Please NO SPOILERS FOR ME1I'm going to play ME1. I never made it past somewhere between hour 5 and 10, gave up, and skipped ahead to ME2 an entire year after my first attempt at the Trilogy. Now I've come to love Shepard and even played MEA. I'm possibly quite spoiled on everything in ME1 of significant note. But maybe not. So I'll put my PT stuff right here until I finish ME1. I'm considering doing two PTs of ME1 at once. Female Paragon Shepard and Male Renegade Shepard and carrying both those save files forward. That way, I can see what I hope are the drastic differences and outcomes while I'm still used to these games controls. ME1 Let's play begins Page 51 Everything below the spoiler was Original OP So, I love Dragon Age; have 3 Trilogy runs under my belt, I role play and craft character histories, I bought all the books, I watched the movies, I've got the T-shirt. You get the idea. So, under suggestion from another player melbella , I bought the Trilogy for PC. When I'm on long assignments in other states, I only have my PC for gaming. The first game lost me when I realized I didn't care if the Rachni Queen killed the universe after I released her and I stopped playing. On top of that, I have carpal tunnel, and therefore, prefer to play games that allow for a USB hand held controller. The PC version of ME1 and ME2 doesn't, only ME3. Which is why, considering ME1 fell flat for me, I will give ME3 a better chance because it won't be hurting me while I play. EDIT ADD: Apparently, there is a controller mod. So, I will start with ME2.The other things I didn't get about Mass Effect 1 was: - the Good Guy/Bad Guy points I had to spend my level points on just to have freedom of speech.
- didn't understand the battle system at all. I'll just go with a point-and-shoot soldier this time.
- Seemed to be two kinds of lockpicking?
The spoliers I sort of know is that: - apparently EVERYONE DIES at the end of Mass Effect 3 and somehow this is reduced by playing Multiplayer. Which I will hate and everyone who would try to play with me would hate, and so I guess I'll be getting the Everyone Dies Ending.
- You can get an AI robot with Joker in an Aveline/Donnic from DA2 kind of way.
- I watched some scenes of the Garrus romance on youtube but whenever they talked about events, I had no idea what they were talking about.
Ummmm... I think that is it. My only plan is to date Kaidan, because Garrus looks like a walking space cockroach to me and Liara was super pushy in 1.
TLDR; I'm a PC only player giving Mass Effect series a second chance by playing ME3 ME 2. Already found ME1 boring, but if ME3 ME2 is so cool I can't stand it, I'd likely go back and play the first. Dowbloading ME2 and ME3 now. The Trilogy I purchased last year includes the Extended Cut, Pinnacle Station, and Bring Down the Sky, The Normandy Crash Site, Cerberus Arc PRojector, Cerberus armor and weapons, Firewalker Pack, Zaeed- the Price of Revenge. It's all troubleshooting till page 5 so you can skip the first 4 pages. I start ME3 on page 22

Please NO SPOILERS FOR ME. ---But I'll be sharing my thoughts so spoilers for anyone else who hasn't played. The spoliers I sort of know is that: - apparently EVERYONE DIES at the end of Mass Effect 3 and somehow this is reduced by playing Multiplayer. Don't know where you get the everyone dies from.
Since you're downloading ME3, I would advise downloading the extended cut as well. I believe its still free. That will make the requirement for getting a certain scene easier.
If you have any questions or like some tips, let me know

What themikefest said. Make sure you download the extended cut, it will eliminate two things you may be worrying about in your spoiler section. Good luck!

ME1 already lost me- even with a controller I have 0 interest. Since there is a mod--Should I start with ME2? HAve you used the mod? I thought Kaidan wasn't in 2? If I look up romance options I will inevitably learn more than I should.

I've never tried any mod myself, I shot them bastards up the traditional way... with mouse and keyboard.

