I only want a pet if it can't die. In the case that it can't die, I'd like a Mabrai. The only pet that can't die. Edit: The DA:4 protag can throw it at enemies. SOLD!!!

Mass Effect fish so I can completely forget that I have them until it's too late. And then go buy more and repeat.

Hrungr Blasphemy! Never too much Mabari. Thing is, we were Fereldans two games straight. And we actually got to see our country of Origin, interact with it. And then we become the Inquisitor. As a human, The only part of the Free Marches I've seen is Kirkwall, and that place was...not home. Skyhold seemed to be on the edge of two countries, and in the end, wanted by neither of them. If you asked my Dragon Age Soul what it's country of Origin was, it'd be Fereldan every time. My Dragon Age Soul wants a mabari. I understand that wouldn't make sense in Tevinter. So, I skip the mabari, and go straight to Griffon, the other animal that is emotionally connecting to me, as the symbol of the Wardens. No matter how much dirt they throw at them, most Wardens are the flawed human beings that are willing to lay down their lives for the many, regardless of borders drawn on a map. Griffons would be awesome, and inevitable... at some point. But I wonder if they'll introduce them in the next game or the game after. Consider how few in number they are and when they were found, timeline-wise it might make more sense to wait until they've bred in enough numbers that you could risk any. Hard to say...

Yeah, I think they need to wait for the griffons. Give it another game, one more focused on the Anderfels and the Wardens. Admittedly, I say this because I want DA4 to go in depth with Tevinter and Seheron, not splitting its attention too much.

Even after reading the book, I'm uncertain of Griffon lifespans. If they are like horses, hey're good to ride after 2-4 years. They were born in 9:40, and as of Trespasser we're at 9:43? 9:44? Breeding is a concern, and you literally have nothing but incestuous stock options. But that just means one should restrict the battle availability of all females and and rotate the males at least once. I guess I'm saying I think griffons being availble is on the table. But now that I've seen TW3's horse, they have to make horses work before they can make flying horses work. They could at least include them in cut scenes with CGI? tantalizingly out of reach of the protaganist but a glimpse of that horizon.

Just a little timeline clarification - the Griffons eggs were found in 9:42 and Trespasser began in 9:44. I figured though they'd want to wait several generations to build up their numbers to the point where you might feel safe to risk a few (and not threaten the species). Doesn't mean they're off the table, but to me it feels... more likely they'd appear in DA5.

How about a mount that our character calls by name, and is also a pet that will help you in combat, and that you can even do combos and finishing moves if it's summons is timed properly.
Think hidalgo. It would be cool to have a mount/pet that our character really bonds with

Voted no, as the whole pet thing doesn't interest me, but I wouldn't object if one went in, if I thought they could make a dragon pet work and not be weird, I'd vote for that, but I can't see how it wouldn't come off as weird.
Battling for our lives against Vints and Oxmen, while Mrs Snoutfire is back at camp, enjoying Crispy fried nug treats and getting a belly rub... would be to unfeasable, even for my well execised imagination.

Pet or No Pet? Voted yes, would like a mabrai to be added in Dragon Age 4. I have always had a soft spot for that cute but yet still ugly looking dog.
Hated that it counted toward the companions limit like it did in Dragon Age Origins, the mabrai should have had a free spot in the party to start with.

I think I'd like a non combat pet who you have dialogues with like the mabari did.
If they do mounts again we could do it with them. Feed them apples, chat to them like we did the mabari, see if they sense danger (maybe even magic if they're a more exotic mount), and you should be able to name them.
