From the Journal of Ioan Shepard:
- Citadel, Silversun Stip: I get free play at Armax Arsenal Arena. No high stakes like imprisonment for an innocent guy or a retirement home, but still lots of fun. First round already placed me on that board but I was going to have to do some work to surpass Bailey, Vega, Bray, Aria and, at #1, Barla Von. Didn't move up much in the second round but saw that al-Jilani was ahead of me. The more I handicap myself, the better I do. Now I've only got Barla Von and Aria ahead of me. Hmmm...Shifty Cow is on the board. Thought I killed that sucker on Ontarom. The entire herd, in fact. Some must have escaped, or maybe it's a virus that moves from one space cow to the next. Did two consecutive charity matches and broke the board both times, 9999 isn't good enough. They have to do something about the max score. - Went for a stroll in the casino. Something was immediately off. I noticed a strange device near one of the bars. Soon after, Kasumi walked in with some followers. She made to leave but I stopped her. Turns out she was robbing to help those unfortunates who could not make it to the safety of the Citadel. I didn't know who was running the place currently but the last guy was dirty. I doubted it was any different now. I let her have her fun. Then I met with Garrus. Tried to set him up with a turian who was eying him but it took some alcohol to give him the confidence he needed to seal the deal. - Outside, on the strip, I waited for Javik. He had been told that he could participate in a vid that would help the war. Sounded shady. It was, if you can believe it, for the next Blasto movie. The script was terrible. It was like some bizarro universe version of real life events. Turns out, after meeting Blasto, I'm not sure a fan after all. - Was supposed to meet Traynor for lunch. She didn't show. Then I saw her engaged in what I like to call "space chess". She had entered a tournament and was doing quite well, at least until an arrogant asari arrived. Let's just say that she was put in her place. Zaeed was also around, trying to win some plushies or something from a claw game. He was failing miserably. Eventually, he won a plushy and so was satisfied. I had to go a few rounds myself, getting music, a volus plushy and a mod. Also bought some new furniture to make it more more own rather than Anderson's. - Invited friends over, starting with Miranda. She'd heard something of a clone but just rumors. Also knew of Brooks, though under a different name. Then came EDI, who wanted to buy gifts for the crew. I narrowly averted putting Joker in debt when she tried to buy him a new sports skycar. I convinced her that a weekend rental was better. She got me a ring composed of metals from all of the Council homeworlds. I wasn't sure when or where I could wear this ring but it occurred to me that it might fit better on someone else's finger...if we both survived this war. James came over to show me his new N7 tattoo, the one I'd seen a batarian give him on the Holding Docks. Also, in the spirit of this being a completionist run, I clicked 183 times to beat James's pull-up record. Then I was done. Kaidan came over. Thought we'd head out but he insisted on cooking. It was really quite cook. Can't go wrong with beef, bacon and beer. Then we, eventually, made our way upstairs to the main bedroom. - After a nice night, I was well rested and ready for whatever was coming. First up was meeting Cortez for a joyride in the shuttle. He showed me what it was like before inertial dampeners and then cut loose. He also took his job very seriously and didn't trust anyone else to get me to the ground. I don't think I did, either. When it came to frigates, Joker won no contest, but these shuttle drops were something else. Then I met Joker at the casino bar. He was trying to convince an asari bartender to comp his drinks for being a hero. He told a story about commandeering an Atlas mech and using it to fight Cerberus troops during the coup. I'm pretty sure that didn't happen but few knew what he was capable of. Hell, we'd never have been able to get the Mako to Ilos if he weren't so capable, let alone get through the Omega 4 relay, or so many other things. So I backed him up. - Then it was back to the Arena, this time for a match with Jack. It was fun fighting Cerberus alongside her. Then I went ahead a completed every Armax challenge that was sent my way.

Yikes! Sounds like your suicide mission in ME2 really was suicidal! You lost not only Dr. Chakwas, but also Samara. (I wonder what would happen here if you chose Morinth over Samara in ME2? Would Morinth be able go to the monastery since she's an Ardat Yakshi and could potentially be turned to a Banshee? Also, so much for Samara's daughters being the only Ardat Yakshi...) Too bad about Dr. Michel. She might have been an interesting addition to the crew. Melee as a tactic against the Banshees? What level are you playing on? (Sexy vampires they definitely aren't!) Actually this game was generated with Genesis 2, the comic book introduction for ME3. Depending on what you decide the outcome is really suicidal. In this game I did a Shepard who usually choose the fast route not because it's easy, but because she's impacient. So my crew payed the price, Chakwas is dead, Samara wasn't recruited and the only survivors were Garrus, Miranda and Jacob. All of them are not loyal when the mission ended. The Normandy have all the combat upgrades installed, shield and cannon, but not the medbay, thruster engines and planetary scanning. I'm playing on hardcore setting. There are some issues with the gameplay I don't like it, Insanity difficulty being one of them: the enemies are not smarter, tatictal or anything different, they are just bullet spoonges and do triple damage or whatever with their guns and powers.
It's cheap.
The other is melee. I did this build for fun, but the main problem with melee in a SP game it's only good for low basic enemies like husks and cannibals. For being at least usefull against brutes, ravagers, shielded enemies and banshees you have to sacrifice your shields and health upgrades in fitness, focus your armor pieces for melee, health and shields, sacrifice your shield regen and you need to carry light weigh weapons like the Wraith, Blood Pack Punisher or the Hurricane. The only class able to do this is the Vanguard.
And unlike guns, you need to punch shielded enemies two times to bypass the shield gate and kill them and banshees at least five or six times after stripping their barriers (and rollback after the puch, otherwise the banshee catch you). Like I said, I did this for fun.
But you kill Atlas with three or four after stripping their shields and having cryo ammo evolved to weakening armor for your squadmates.
I'm human, not krogan. Anthropocentric bag of dicks. PS: You really want to have Wreav unleashed? Human? Not according to your profile pic. No, I don't want Wreav unleashed. That's why I do my best to not kill Wrex and not destroy Maelon's data. Yeah, Wrex is one of my favorite characters. Actually I would probably be a target for the Terra Firma party, because I like the aliens much more than the humans.
Even with Wreav present, I still don't like to sabotage the Genophage, specially if Eve is not dead. There are a lot of counterpoints for the salarian claims that the Krogan would attack the other races when the war is over. If Eve is alive they will actually being in a state of civil war. They don't have space ships, so how they will invade other planets? The krogan fighting in other worlds are all male, how they will reproduce? Maybe after the dust is settled the krogan motto would change from "having the blood of Shiagur in their veins" for "having the blood and winsdom of Eve in their minds". So who knows. But as I've written in the post above, this Shepard is a impacient one, so I'm roleplaying her. Now, if I could just find a cosmetic center at the Citadel I would buy a creme and get rid of these damn scars I have. I don't have a doctor at the Normandy, which means no medbay upgrade and Sith Lord face until the game's end.

