Morrigan gives several reasons to defile the urn of sacred ashes. 1. You may not wish to engage and kill a large group of cultists to preserve the ashes. From a non-gaming, lack of plot-armor perspective, this makes sense. Is it worth risking your life to kill these cultists over ashes? 2. You'll be rewarded if you defile the urn. You'll still get what you need to save Arl Eamon, so this is personally a pure benefit. You can brush off any potential advantage as "needed to stop the blight" like Grey Wardens tend to do, if you wish. 3. Preserving the urn and letting the world know about it will only strengthen the often oppressive Chantry's hold over people. A non-Andrastrian, especially one with a history of being oppressed by that religion, would very understandably take issue with this. They may even defile the urn purely out of hate. Historically, it's not unusual for cultists to destroy relics of rival religions either. One tempting reason for me to defile the urn though is to kill Wynne. It's the third bloody time she can potentially turn on you! She's really asking for it. Some of the companion betrayals I understand, like Shale (despite its boasting about its golem superiority up until that point) and Wynne when you first meet her since you're determined to kill her and the others. But why is Wynne taking defiling ashes so personally that she'd actually kill one of Ferelden's last Grey Wardens in retaliation? She's not even a priest! Leliana responding this way makes a little more sense (but still not justified IMO) since she never shuts up about the Maker. It is rather irritating in DA:I how Leliana doesn't take responsibility for her part in being killed by the HoF. She did attack first. What'd she expect the HoF to do at that point?

I only did it once to unlock Reaver and to get the achievement.

Besides gaining the Reaver specialization and satisfying one's curiosity of such outcome, there is not much use to do so.

for the trophy and watch my Warden behead the bard. excellent. After I got the trophy, I loaded an earlier save, killed Kilroy and his clowns. The redhead is happy.
