Dear fellow Europeans and other screwed people who dare not face the pain of waiting two more days until the release of Mass Effect: Andromeda... I scoured the internet for an easy to use free VPN client that would allow me to connect to pre-established VPN-servers in countries where the game will be unlocked on the 21st and found the SoftEther VPN Client. The following two webpages detail the process: general process and download link: www.vpngate.net/en/howto_softether.aspxspecific example for Titanfall and Origins: www.pcgamer.com/titanfall-early-unlock-heres-how-to-bypass-the-regional-launch-restrictions/The setup was very easy and straigthforward, I just picked a US VPN, then logged into Origins and was informed that Andromeda does indeed launch March 21st, 2017 5:00 AM CET, which stayed the designated launch date (even after closing Origin and then logging in without VPN) until a PC restart, where it reverted back to the 23rd. Hope this helps!

Price is also still US dollar, but for me that'd be cheaper anyway so I'm not complaining. Hope this helps! It's worth checking a Korean or Japanese server. I'm looking at one atm and the unlock time is 20 March 2017 at 15:00 GMT. So that's 10:00 AM ET, 7:00 AM PST. Also, I advise you not to purchase the game on VPN, I have a feeling that violates the T&Cs for Origin. Unlocking and downloading is perfectly fine though.

Thanks for the advice! I'll see if it reverted back to the normal settings after a restart then, haven't preordered yet.

If you connect to an asian server you'll only benefit from a few hours, because the release date is March 21 for North America and March 23 for all the other countries; I tried an asian server and Origin gave me March 22 for unlocking the game. You can pre-download the game at March 17 in the whole world, and this release date is only about unlocking it, so to get it at March 21 you have to connect to a server in USA or Canada.

The benefits depend on where you are. I live in the UK, so I can unlock it at 3pm on the 20th if I connect to a Korean network, and at 4am on the 21st if I connect to a US server (13 hours difference). In terms of actually being to play the game after work, the Korean server is probably better for that. Also, just generally now, if you do unlock the game early, you have to stay connected to that VPN while you're playing it (I dunno if putting Origin offline make much difference, there may still be some communication) until the game release date and time in your location.

Wasn't it China the country that always get the games first? I think it happened with DA:I and maybe ME3.

From what I can tell, games usually unlock at the same time in the Asia-Pacific region, which is more or less advantageous depending on your time zone. So a game might be out at midnight in China and 3 a.m. in Australia. MEA will be out on March 20 at 23:00 local time in China (15:00 GMT), so it's the same time as in Japan and Korea.

This is off-topic, but does anyone know whether there would be any issues if I were to buy the origin code from amazon.com with a US-based credit card, and then activate the game on origin in some other part of the world?

If I use 00.00 A.M. 21 March PST as general release time.
My Country (THAILAND) is 10.00 P.M. 20 March WIB/GMT+7.
It's around 17 hours before USA release time.

I confirm this works.
My original Release date was March 23rd.
Once I connected to a random USA server, it changed to March 21st. However, this works only as long as VPN is in action it seems, as when I quit Origin -> disconnected from VPN -> started Origin again, it went back to March 23rd.

It should be enough to have the VPN active while starting what's left of the preload and while finishing it and starting the game. During the download and while playing you can disconnect the VPN for a better connection. That's my experience from using VPN with a South Korean server to play DAI early.

To much of a hassle for me personally, I can wait two days. ( patience being a virtue and all that )
Out of curiosity, can this vpn trick be considered a loophole or does it violate any actual terms and/or agreements ?

I think the only issue I read was about buying games on Origin, with a VPN in Europe for a more accessible dollar base concurrency.

You can use VPN to start the game and then turn it off and even play multiplayer with your normal connection, no need to turn off Origin. The VPN is only necessary for Origin to think that you are allowed to access the game in the first place. Turning the VPN off during the download and online play is recommended since it cripples your connection. At least that was the case with DAI.

I think once you unlock the game it will remain unlocked; no need to turn off Origin or disconnect from the web. Usually, unlocking a pre-downloaded game means decrypting some of its data; nobody encrypts it again.

In the PC Gamer article it was stated that Titanfall officials said "as long as they're playing on legitimately purchased copies", people wouldn't be banned, even in Multiplayer. I can only imagine BioWare officials to handle this in a similar manner, but if people want to be on the safe side, they could put off playing MP mode for a few days. I can't see there being any issues with unlocking the SP campaign.

I can't see there being any issues with unlocking the SP campaign. Playing SP first makes sense anyway. Doing MP without SP will spoil SP due to seeing enemies/locations beforehand. So my remedy is to play SP for the 2 days left till March 23st and then try MP on that day.

I tried with a Korean server and it works. Then the strangest thing happened - I disconnect the VPN, restart Origin and it still says I can load the game on 20th March. Is it a bug?

Ugh each release same crap. Why can't they just unlock it at the same time for everyone? Because the physical copies would still be bound by the release date and retailers would be pissed, and EA could run the risk of having their games banned from store shelves. For whatever reason, the retail deal they have in place for the game is that the release dates abide by the standard for each region so digital copies are stuck to it, too so it doesn't look like EA is favoring one retailer over another.