I thought something we find somewhere ends up at Glyph's terminal. Wait, no, nevermind. I see that it requires the deal to be made with the turian on the Citadel and that can't happen without your medic.

Had the most glorious time today. Started with Kathrine, who tried to use RedCaesar97 excellent tips to some success. Miranda and Jack were quite adamant to stay in view and Kathrine is a squishy sponge without her barrier, so she's fine with others getting shot. So not sure if I'll be using slam to it's full potential. But it's nice to understand how it works, since I like playing with Miranda and now all her skills can be useful Did manage to bounce one guy really high with Slam and Shockwave. Not sure if they combo-ed or just aligned so well, but it was hilarious. Anyways, she did the Mordin recruitment mission. Daniel did make it out alive, which is a bit against her creed, but those sweet, sweet paragon points. Mordin was recruited, showed around the ship then Kathrine went back to Omega. Four shots later and she wobbled her way to the Merc recruiter shuttle with Kasumi and Jack. Learned that Shockwave+Bridge=Giggles galore. Watching those Salarians being tossed into the air was just glorious. Left Kasumi with Archangel while Jack and Kathrine went to kick some Vorcha shins. Did excellently at closing two shutters, then ended the session on the third, debating whether to give it a few tries on current difficulty or just go down to casual, because I really dislike that part. -- During the break I did some pondering and decided to start another run with Michael in ME3. Getting him a happy ending with Kelly and getting the level 10 weapon achievement. Which he got once he reached the Normandy. His Black Widow is all grown up and ready to cause some heart-ache. Only missing Defender, One and Only and the Omega achievements. Been wondering if I should get Omega, since Michael is the only one of my Shepard who would want to help Aria in any capacity. So is it worth it for one run? Anyways, started Michael's run by checking if his ME3 face codes were "legit" in ME2. They were and he seems to have found his dapper beret again. He was also rebuilt in his snazzy suit, so thumbs up for Miranda and Wilson. Started ME3 and was pleasantly surprised that he kept his renegade scars. So had to endure his glowing red stare while I decided what code to use for him. Went with the slightly modified one, because redheads. Also got a nice "immersion" moment when meeting Kaidan, since he did a slightly startled step back when Shepard turned to face him in all his renegade glory. Feel he's a lot more justified in his suspicions this time around. Nothing much more of note except head shots. So many head shots.. Playing an adept is nice and all, but snipers are so much more fun.

Melee as a tactic against the Banshees? What level are you playing on? (Sexy vampires they definitely aren't!) Mêlée attacks on Banshees are perfectly safe when they stop teleporting around and start throwing Warps. They won't sync-kill you (i.e grab and execute) when they're in that mode. As long as you can weather their attacks, you're fine. I recorded a video yesterday evening to demonstrate this... Miriam Shepard, vanguard, Insanity. The first wave is a mess, I generally make a pig's ear of spawns in that corner. I get a mêlée kill on a Banshee around the six-minute mark.
(5m26s: stupid physics-defying Warp...)

