I've been getting somewhat into survival tactics lately, though my knowledge is still pretty novice level. I've been reading a few books, looking up a few guides. The thing is, the more advice I find, the more nervous I get about the idea of real life survival situations. Take this image, for example: The idea of managing to attack an alligator's or crocodile's eyes while they're underwater with their jaws around me is a little hard to imagine, as are some of the other suggestions. Does anyone have any favorite survival concerns or advice to share? (edit) the site I found that image on: postris.com/list/129/14-survival-tips-that-may-save-your-life-someday-vol-ii/

^The Dark Souls 3 equivalent shield-bashes you in the face while you circle around, breaks your guard, and then ripostes you for all your health.
On topic: I'm not planning any excursions into the wilderness in the near future, so naturalist survival tactics seem like they'd be less useful for me than something like what to do in an active shooter situation. Most of the stuff is common sense, but one that might not be is to avoid pulling the fire alarm. It gathers both the assailant and innocents to one place and put them in a state of panic.

While traveling in Grizzly Bear country, lather yourself liberally with peanut butter. If you encounter a grizzly bear charge towards it. The grizzly will give you big "bear hug". Trust me on this.

Also avoid jellyfish season And there are survival kits you could buy (not the Fallout 4 one ) because they have lots of things which could come in useful If an apocalypse happens though your worst enemy will be other humans not animals

It depends where you are, IMHO.
For example, in my case a simple summoning of the Pokemon Glockachu would suffice. Wild boar are certainly NOT immune to 9mm Luger. For wolves, this is why high-capacity never hurt anyone. They should attack in a pack, and I'm not sure whether the first shot (and potentially kill) will enrage or scare the rest of the pack shitless.
Si vis pacem, para bellum!

(edit) the site I found that image on: postris.com/list/129/14-survival-tips-that-may-save-your-life-someday-vol-ii/Read this if you haven't. I have the same book, I can highly recommend it. It is packed with information, information which is useful even outside survival scenarios, like for mountain climbers and outdoor people. As for survival tactics, I think the biggest danger is hyperinflation and the ensuing complete breakdown of law and society. At least here in Europe. I prepare for this kind of stuff as good as I can which means sensibly stockpiling food, water, ammunition, essential medications, staying good friends with neighbors, lots of practice at the shooting range and keeping myself fit and healthy. I'm not really a prepper or a doomsday nut but I think its a big naive mistake to be completely unprepared for rough times thinking everything will be alright. Currently the world is in turmoil and its going through a lot of radical changes, its pretty damn hard to make even rough predictions about what could happen in the future. Also having been in the NBC corps I used my knowledge to gather equipment to deal with nuclear fallout. I have special nuclear reactor rated filters against radioactive particles, radioactive iodine and iodine vapors, a Geiger counter and most importantly, I know when and how to use it. I do not think I'm ever going to need it but its good to have. Like a fire extinguisher, I'll probably never need it, but when I need it it can safe my very life. And that stuff is not very expensive. I have enough stuff and equipment to help a second person survive - so if the apocalypse comes and you're a hot chick, I'm sure we can work something out. Kek.

Normally you have far less to worry about re killer animals than water, shelter and food. If a real top predator gets a hold of you your usually f u see ked.
Learn how to obtain water when there is no source handy. Learn how to build a fire when there are no matches and nice dry kindling handy. Learn how to build shelters for a variety of habitats (hot places, cold place, wet places.) Learn how to fish and make snares and traps with few resources.

Also, this one my seem like a no duh, but practice what you read. Reading the book means nothing if you can't do the techniques when needed.

Well we do swim in the ocean. You know, the sharks home? I'd probably get freaked out if a half naked person was in my home. As for crocodile attacks; all the ones I've read about have involved an adult or child doing something stupid before getting attacked. I'm not saying you should just let an animal attack, kill, and eat you though. If an animal attacks you, beat the shit out of it. But remember where you're treading.

Personally, I interpreted it to mean that animals are more predictable than humans... which I agree with, really... I mean, other animals tend to be less intelligent and more instinct-focused which means that they can be predicted easier and that theres always some reason behind what they do... like theyre hungry, so they hunt... that kind of thing, ofc humans have instincts too but we also have more psychological diversity and that makes us harder to predict, I really REALLY doubt that she meant that children have somehow personally provoked a shark into killing them Plus out of all the animals in the world, humans are the second most dangerous to other humans
