After many days, I have thought of a new question. What is your ridiculous irrational fear? Other people's opinions of me/my actions. What really helps in your case is remembering that most people don't pay attention to you nearly as much as you think. Remember that the majority of people are so busy with themselves and their own stuff they hardly take notice of your fuckups and your potentially embarrassing issues, and if they do then they hardly do in full detail. They think about for a minute and carry on without remembering it tomorrow. I hope this does not sound rude or condescending, because that wasn't my intention at all. That being said, just make sure you don't get captured on video.

That being said, just make sure you don't get captured on video. My problem is, I do remember other people's fuckups... So I always have to wonder how many of the people that witnessed my fuckup actually also remember it, and probably retell it as a funny story at social gatherings. On the plus side, I've grown out of being bothered by that thought, so I actually don't mind someone having some fun at my expence.

Just remember the 20/40/60 Rule: When you're 20, you're worried about everything everyone says, you think they're talking about you and you're always wondering what people are saying and thinking about you. When you're 40, you really don't care if people are talking about you or what they're saying....And finally when you're 60, you realize no one was talking about you anyway.

This is a question for everyone: how do you deal with unwanted flirting attempts?
Personally, I don't know how to deal with it because I really am not used to people flirting with me, so I just get uncomfortable and try to change the subject.

I wouldn't know because I've never had a girl flirt with me. If I did, it wouldn't be 'unwanted'...I would welcome it, and hey, I might very well flirt right back. To add to that....I have flirted with girls (and one in particularly flirted back equally hard....we hit it off right from that moment). People around us joked they "could hear wedding bells already". But in the last 20 years, I haven't had any success either way, so I've kinda forgotten what it's like. Would definitely like to experience it again, though. I wouldn't complain.

I wouldn't frame it in terms of "unwanted" flirting, but rather unexpected, and in theory i wouldn't mind it, regardless of whether or not i fancied the person. In practice however, I would end up perplexed at it happening due to it being something that doesn't exactly happen, either that or i wouldn't even pick up on it in the moment, lmao.

This is a question for everyone: how do you deal with unwanted flirting attempts? Personally, I don't know how to deal with it because I really am not used to people flirting with me, so I just get uncomfortable and try to change the subject.Mhh. That's too bad. Just imagine a video game. DAII for example. If you never pick the heart option, or the flirty sentence when a female character shows more than a friendly interest to you, or when you talk with her and there are never flirty lines from your character, there is little chance she can be interested, or interested for long. Nothing happens. It's exactly the same in real life. It's not with neutral discussions that you get a girlfiend ( it's a little different with women, men being a little more direct and proactive at hitting at them ). It's not with neutral discussions that you can seduce women. If some flirt with you, you should even jump on that. Neutral discussions all the time are for friends. If you are ignoring every flirting attempt, the only thing you will ever get is friendzone for people or for you, people that romantically loose interest if that's what it is of course. Girls can be silently interested ( like he is cuuute, I like him, moving on ), but for them to make a big step from the thought " he is cute " and consider you in their mind as " a potential partner " the flirty tone is there for that, shaking sometimes their usual behavior. To show my point about the importance of flirting, that could make things possible, I have this personal experience for example : In september, there is a woman in my company, the new digital training manager, 23 years, really beautiful. For her first day, I had to show her what was my job in my service. I was picked by my boss, because I had the best results and was also the guy who complained the most about our IT tools. Most guys of my team looking at her and and told me I was lucky. But she was very serious and focused, and negative, she was quite hallucinated by all the failures that she noticed in one day, and that I also pointed out to her, rolling often her eyes. So yeah no. It was no fun. She seemed very cold at that time to me. A cold beauty. And women who are cold princesses don't appeal to me, even pretty. ( only in video games ) A lot of nice neutral discussions though. But she barely looked at me, as if I was not really relevant. Very smart, She was always serious at the beginning, and you had to be careful with your words since she was quick to dismiss anything stupid you said. I would never have thought I could physically appeal to her or that someone from work could interest her. To be honest I didn't think at that time I was her match. But she was friend with another colleague I knew, so I often talked to both when they were together, and she could see me often, see who I was, the same for me and she started to appear more human to me, talking about her life. She was just listening before when we talked, though. Funnily enough , the first personnal thing I learned from her was how a lot of policemen were assholes and gross, and abused of their status sometimes to try to date her, forced her to give her phone number to call her in the night just for personal stuff, romantically interested. Several did that with her, and she felt powerless, because it is something that nobody takes seriously, not even court justice. I admit. That did make me even less confident to try anything with her, especially at work, wondering if she was suspicious with all men flirting with her. But that made both of us a common point, we disliked the behavior of a lot of policemen that behaved like thugs while having supreme state autority and taking advantage of that, which was disgusting. Being a thing that strongly mattered to me, of course she won a lot of points in my eyes, I won a lot of points in her eyes with that discussion. - Yeah I can't stand policemen that behave like thugs and there are a lot like that infortunately. I know it from personal experience. So she started to smile, and the more she smiled to me, the more that made me want to talk with her. Then one day she neutrally told me she liked my smile. I thanked her, that was like a signal I was waiting, she was just being nice, but that was enough. I wanted to try. Then with my gaze, my smile and my words I subtly attempted the flirty options with her for days without ever asking for a date. And from there, from one step to another one it's like she started to see me otherwise. Warmer, more receptive, looking way more at me when I was talking to her, smiling, always attentive, while before just serious she looked elsewhere when I was speaking to her , and at the end flirting back at my attempts which I would never think possible two months ago. I invited her to the bowling we organized in my team and just after we went to a night club for her birthday that was the same day. Things happened.. I met her for the first time in september last year, the night club was in november. It's not easy to flirt with women at work by the way, you have to be careful, it's delicate... So two months as a result, that impressed a lot of guys. ( there are a lot of hot girls in my company, but few dare approaching them ) Obviously if I had never picked the flirty options, things would never have happened. She would have just seen me like a random colleague from work like all the others. And it' almost always like that evverywhere. Flirty sentences are powerful !!!! It's just one example from my life, I have plenty of others. On the opposite, I also missed opportunities in the past, when I was shy, because I was too neutral. So I state go go go ! Show that it is welcomed, appreciated, flirt back when it happens, be proactive if you could be interested ! Good luck !