"Mordin came up with the idea to use the Shroud to disperse the cure, a tower-like construct the salarians had built to uplift the krogan during the rachni wars. Then the turians used it to deploy the genophage during the krogan rebellions. Conniving, but a smart way to do it, since it would infect the entire population." "How exactly did this Shroud work?" "I don't know the details, but it stabilised the atmosphere of Tuchanka due to constant global dispersion of air particles." "I see." "It was a good idea to use it, but things got complicated. A Reaper had appeared in front of the Shroud, which made a direct approach impossible. We called in turian aid to assist us with an air strike, while we planned to deploy the krogan troops on foot. But it all came a little differently. We had help in form of a third, very unexpected party. It was a thresher maw. Krogan legend said it was the mother of all thresher maws, and they even had a name for it. Kalros. The female krogan came up with a plan to lure this thing to the Shroud. The krogan had installed maw hammers there, and we fought our way through to use them. And it actually worked. I didn't think I would ever be glad to see a thresher maw, but this time... It took down the Reaper with ease, dragging it underground. It was amazing to witness." "I can imagine. That makes for some really fantastic story." "I sent my squad back to a truck and went inside the tower to team up with Mordin. Time was short, as the tower was about to collapse. Mordin deployed the cure, but noticed that there was a temperature malfunction at the top of the tower that could alter the viability of it. Prior to touching down on Tuchanka, the salarian dalatrass had contacted me and offered salarian support for the war if I prevented the krogan from being cured. The salarians had sabotaged the Shroud in the past to make sure a cure would always fail. Of course Mordin was a very smart salarian and she was positive he'd notice the malfunction. She made it very clear it was up to me to deal with him. And I... I tried to stop him from deploying the cure. I wanted the salarian support, their engineers for the Crucible, their fleets for Earth. I tried to talk Mordin out of it, he was always defending the genophage in the past. But he didn't want to listen... stressing how he had made a mistake. So I drew my gun to keep Mordin from going up that tower." "Why did you change your mind?" "How did you--" "Jesse, please. I am your mother." "I... As I was seconds away from pulling the trigger, I took a step back and realised what I was about to do. To Mordin, to the krogan, and to myself. All the time I had thought the krogan weren't ready for a cure. They were violent, and I had made my own experiences with them as well. But no matter my personal feelings on it, or how much I wanted the salarian aid, I wasn't going to throw away my humanity for that. And I thought... that with Wrex and the female running the clans, maybe the krogan finally were ready for a cure. I had to admit they had made some impressive changes to krogan society, and the men listened to the female krogan too. She was smart, respected, and different among the krogan, just like Wrex. So I let Mordin go. He died in that tower for what he believed in." "I'm so proud of you, honey. I do not blame you for having second thoughts about the cure at all, krogan are known to be violent. But what matters is that you didn't lose yourself there. You still stayed you even with this pressure, and this chance for salarian support." "Still... it was too close. Even thinking about going this far..." "But you didn't. That's what counts. Right?" "I guess. And I'm glad I could give the krogan this chance. I'm hearing some really positive things from Tali and the others." "That sounds great. I think we're heading into a new future with a place for everyone." "Yeah. I hope so." "So what was up next?" "Returning to the Citadel. The salarian Councilor informed me of Udina being involved in same shady business. It sounded important, so I had to check it out." "Oh, so is that the part where Udina betrayed everyone by working together with Cerberus?" "Yes. Though I'm sure you'll want all the details." "Indeed, son, indeed." Pics: Dramatic moment... But up he went. Yay! Victus keeps his promise. A shame he left the ship already since I love the talks about his son. But I want to do these missions with Tali. Jesse is still not opening up to everyone, and I love playing it that way New dialogue for me, since so far I never had a combination of sacrificing the Council in ME1/curing the genophage in ME3. I love these little changes Many Renegade dialogues in ME3 fit Jesse perfectly. That you did! No matter how often I play this game, Tuchanka will always be one of my favourite parts. I think I've done every possible outcome there now, except having Padok (which will likely finally happen on my next run), and the emotion that is behind each choice is superb. The body language of Shepard is absolutely amazing and I love it every time. Combat-wise it went fine, even though I had Liara disappear completely at the section with the maw hammers, and she even didn't appear in the cutscene when sending the squad back. So I fought off 5 brutes with James alone, before I said 'fuck it' and ran to the hammers And now I really look forward to getting Kaidan back! Full biotic powaaaaaa

Yesterday, I killed Kai Leng, went back to Earth, defeated the reapers ... and then had a hell of a party with everyone in my apartment on the Citadel. Seriously, CEM rocks! Before I got there though, EGM surprised me with a pretty cool "mission" for the evacuation of Thessia. Again, the resourcefulness, dedication and imagination of these modders is to be commended. Also, arriving in the Exodus cluster and seeing all my fleets assembled there (with some very cool music playing) is just awesome: Played on insanity. I really love the final fight. Whatever you may think about the ME3 ending, the decision to avoid a boss fight and instead just make it an absolutely epic ground battle where you get swarmed by Banshees, Marauders and whatnot was the ideal way to end the gameplay portion of the game. It really feels like you just do not stand a chance. The only criticism I have is that the following cutscene with Anderson is too long. It would have been better if they fired the thanix missiles, jumped into Anderson's car as it drives by while even more reaper forces show up and you drive like mad to the beam. But that's just me trying to find peanuts. Over all it's glorious. I used MEHEM this time around, for the feel good factor. Now, the cutscenes about the rescue maybe a bit rough around the edges and frankly they are a bit over indulgent but I am astonished how well the timing of the suicide mission music fits to the (unaltered) final cutscenes. When the reaper falls, there is a dramatic pause in the music, when the Citadel fires the beam, it just picks up in time and when we see it spreading through the galaxy, the epic chorus comes in just in the nick of time. It's like it was composed for this. That's crazy. As for the party, I used CEM's "super party" mode, where you can have all the stages (quiet and loud) in one go, so you have like 6 stages of party or so. I'd say it's actually a bit too long, but still, nice idea to make that possible. I've heard most of the encounters multiple times before but some still make me chuckle. My favorite part though is when everyone wakes up the next morning and is hung over or just ... contented, being there with all the others. Especially as an epilogue it is such a sweet moment to send everyone off, it's perfect. I don't know another game (barely another story) that captures friendships as well as ME does. So good bye Shepard and crew, I'll see you again maybe in 2 years or so for another playthrough. :contempt:

