You can start fire with a plastic bag and your own body. You pee into the plastic bag and shape it into a lens which you can use to ignite tinder with, it really works. Doesn't work if your urine is very dark though, from hydration or kidney injuries.

The simplest way to be prepared is to shop primarily at warehouse stores. You will always have a few months worth of coffee, toilet parer, soup etc on hand.

Interesting tool for cutting wood, trees and branches; a sawback bayonet.
This particular one is a nice accessory for an outdoorsman with a K11 or K31 rifle ^
---------------
Here's another interesting one, a trowel bayonet.
This would be a nice addition to a trapdoor springfield owner ^

Paul Harrell demonstrates the effectiveness of throwing knives and a thrown tomahawk and shows that contrary to what the movies and vidya would have you believe, it's a parlor trick and you're better off not throwing your weapon away.

Paul Harrell demonstrates the effectiveness of throwing knives and a thrown tomahawk and shows that contrary to what the movies and vidya would have you believe, it's a parlor trick and you're better off not throwing your weapon away. Yeah that has always annoyed me greatly, throwing knives and weapons are generally pretty worthless. There is only three useful throwing weapons I can think of, first one is Shuriken, but only in the way they were intended to. They weren't meant to cause serious lethal wounds but to surprise and injure a Katana wielding opponent before the duel begins, making your opponent having to begin the fight with nasty annoying injuries, giving you the edge (no pun intended). Maybe you land a lucky hit and injure your opponents sword hand or hitting the head of your opponent so he gets distracted by blood flowing his eyes. The second one is the throwing spear. A well thrown throwing spear will penetrate a human body front to back at quite a distance. Its also one of the few throwing weapons people used effectively in warfare, from the Romans to the Greeks and people from the stone age. Ideally you carry several spears besides your main weapon so you don't throw away your only weapon. Third one is the boomerang. A hunting weapon that can kill you with blunt trauma. In the hands of skilled Aborigines a quite effective weapon. Talking about spears, good 'ole Skall did some tests with those. Throwing begins at 7:00 against simulated padded armor.

Should also use dedicated throwing knives and axes if you did want to do it for fun. Throwing your more expensive and sometimes delicate tools is a good way to break or lose them. Also a good way to hurt yourself if you're dumb enough to try it anyway and it bounces back and hits you.

Well, when I was a kid I used to have a throwing knife. It had a narrow and thick blade (the one he uses is for show, and has a wide front to limit penetration and ease retraction). It completely penetrated - all the way to the guard - the more than inch thick boards that I used for practice. So the basic idea works. ...But right, don't throw your weapons to the enemy.

Something different relating to survivalism and living off the land; how to make a sofa out of bamboo.
And how to make a quaint wooden sink.
So even in the event of a societal collapse or apocalypse, it wouldn't be too long before we can enjoy some modern comforts once more.

There was a reason all the personal down on in Panama back in the 90s smoked, much as people complain about the health gripes these days insects really dislike smoke and that's nice to have in a topical region. You can apply this lesson in a number of ways to keep away those little bastards but its hard to beat the convenience of a cigarette or cigar.

When I smoke a cigar the smoke will stick to my baseball cap and clothes and all insects will stay clear of me for the whole day. They probably think there is a forest fire going on and they don't want to be involved with that. In a survival scenario you can impregnate your clothes and cover unprotected skin with the ash from a bonfire, that will work pretty well.

In movies its a pretty popular situation to have the protagonist accidentally give away their position to their enemy by making a little fire in the night - but there is a way to make an invisible fire for warmth and cooking (survival) purposes without carelessly revealing your position!