Show that it is welcomed, appreciated, flirt back when it happens, be proactive if you could be interested ! Good luck ! Look, I get that you're trying to offer advice, and I appreciate that, but wasn't why I asked that question. Besides, atm, I am very much not looking for a relationship because my life is still too unstable to bother with dating. Not to mention that me being ace (asexual) makes dating much more complicated than it would be for most. And even if I was looking for a relationship, looks wouldn't be much of a factor for me to begin with. This isn't to say that I have no relationship experience, it's just limited. As for flirting attempts I've received (at least, those I recognized at the time), there were about 3, 2 of which were customers when I was working on a Wendy's drive through window which was basically them saying something along the line of "You're cute", which I just kind of blanked for a moment before getting back to doing my job. The 3rd was.... well, it wasn't anything like that. The other 2 were fine because it was a 1-off thing that would be easily forgotten, but the 3rd was a coworker (was working at a Harbor Freight warehouse) who was probably double my age (I was 22 at the time) and just would not stop with all the 'flirting' and rather sexual comments (she even went so far as to repeatedly ask if I had a gf, and then eventually assumed that I did without any evidence to support that, which seemed to only lead to her making even more comments), all of which just made me want to keep my distance because not only was I not interested, but if I'd been a woman and she'd been a guy, it likely would've come off as predatory. Unfortunately, she was an ops coordinator for my department, which meant I had to go to her to check my work every so often. Obviously that's not the kind of situation I had in mind when I asked my question, but it did inspire me to ask it in the first place.

After many days, I have thought of a new question. What is your ridiculous irrational fear? I am absolutely terrified of the dentist, even the mere thought of going there gives me a near heart attack. No real reason, unless I've blocked it out. My dentist is probably more afraid of me still though haha. Birds. I blame Hitchcock. I'm not so scared of eagles, falcons, and buzzards. Those flocks of robins feasting in my crab apple trees, however, freak me right the hell out.

Personally, I don't know how to deal with it because I really am not used to people flirting with me, so I just get uncomfortable and try to change the subject. The amount of times I've been flirted at can be counted with one hand and still not use all the fingers. Rude suggestions are completely another matter and require telling people to fuck off. Anyway, when I don't want to reciprocate to flirting, I just ignore it or tell them I'm not interested.