Melody Shepard, Colonist/Sole Survivor/Infiltrator, ME3 Insanity: Arriving at the galactic rim to meet with a quarian delegation, Melody was surprised to find the exiled Tali'Zorah among their number. It turned out that the admiralty needed a geth expert because they'd chosen now to launch an all-out assault to retake Rannoch, only to find that the geth had allied with the Reapers and become far deadlier as a result. Assistance with defeating the geth was their price for joining the galactic coalition. The admirals were as they had been during Tali's trial: Heavy Fleet commander Gerrel gung-ho about the war, Civilian Fleet leader Koris opposed, chief scientist Xen eager to seize control of the geth's tech, and Patrol Fleet commander Raan on the fence. Privately, Tali was a wreck, feeling responsible for the ill-advised war because the quarians' new weapons were based on her father's research that she had helped facilitate. A plan was formed for Melody, Tali and Kaidan to infiltrate the geth dreadnought from which the Reapers' control signal was being broadcast. With the signal down, the Migrant Fleet would have an opportunity to retreat and regroup, protecting the Civilian Fleet. The Normandy's stealth systems enabled it to get close enough to surreptitiously dock with the dreadnought, even in the middle of an an intense fleet battle. The control signal turned out to be emanating from the dreadnought's engine room, requiring the trio to fight their way along the length of the ship. They encountered moderate resistance from geth infantry along the way. Melody and Tali's hacking abilities kept the geth confused, while Kaidan overloaded their shields and raked them with covering fire. (No player or squad deaths, despite some silliness involving missing close-range shots...) The squad was surprised to discover that Legion was the source of the control signal; the Reapers had co-opted its unique platform's particular abilities to broadcast the signal to the entire geth consensus. Freed from its restraints, Legion shut down the signal and disabled the dreadnought's shields. Admiral Gerrel immediately changed the mission parameters; instead of retreating, he began an all-out assault on the crippled dreadnought, the squad still aboard. Along with Legion, they borrowed a geth fighter and made their escape before the dreadnought lost structural integrity. Back aboard the Normandy, Melody gave Gerrel a piece of her mind, employing every ounce of willpower to restrain herself from lamping him. Understandably, the admirals were shocked at the sight of Legion. Still acting autonomously, separate from the main geth consensus, the friendly toaster explained that the geth had allied with the Reapers out of desperation when the quarians launched their assault. The destruction of the heretics had made the decision harder, but ultimately the consensus had chosen servitude over annihilation. The Normandy intercepted a distress call from the quarian vessel Konesh, under attack from a geth fighter wing. Melody relayed the warning to Admiral Raan. Current EMS: 1481. Pics and video... Cold, but the truth: Wishful thinking: If this Spectre gig doesn't work out, Kaidan could try his hand as an omni-tool salesman: Well then, which model of shotgun might that be? Excellent choice, Tali: Alliance badasses: Told you it was wishful thinking: Nice of you to notice: Sniping toasters with the Indra, plus a guest appearance by the CLAYMOAR. My playstyle in this video shows clear influence from the way I play the quarian female infiltrator in multiplayer, although I prefer sniping with the Valiant or the Widow in MP.

Just completed Lair of the Shadowbroker today. I guess it would have made sense to play it after the main campaign, but I decided to do it mid-run, because I needed some distraction. And yeah, it was a great DLC. More importantly: I think I have a crush on Tela Vasir. Just look at her: By the Goddess, is she a handful. She's got the voice, the tattoos and the cool armor. (I want that armor!) And she's a Spectre. Why did I have to kill her? Instead of fighting Vasir, it should have been an option to dump Liara and elope with the former And maybe do some world-saving, as well. The scene where Shepard invites Liara to the Normandy to catch up was cute, and it made up a little bit for the loss of Vasir. But there's no doubt who's the better asari Anyhow, it was a good ME day. Really starting to warm up to the trilogy. PS. I find it a fun detail that a lot of characters in ME seem to have Canadian accents. Way to go, 150-year-old Canada

The Reapers are a threat to every organic being in the galaxy! Yeah, right... I look at the Renegade/scarred Shepard and think: "That one is well on the way to being turned into a husk." The red eyes, the red scars...looks so unnatural. Just add some cables (which could easily be under the surface) and there you have it.

