Trying to decide what to play, since whichever class I don't play in this one I'll play in DAI.

Blood mage? . You are a bad bad person and you should feel bad about it. Jokes aside, I heard blood mage is OP specially late game. I have switched to archery (without respecting) from my DW rouge in a few fights ( Arishok, Rock wraith), so I think it is totally viable and fun option. Specially with shadow specialization. With haste you, Varric should be able destoy everything.

Play a blood mage and laugh at the fact that you can get away with it compared to other apostates who practice it too. Also, there is no blood mage specialization in Dragon Age Inquisition, so it is now or never.

I am in a somewhat similar position, as I find that I like the idea of having both the rogue and the mage from the start, and both Varrick and Anders are well-liked companions. It's hard to decide what class to play. I am guessing Mage is a more functional pick, because it is easier to play in a party with 2 mages than in a party with two rogues?

I also prefer two mage in group for bigger aoe firepower, or/and healing. I think the story probably better with a mage (Bethany can help, if become Circle Mage – but much people found Bethany a little bit boring – true, much people found Carver a little bit asshole), it's different feeling from mage, and from warrior/rogue viewpoint for me, even if I play as similar way.

I sometimes have 3 rogues in the group, Varric, Isabella and Hawke, and it works fine. To the question: I like the archer very well and don't play bloodmages (I'm with the Winchester brotheres there: 'Why does magic always involve bodily fluids? It's disgusting.'), so I would go for the archer there