If I look up romance options I will inevitably learn more than I should. I haven't used the mod myself but I hear it works well. The big advantage if you start with ME2 is that you build up a lot of friendships with people, which you'll meet again in 3. I'd even go so far as to say that capitalizing on these pre-built relationships is one of the greatest pros of ME3, it really does that beautifully. So yea, if the mod works and you got the time, definitely go for 2 first and import the save. As for Kaidan, he has sort of a cameo in ME2 and it's a shitty one (even the writers kinda acknowledged as much). Apart from that and a few other quirks its a really good game though, so you'd miss out. But hey, let's finish Witcher 3 first, can't have them all at once.

Gileadan and themikefest I am downloading the Extended Cut. This made me laugh. ME3 is already 55% downloaded. I told ME2 to download but I don't know how to change download order now that it's started. I wonder if this mod is as easy as DA2 mods to use. I looked at pictures on the Wiki while ignoring all the text to avoid spoilers. Jacob meets my romancing standards but then he doesn't appear in the list in 3. Is there some sort of break up option between games so I can date Jacob in 2, finish that game, then date Kaidan in 3?

I, too, thought Garrus looked too weird to romance...until my Shepard met him in ME2 and started talking to him He's actually pretty funny. Anyway, I'm mostly going to stay away from here given how fast you play games. I don't want things spoiled for me. You should come say hey in my stupid newbie thread though.

I put an order in for a PS4 charger cord replacement. As it is right now, I'd have to be a foot away from a 32+ inch screen TV standing the entire time...and even then, the controller seems to go dead even with the cord plugged in. It's interfering with cinematics and battle and it's annoying. the cord arrives the 10th and today is my day off. when the cord arrives, I'll go back to TW3, I'm not giving up on it. ^^ I've made myself finish Main Street, (an awful gratingly boring 'classic' book), I can finish TW3 easy.

So, Jacob's romance is ... weird (both in 2 and 3), that's all I'll say. I'd say, just go into the game without a plan and see where you end up.
On the mechanical side: You can always switch up romance partners between 2 and 3. There are no restrictions.

I liked Kaidan the moment he said he liked strong women in the first game. But I didn't like him enough to continue playing the game just to see the romance through. So I was sort of looking forward to him in 3. But I also didn't want to go romance less in a Bioware game my first PT if I started in 2 to allow for a Kaidan romance in 3. Is there a Mass effect equivalent to a Dragon Age Keep for between games?

Is there a Mass effect equivalent to a Dragon Age Keep for between games? There is the Genesis DLC for Mass Effect 2 (and there is also a Genesis DLC for ME3), which allows you to make some decisions at the beginning of the game but at least PC, it costs extra. You could use Gibbed's ME2 savegame editor (or the ME3 one if you want to skip 2) but you'd really need to know what you are doing. Also, if you start with ME2, you might want to watch this: EDIT: There is also this web page: www.masseffectsaves.com/index.phpIt's actually pretty cool. You can go through some choices on the web page and then download the appropriate save (both for ME2 or ME3 imports). Don't worry, you can adjust your characters appearance at the beginning of every game even if you use an import so you don't have to stick to the face of the downloaded save.

AnDromedary So all the races, including humanity, are Solent Green for the Reapers? Kinda reminds me of The MAtrix as well. Computers using humans as batteries. I'll just go with whatever ME2 considers a base game state which includes a solo Shepherd, I'm assuming. Then I guess I'll look to see what ME3 considers a base game state before choosing to buy.

This is a tough one, actually... not sure how much they are charging for the Genesis DLC, but if you start ME2 without importing a savegame from ME1 and without picking your decisions via Genesis, it will default to some of the more casualty-heavy outcomes from ME1 (to put this as spoiler free as possible).