"When we approached the Citadel, no one answered Joker's call. Thane contacted us instead and told us that Cerberus had taken over C-Sec and was causing some havoc on the Citadel. Steve took James, Liara and me to the C-Sec HQ in order to try and regain control of the station. We managed to clear the area and found Commander Bailey, a C-Sec officer that had helped me before. He was wounded, but alive. We headed inside the station and he found a message from the salarian Councilor, who was supposed to meet up with the executor that day. No doubt there to look into Udina's illegal activities. But Bailey was sure she was in trouble, so this whole thing turned into a rescue mission." "And did you find her?" "Yes, eventually. But Cerberus had an assassin on the Citadel, Kai Leng... He tried to kill her. Thane came to her aid and fought him. He was not in top form due to his illness, but kept up at first. Until Leng managed to stab him with a sword and fled. It looked bad, but I couldn't afford to let Leng get away. Thane died in the hospital later, when everything was over." "How tragic... but he died as a brave man." "He did. It was thanks to him that the salarian Councilor was safe. Kai Leng got away, but at least we managed to find the rest of the Council unharmed. Kaidan had protected them. Udina was with them though, and when we caught up to them, he tried to turn Kaidan against me. Claimed I was still with Cerberus." "That weasel! But Kaidan trusted you, right?" "Well... It was dicey for a moment, but I told him to listen to his gut, and he believed me. Udina then tried to access a console to get away and pointed a gun at the asari Councilor when she tried to stop him, so I took the shot. I hadn't meant to kill him, but he was dead immediately. I blew the chance to question him..." "Yeah, the news never even mentioned why Udina helped Cerberus." "Well, it's shoddy at best, but from what I pieced together from the reports Bailey had sent me, it looked like he wanted to overthrow the Council to take their fleets for Earth." "That's... hard to believe. I mean, to go to such lenghts... But I guess that's war for you. Desperate times, desperate measures." "True enough, but still... Well, after these events I paid my respects to Thane. This was when I also spoke to his son for the first time. He had donated blood, but it wasn't enough. The illness had complicated things. It was a really strange day, but at least Kaidan joined us on the Normandy. Next I heard from Hackett that the quarians wanted to meet up. Rumour had it they had prepared for war with the geth, and unfortunately it was true. I still can't believe they chose to do this during the Reaper war... and they only contacted us because they needed help. They had actually done fairly well up to that point, but then the geth allied with the Reapers and became more intelligent, and more efficient. Now the quarians were in trouble and turned to me. So I had to deal with Reapers and upgraded geth. Easy, right? The plus side of this whole mess was that the quarians assured me their support in return for helping them." "I see. And what about Tali? Where was she in all this?" "What do you think, ma? Of course she was right there. She had become an admiral after we had parted ways, and we had time to catch up at least a little in private. She was scared as hell, being responsible for so many of her people. I wanted to help her, so that's what I did. Taking back the quarian homeworld was a crazy ride. And I hope you can wait a bit before I tell you all about it." "What? Oh, is it already lunch time again?" "Yup." Citadel happenings and a lovely reunion: Damn, I was sure I had read somewhere online that Thane never sees Kolyat again when he is unloyal, but Kolyat appears in the hospital! The dialogue is slightly different, but not by much. I actually would've loved to see the hospital scene without Kolyat. Oh well, still a very good scene! Combat-wise the coup went unexpectedly fine and I didn't die once I'm still looking for some opportunities to blow up my Tech Armor, but so far I didn't really. Maybe now with the geth. Also, the reunion with Tali was really sweet, hopefully the romance stays good, because I'm actually really liking it so far

Interesting enough what you see in the character creation tool IS NOT what will be in the game most of the time. Importing a femShep face from ME2 was always problematic, broShep has less problems.
But creating one from the scratch has even more problems.
The iris and hair color in the tool are one of them. In the tool they are one color, but in the game itself they usually appear darker than the one you selected. Black hair is specially problematic.
The other are the scars. Her face is almost entirelly covered with them in the pic, but in the game apart from the cheeks, the ones in the forehead and eyebrows are not like you are seeing, they are less proeminent. The full renegade eyes are also different.
Also, a medical question. If the scars have trouble healing, the skin should be moisturized, leaking pus and other 'delightful' symptons, isn't? Like the ones when you fall from a skateboard or bicycle and hit the ground without protection, scratching your skin. So yeah... she's on the way to a husk. LOL
And Traynor, Liara, Garrus or Thane kiss THAT?!

I'm pretty sure it's fake skin, so no pus? Plus, all the upgrades from 2 turned it into super duper fake skin, so even if the implants are showing, it's still pretty tough stuff.

fraggle Bring Garrus along on the Dreadnaught for some major trolling. Damn, I already took Kaidan, but I will check out Garrus. If not someone on YT recorded it I'll play through the mission once more to see it Interesting enough what you see in the character creation tool IS NOT what will be in the game most of the time. Importing a femShep face from ME2 was always problematic, broShep has less problems. That's why I always create a Shepard in ME3 first, then create sliders for ME1 from that code. Works like a charm every time

I haven't had much playtime lately, and I decided that being a soldier was boring, so I made an infiltrator and started over. The last thing I did with my soldier was Jack's loyalty mission, so I wanted to catch up to that first and this time I did have enough paragon points to prevent Jack from killing Aresh by using the charm option (didn't really notice much difference). Yesterday I went to Illium, had a nice little chat with Liara (I thought she was more blue is ME1?) who pointed me in the direction of both Thane and Samara. I wanted to get Thane first (also because the Viper was waiting for me there, supposedly to be the best sniper riffle, but I does a lot less damage than the one I was using before, it just has a much larger clip and can hold more ammo). I recruited Thane, but unfortunately running around on Illium took to much time so I didn't have time left to do my usual round on the Normandy after each mission, except for Jack. I had to go talk to Jack before I shutdown for the night. Jack asked me if I had feelings for her. There should have been a paragon interupt there that let you kiss her (like fem. ryder with Whatshername the science officer in Andromeda), but all I could do was admit after which she send me away .... I've already done a lot of scanning so I can research what I find/buy, I just lack the money to buy everything I see (except the fish, gotta have all the fish ).

