that how unlikely it is that she travelled from another galaxy to come in his life, and it gave him various feelings god i can understand!! if this isn't another reason for the destined thing, then what is it? SPOILER FOR A LETTER PICTURE Ah so BW did intend for Sara/Jaal to be destined. Interesting. Explains the trailer too I bet. And his words to her in the romance scene make much more meaning than ever and in any romances In the lake before she can take an interrupt

The minute I heard she worked on the main plot too, something told me we were in for an amazing love story!

That's it! That's his age. Thank you! Any time~! I thought it was interesting, anyways, especially learning the Moshae's age. It seems they have a long lifespan, but I guess in Mass Effect, humans have longer ones too. Mild Aya spoilers and mild Jaal's family spoilers Another interesting bit of ambient dialogue on Aya reveals that angara can have twins/triplets as well, which is something I wondered. Lends the question to: is it typical for them, or rare, considering their large families? Also, the actual structure of their families is unclear. If they have many mothers, does that mean that all of their siblings are not genetically their siblings, but rather cousins or even nieces/nephews? Or do they also typically practice polygamy? Because it felt like to me both were implied. (Although Jaal's romance also implied differently, at least for him specifically). I know Jaal specifically says cousins separately from his siblings, but I wonder if that is a sort of culture idea -- related, but not in the same "household" like siblings are. He also said that when his previous love "joined the family" with his brother, she became one of the mothers. Which has implications. I think the point I'm making is that the way angaran families are set up isn't as clear-cut as humans, or so it is implied. Nothing concrete, but plenty to play with, I think. Too much speculation, not enough coffee. I think you broke my brain LOL

People like to add this "exclusivity" in romances. "Never met anyone like you"-thing. But it's a whole another level. (I'm sorry, simply can't shut up)

Especially that scene when he's twirling her around in front of everyone.

Leaving this here again because it fits and is 100% my ultimate song pick for Ryder/Jaal: oh i love this song also... this mothers thing...i think all the women who have children become one of the 'mothers' like..if the child has a problem s/he will have no problem going to one of them..we call our moms, right? because humans are pretty individualistic when it comes to that..I didnt get the father part though....

So since Sara is technically a little over 600 years old does that make her a cougar? EDIT: I didn't see that kissed by fire had already mentioned something similar ha. I really need to read through threads better. I believe Jaal said the Moshae Sjefa was very old when my Ryder asked if he loved her, I can't remember the exact age he said but I want to say it was around 120 maybe? it definitely wasn't over 100. Anyway, if Jaal thinks that's very old than human and Angara lifespans seem pretty similar since I think mass effect humans can live up to 150 years.

It broke my brain. I think it's headcanon for me though. Maybe each female spouse becomes a mother? Jaal's true mother birthed him, but the other mothers are just their version of a sister in-law? Something like that, I think. Any child of these mothers would be his sibling, no matter how they are genetically related to him -- full/half sibling, cousin, niece/nephew. Because I really, really don't think that even if angarans have multiples every birth they would have 14 children each, on average. (I think conversation with Paraan Shiae mentions that her 14 siblings are the average?) Granted, I know there are human families that have that many, but it does take a lot of work and effort and does put a lot of strain on the mother's body.
So when an angaran woman joins a family as one of the mothers, and she becomes mother to all the children of the household... makes sense that it would imply that her true children and the children of the other mothers would be considered siblings, no matter how they are related via genetics.
However, it becomes a little more complex if the older kids -- like Jaal's elder brother -- marry and bring a woman into the family. Would Jaal have been considered his ex's child? Would his nieces and nephews actually be considered his siblings? Need more coffee.

She is 115, Jaal is 27 and Sara is 22. great, this works out perfectly and they'll have a long blissful life together. I prefer lifespans being similar rather than something like the asari human difference. A vastly different lifespan would have been depressing to me.