I'll just go with whatever ME2 considers a base game state which includes a solo Shepherd, I'm assuming. Then I guess I'll look to see what ME3 considers a base game state before choosing to buy. Well, this is the summary of the events of ME1. At the end of that game, no one really know the motivations of the reapers. They only found out from Sovereign and Vigil (a Prothean VI) that they come into the galaxy and wipe out every advanced species every 50.000 years. For what purpose exactly is unknown. (also, see the EDIT on my previous post, regarding saves, might help). Gileadan : Yep, more than that, you'll never meet a few pretty awesome characters since it will be assumed that they are dead at the time of ME3. But you are right, the general tone of ME3 will be much darker and you will have less options if you use the default worldstate. Yet another good reason to start with 2 actually. EDIT: By the way, speaking of DLCs, I am not sure what's already included in the Trilogy package but I recommend you at least get the following DLCs: ME2: Lair of the Shadow Broker and Arrival ME3: From Ashes, Leviathan and Citadel Those are must-haves IMO as all but Citadel really deal with essential parts of the main plot and should have been part of the main games really. (Citadel is just awesome. ) I do also recommend you get the other story DLCs for ME2 and 3 as well (Overlord, Kasumi's Stolen Memories for ME2 and Omega for ME3 are all worth even the rather steep price IMO). They are optional side stories though and not that relevant for the main plot.

Oh yeah, isn't there a Kaidan vs the racist chick choice in ME1 where one of them dies? So, I'd need to make sure Kaidan was alive for me to date him in 3.

If you can play ME2 at all, I would recommend it. Have fun, maybe you will like it. I have never romanced Jacob, but I think he is okay. Thane's my one True Love of the MET.

If you are doing a playthrough starting with ME3 or even with ME2, I would recommend you obtain the Genesis DLC for whichever game you're starting with and use it to introduce some of your own decisions into the game rather than just going with the defaults. The experience generally seems much fuller since the dialogues are more likely to refer to those past decision than it does by just striking out in 3 with the defaults. The Genesis "comic" will also give you a little bit of context for the previous game(s) that you'll probably find somewhat useful towards helping you make further decisions as you play.
Speaking with my son, he suggested you might find it more comfortable to play with a gaming pad rather than the full keyboard and a mouse with a thumb wheel rather than the traditional mouse. He apparently tried using the controller with a mod and didn't find it very satisfactory. I play on an Xbox, so it's not an issue with me and my arthritis.

I don't think there is a website where you can make the ME1 choices. The Genesis DLC is a comic that you can page through after ME2's intro scene and make your choices as you go along. If you don't import or use Genesis, Kaidan will survive ME1 if you play a female Shepard, otherwise he dies and Ashley lives.

Yea, ok, didn't realize, on the site I linked the "click on choices" thing ends after three choices (gender, alignment, romance option). Still, there are saves there with pretty much every possible combination of the major choices Shep can make in ME1, so you can pick and choose. If you want to shell out the money, Genesis is your best option of course, as it also gives you a pretty good recap of what ech choice was actually all about. If not though, I'd say the MassEffectSaves site is probably your best option.

I'll see if my trilogy buy includes it. The problem also seems to be in having my arm extended as well. My whole right arm and both wrists don't like being in the same position for long. I usually actually play a mouse on my chest or even my belly for it to be in a comfortable place to use for more thana quick click. And I've placed the keyboard tilted in my lap as well. I don't think a gaming pad will help that. thanks though, I did look it up and watch someone explain a gamepad on youtube.

Trying to figure out what all the Trilogy I bought came with. Found this on Origins...Mass Effect Trilogy includes Mass Effect Pinnacle Station and Bring Down the Sky ME3 came with the Extended Cut. I also see that it's downloading The Normandy Crash Sight, Cerberus Arc PRojector, Cerberus armor and weapons, Firewalker Pack, Zaeed- the Price of Revenge. None of those say Genesis. AnDromedary mentioned ME2: Lair of the Shadow Broker and Arrival ME3: From Ashes, Leviathan and Citadel Overlord, Kasumi's Stolen Memories for ME2 and Omega for ME3 And I see that none of the things I got match up with those either.
