clan because we had upgraded our stuff like crazy already. I NEED to mention the comforting sound of wng's latron prime pew-pewing everything around me and keeping me safe when I had 10fps (shivers). But I should stop, I've written way more than I intended anyway. I guess the gist of it is: I like this game

Ok....so, I have now been playing this game all day. I am thru the 1st 4 missions and I have only fired my gun twice total, in all matches combined. This is the kind of game I have been searching for to replace ME3MP. 2 thumbs up....so far.

I also have quite a few pieces of different warframes, but not a single one to complete the set and craft myself a new frame. I'm still running with the crappy Excalibur I chose at first (with a different helmet though, I got a schematic and couldn't resist to change looks lol). I really want to buy myself a new gun, I'm sick of my Grakata (that is not thaaaat good really, maybe at max rank and with the proper mods, who knows), but only have 2 inventory slots left. Tried to kill councilor Vay Hek the other day, but felt like it was too much of a grind even understanding how to kill him, and end up quitting Also, I remember getting a random invite for a clan, accepted it. However since I stopped playing for 3 weeks in a row, they kicked me out. Ok....so, I have now been playing this game all day. I am thru the 1st 4 missions and I have only fired my gun twice total, in all matches combined. This is the kind of game I have been searching for to replace ME3MP. 2 thumbs up....so far. Just meleed everything, didn't you? hahaha. Yeah melee is pretty powerful, more in fact than some guns.

I guess the gist of it is: I like this game I still don't understand crap of the mechanics about the game, like there're some weapons more effective against this or that. Just meleed everything, didn't you? hahaha. Yeah melee is pretty powerful, more in fact than some guns. Every now and then I visit the wiki to freshen my understanding of the damage. I used to put corrosive on most damage but I think I have tweaked to radiation and more specialised loadouts lately. Of the compound damage types there is alway two pairs you can create on the guns (e.g. corrosive and blast). Before you put stuff on der guns look at der base stats. They basically tell you if you have a status gun or more like a crit gun. Usually I end up tweaking the guns to deal the status effects I want them to do. If I can get to like 99% status chance. Shotguns check for every pellet I believe. Crit build try to reach over 100% crit chance to pop better red numbers or so - over crit blah Sniper rifles and bows are such candidates. That is a very baseline of what the damage is about. There are of course rarities, tool guns and stuff that needs some prereqs to trigger before some funny effect happens (like berserk attack speed e.g.) but you can pick that up later. Grakata is a bullet hose. I think it can be specced well enough for crit? I can recommend Latrons, Somas and the Hek shottegunne. And for der WF parts you have to beat der bosses over and over again until der right part drops. How to beat specific enemies: Read der article on the wiki. (And try to remember - I often forget...). Sometimes they bugs out, though. Vay Hek is the Earth guy, right? You either rush to end zone skipping the parts between. Or do it as intended. Vay Hek has vulnerable face I believe, but shows it only every so often. A lot of bosses are like this - they have a loop to show their weakness but have invulnerability or super high resistance else.

Sometimes they bugs out, though. I really should read which gun is good at what. I always check on google before buying a gun to see if it is useful, though. For instance I've got the Gorgon (the Griner LMG) blueprint on the field, but google said the weapon was garbage, so I didn't bother constructing the thing; inventory space being a precious commodity and all... Yup that's him. I always read the wiki when I can't figure how to kill a boss. I think the only boss I figured on my own was the first one, lol. I've read he has ferrite armor so a weapon with corrosive damage would be beneficial, but I don't know if I have any corrosive mod, I brought my old ass max rank Braton and my double-Vastos as side weapons. I shoot him in the face so many times it wasn't funny any longer, I saw the numbers popping in his face so damage was dealt, however he just wouldn't die. After an hour or so I grow tired and decide to quit.

Then you decide whether going status or crit which also is determined by the polarities that support the initial build. Another important part is the physical damage composition (slash, puncture, blunt) - slash seems to be one of the preferable versatile types. Did you solo Hek? Just pug him. I guess Excalibur might not be the best to tackle him power-wise. High single shot damage weapons and damage buffers should help. What I often see is Novas that slow enemies so the window to hit the weak spot is easier to take advantage of but people often just overdo it and everything becomes a slideshow.

Yeah, when it comes to mods I always put serration on my weapons and then something else. For instance I've read that the cryo ammo was good on the Boltor and leveled up my cryo mod at max, has 90% cryo chance and yet I never saw the weapon freezing enemies, only two times and I used that weapon a heck of a lot. And yes, I tried to solo Vay Hek. I pretty much always play solo, never really had much of a problem defeating the other bosses. As mentioned in other comment above I tried a pug once and it was a speed/ego contest. So I didn't had the best experience in that regard.

To apply a status effect reliably you pretty much need 100% or very close to 100% status chance iirc. Cold damage status proc doesn't freeze enemies, it reduces attack and movement speed. The freezing is when they die under status proc I think.