Continued with ME2 PT with Giovanna, Paragon Vanguard. Initially wanted to do it on Hardcore. But after using up the nine lives of a thousand cats, I realized it was both pointless and not at all fun. Playing Vanguard for the first time, using the Charge power plus the Eviscerator shotgun can be fun, but most of the time it would get you killed on Hardcore. Veteran is challenging enough. Initially, recruited Zaeed, Mordin, and Garrus. (I always feel bad for Zaeed's prisoner. Any info on what this guy did? Surprisingly, there doesn't seem to be any way to do a humanitarian intervention of any kind.) Then went to recruit the Krogan Warlord but ended up with grunt instead. Giovanna killed Rana Thanoptis, the questionable Asari scientist (who was already indoctrinated) in ME1. If she lives, she's an assistant to Okeer. Dead, she has no replacement. Went to the Horizon colony after hearing tip from TIM. Took the usual team of Mordin and Miranda. (Miranda's Warp power is boring, but very useful. I can't do this mission without Mordin's banter about his armor protection against the Collector swarm "might" work.) After successfully driving off the Collectors and damaging their ship, Giovanna briefly reunites with her old love, Ashley. After a loving embrace, things quickly turn cold when the subject of Cerberus is brought up. Did Jacob's loyalty mission. This time, I chose options that manipulate Jacob's father into killing himself. Jacob is still loyal and no renegade points were incurred, which was a surprise. Recruited Jack. Recruited Kosumi and did her loyalty mission. This time, I tried to sneak into Hock's apartment via the window instead of by luring the guard away from the door. Ended up having noisy encounter with guards. Interesting that no one noticed. So much for trying the Splinter Cell approach. I do like Kosumi's banter. I let her keep the Greybox. Also did "Cheerleader's" loyalty quest the Paragon way. Then went to Ilium. After brief reunion with Liara and doing some hacking for her, went to find the Justicar. To keep Samara from tearing up the police department, went to take on the Eclipse mercs to find out how they smuggled out a fugitive Samara was looking for. This time, Giovanna didn't fall for Eclipse iniate Elnora's "I'm not a killer" routine. That did earn a couple of renegade points even though she turns out to have been the murderer of Pitne For's associate. Initially let the volus high on Red Sand go after Wasea with predictable results. Went back a save to do it the Paragon way! Next Thane and then on to Tuchanka...

Melody Shepard, Colonist/Sole Survivor/Infiltrator, ME3 Insanity: Melody caught up with her comrades: - Kaidan was asking EDI to find some trace of the biotic squads he had worked with. He also said he was happy to have Tali around again.
- Liara was trying to deflect stupid questions from Joker about her "hair tentacles". Melody told him to get on with his work.
- Garrus was filling Tali in on what she'd missed. She expressed surprise that the genophage had been cured. Melody said nothing. Garrus then discussed the situation on Palaven and the pitiless calculus of war with his CO, both of them weary from their responsibilities.
- Cortez lamented not having an opportunity to work with the stolen geth fighter before it was shipped to the Alliance.
- James expressed concern about Legion's trustworthiness, and incredulity at the quarian admirals for starting a war at the worst possible time.
Legion provided intel about a server farm on Rannoch from which Reaper-augmented geth were controlling fighters that were attacking quarian liveships. Nuking it from orbit was not a solution because the geth would simply relocate to other servers. Legion's plan was to plug Melody into the consensus, Overlord-style; an organic presence would slip past the security protocols and permit her to destroy the Reaper code, enabling Legion to shut down the fighters. Sceptical, Melody reluctantly agreed to the plan. As her avatar proceeded through the virtual environment and eliminated the Reaper infection, Legion enabled Melody to experience geth memories as if they were holograms. She saw a selection of events leading up to the Morning War, records of the largely-forgotten quarians who opposed the War, and evidence that the geth permitted the quarians to flee Rannoch rather than exterminating them. After regaining control of the server, Legion established a consensus with the geth programs that had been liberated from Reaper influence. The programs downloaded into Prime platforms and pledged support for the war effort, pending cessation of geth-quarian hostilities. Legion confessed that this had been its aim all along, but it withheld the information lest the quarians prohibit the mission. Legion showed Melody and Raan a schematic of Reaper-enhanced geth code; it appeared as a neural network with organic-like qualities. Legion confessed to seeing a life-like beauty in it, and expressed regret that the upgraded geth were doomed to die. Melody disagreed with Legion's appreciation of the Reaper code; but after what she saw in the consensus, she hoped that not all the geth would have to die. Melody overheard Raan and Gerrel arguing about whether or not the Patrol Fleet should cover the Heavy Fleet while the latter retreated. She supported Gerrel's request for Patrol Fleet assistance. Current EMS: either 1511 or 1736; I got the first number when I checked first, and the second number a few moments later, after intervening in the Raan/Gerrel argument. (I hope the war terminal has not been infected by Reaper code). Pics... Legion: "Shepard-Commander, you have upgraded your N7 armour." Melody: "...you can't have it." Canon evidence that the M-98 Widow is ultimately of quarian design, which explains why it's so awesome: Does anyone else like cloaking before zapping the Reaper code fragments? Yeah, this won't end well: Don't get your hopes up: - Disruptor Ammo: ranks 4a (damage), 5b (headshots), 6a (damage)
- Cryo Ammo: rank 4b (squad)
- Incinerate: ranks 4b (radius), 5a (DoT), 6b (armour damage)
- Tactical Cloak: ranks 4b (damage), 5a (recharge speed), 6b (sniper damage)
- Sabotage: rank 4b (backfire)
- Passive: ranks 4b (reputation), 5b (capacity), 6b (sniper damage)
- Fitness: ranks 4b (health/shields), 5b (shield recharge), 6b (health/shields)
- AP Ammo: ranks 4a (damage), 5b (headshots)
Bonus video: Miriam Shepard (sentinel, Insanity) pretending to be an adept using a shield-stripping Acolyte and biotic powers. The Acolyte is an acquired taste and needs some practice; I clearly need more! Watch as I miss an easy over-cover grab, get flanked by a Prime, and completely fail to keep Garrus on his feet:

Played a bit with Kathrine today. She got Grunt and met Ash in an earlier session. This time she met her blue knight in red latex armor. Had a bit of fun with the biotic gas canisters, but they are just too toxic. Let little Elnora go, much to Jack's dismay. Also did Jack's loyalty mission. Felt a bit bad Kathrine got her butt kicked twice by the local Varren. But on the other hand, had no problem with the Krogan. Shouldn't it be the other way around? Anyways, didn't have enough renegade for the ideal solution, so Kathrine used reverse psychology to kill Aresh. Also spent quite some time looking at Jack's scars. Usually have her in the alternate outfits, so kind of forgot the nasty scars at her belly and back. Did some reading about them and learned that she has faces on her arm. Which I didn't know and they look pretty cool. Also tried to look up model swapping for laughs, but was too tired to find the right words.

From the Journal of Ioan Shepard: - Citadel, Silversun Stip: I get free play at Armax Arsenal Arena. They have to do something about the max score... After all the shooting the game has, when I heard our "fun hours" involve even more shooting my head almost exploded. Also I think the Y2K virus finally kicked in, almost two hundread years later. Yes, I'm aware the reference.
- Was supposed to meet Traynor for lunch. She didn't show. Then I saw her engaged in what I like to call "space chess". She had entered a tournament and was doing quite well, at least until an arrogant asari arrived. Let's just say that she was put in her place. Ok, this one will be a spoiler regarding Trynor chess skills, I only saw this dialog in a fresh playthrough without importing a savefile, so be warned. After Shepard ask her about chess and her explaination about preference for real chess pieces instead of holographic ones, she explains entering in a tournment on a whim back in 2183 and don't even passing the first stage, being beated in every single game by every single opponent.
I guess she improved a little, hun? LOL I didn't think too much about playthroughs without importing a save from ME2/ME1, but there are very good things on them and some events are different and sometimes even better than with a imported save. At least with Genesis 2 intro you have some flexibility over you squadmates and crew, but are restricted to the original characters regarding romance (Liara/Kaidan/Garrus for femShep, Liara/Ashley/Tali for broShep).
Heresy, I know...

(long post, sorry for poor english. Also, tons of pics.) Alright, bought 15 games in Steam Sales. I start Bioshock and drop. Then Mad Max, then Guacamelee and then Shadow of Mordor. Drop, drop, drop =p I could not stay too long, I'm back. This is my Shepard, Alan. "Vanguard", Colonist, Paragon. Quick background: He was a eezo miner in Mindoir, with his parents. Life was hard but honest and he felt happy. An accident in the mines soaked him with the strange element and he became the first human to be able to use bio charge. Which made him a good candidate for the Alliance after the massacre of his people. Years later: Eden Prime. Ok, he´s not a vanguard, actually. I pick adept because I need this class to unlock some achivements. The road to 100% is in the end now. Just 3 more and I´m done: Have Ash as a main companion, beat in Insanity and reach level 60. After that, I still wanna complet the Turian mission in Pinacle Station in Insanity. Already have a Soldier in standby, I'll use him for this job. Anyway, bastion is awesome. I already loved with Sentinel and continued with Adept. Freeze a maw and kill with a pistol? lol lol lol. Hardcore was not as challenging as I thought. In moral, everything depends on the equipment itself, there is no way. When you're well equipped, it's over. Talking about gear, this Shepard thinks that he can enter camouflaged in places (he never heard of the radar mods of the guns? Oh Sheps, only you) I really like Liara in ME1 (don´t like her AT ALL in M2 and M3). But I never finish her romance, wich I´m doing now. As always, I did ALL missions. I can not let it go, the minerals are like pokemons, I have to catch them all. Some crazy adventures later, the Galaxy is saved. Ash survived in the end. I never had her in Normandy at 3. MASS EFFECT 2The reborn of Shepard, but things did not go as planned. A sabotage in the Lazarus project seriously compromised the appearance of our hero. Cyborg eyes and nasty scars. Huh, he's okay with that. There are more important things to do. Then he makes a plastic or something. ok, now I´m a true Vanguard. Have I told that I was a big hater of the Vanguard? Seriously, I STOOD the class. I tried once, tried two, tried three. On the four, I decided to finish the run of this class. And I like a lot. More fun than efficient, though. This time I did a different build, changed the way I played and stopped trying to be a soldier, and I took claymore instead of training with rifles. I know this trilogy like the back of my hand. And I can state categorically that this is the best class of the game (The worst at the begining of the game, but that´s normal). There are times that it is even cowardice to play with this thing. Reave, oh good, reavy fits like a glove for him. Later I talk about more about the Vanguard. Now, a pause for misadventures of Miranda Lawson. OUCH! I always bring Miri for this mission (hey, Cerberus bussines) and I love take pics of this scene, because this cat does not know how to fall on her feet. My methodology for choosing squadies is: 1) Zaeed and Garrus for the Geth (like the photo bellow). If I have disruptor ammo, Tali and Garrus. 2) Zaeed and Mordin for blood pack. 3) Zaeed and Kasumi against Husks. 4) Miri and Kasumi against Blue Suns. Somethimes Garrus. 5) Sometimes Miri, but usually Thane and Samara against Eclipse and Collectors. I never use Grunt, Jack, Jacob and Legion, unless I play with soldier/infiltrator, because is not like this guys need suport for someone. Just point and shoot and we all be fine. Jason, Tommy, Billy and Trini for the rescue. GO GO POWER RANGEEEEERS!!!! In Horizon, An unexpected encounter. I'll always find Ash from 1/2 a cute one, the opposite of that ATROCITY that's her face in 3. IMHO, of course. And she makes a point of saying she does not like aliens. Haha, what a bitch. That's why Kaidan >>>> Ash. My crew have aliens, DEAL IT. The following meeting was more warmer. haha, look at his face, he looks so happy. Damn, this big frog is adorable ^^ But the next big one it's anything but lovely. Good fight using Vanguard against him. Almost as easy as using the Engineer. I like the Broker, he´s fat, ugly, clumsy.....everything I did not expect from him back there in ME1. Too bad we did not have another fight against a Yahg. ME3 is aaaaaalllllll about Cerberuzzzzzzzzzzzzz . Urgh. I reconnected with Liara, """""""""""""""""""""saved"""""""""""""""""""""" the day and then I took the opportunity to blow up a relay, killing hundreds of thousands of people. :poker: MASS EFFECT 3Alan Shepard now is an unemployed, discredited, faithless and thinking he will die with a shot in the back, shot by some Batarian. His careless hair denounces his state of mind. I tried to build on Raynor in Starcraft II. Close enough, I guess. Still without much to comment, I'm at the beginning. So I'm going to talk about Vanguard in 3. I hate it lol. No, kidding. I try before with the BORING charge/nova/gun thing, and can´t avanced too much without falling asleep. But now I made a diferent build. NO NOVA. It's fun for now. I still can not decide which shotgun I like. For now, the geth shotgun is breaking the branch. Sidearm is that N7 pistol (that thing is a knockout). Alan gained a special armor made by the military industry of Terra Nova, for saving them.

1) Zaeed and Garrus for the Geth (like the photo bellow). (big show here in Brazil) In Horizon, An unexpected encounter. I got "Shadow of Mordor" around the same time as "Dragon Age Inquisition." Good, linear action game that has a reasonably authentic "Tolkeinish" feel to it. That said, after you beat the game once or twice, you put it away and forget about it. RPGs have more replay value. Despite it flaws, I've played Inquisition many more times than Mordor.

I think now's the time when I can say that I've really fallen in love with the franchise.
Simply put: Mass Effect 2 is phenomenal. It's so full of exciting content! With basically 80% of missions being about your companions, it really makes you care about them. The first two times around, I didn't really give all of them a chance. But this time, I'm making sure that I talk to everyone, and there's just so much to be explored! I'm amazed. Some of the loyalty missions are scintillating, especially those where the focus is not on fighting. Samara's and Thane's missions are some of the best moments in the game, I think.
And it's astonishing to find out there's so much to like about the crew. What felt like a pretty mediocre collection of people during my first and second PTs is now becoming like a bunch of good friends. I really, really love Mordin - he's such a hero, always giving his best while also bravely confronting the dirty consequences of his actions. And he cares so much about Shepard. And Thane, he's a treasure And of course Garrus, Shepard's best pal (or LI) who just sticks with them no matter what. Even people like Samara and Jacob, who bore me before, have become more multidimensional after I've put in some effort to spend time with them. I've kinda started to see why people love Shepard's crew so much.
I never really expected to say this, either, but I'm completely changing my opinion of (female) Shepard, as well. Before, I always felt that she was a bit boring and too much of a no-nonsense soldier, but now I'm starting to warm up to her. She's got this amusing, deadpan style of dealing with things As I get older, I'm getting less and less interested in roleplaying and more and more interested in playing the role of a predetermined character. And it's pretty sweet to put myself in the boots of someone I'll never be and whom I would never create myself: a total badass soldier who makes everything explode on the way to saving the galaxy
And as a bonus, it's fun to compare the attitude of the renegade Shep to the aggressive Hawke:
Shepard: I'm fighting my ass off to save the galaxy, so if you don't cut the bullshit, I'm gonna take this bottle of Serrice Ice Brandy and smash it on your head! Hawke: If you don't get out of my way, I think I'll tie you up, pour myself a glass of good wine and slowly disembowel you while enjoying the sweet tasting notes of this [insert Orlesian equivalent of Zinfandel]. And then I'll do the same to everyone you love. The choice is yours
Anyway, later today I'm gonna finish the loyalty missions of Tali, Jack and Zaeed, and then head out for the derelict Reaper. Can't wait what I'll discover in ME3 when I get there. My first MET playthrough was pretty minimalistic - a mistake, it seems.
Nothing will ever best Dragon Age 2, but Mass Effect 2 is seriously challenging DAI as my second-favourite BW title.
