New question: do you cook? If so, how and what? And when did you learn? I do all the cooking. My husband is pretty much useless in the kitchen -- he always has to have the EXACT INGREDIENTS, a clear recipe to follow, and if the recipe says a pinch, he panics. I go with the improvisational approach, and I have a special fondness for curries and live fermented kraut. My parents both cook, as does my little sister. Thanks to the vagaries of timing, my dad did most of the meal making, but we all enjoy playing in the kitchen. To quote Morrigan: I... can cook. But if it is edible is a question of how much you want to live. I'm very much as your husband in that I must have the exact recipe and quantity, combine that with my very bad confidence it is not very often I try new things. The fun thing is that my dad was a professional chef and most of my siblings like to cook. I just try to stand out. I don't have a specific time when I started yo learn, I tried to pick up things when I lived home and then I just did it when I move out. New question: do you cook? If so, how and what? And when did you learn? Does heating up microwave meals count as cooking? If so, then yes I do cook. Question: What is the worse book you've ever read and you could not get through. Something other then Twilight or 50 Shades of Grey. I tried reading the Bible once and it bored the crap out of me. Another Question: What kind of stuff you can't stand in books? For me that's when the author takes pages and pages describing the environment, particularly buildings. I'm not really good at imagining buildings and I mostly don't care to know the architecture, just get on with the story. The 2 worst books I started on would be the Bible and Mein kampf. The bible was just boring and Hitler could not write. He may have been good at speaking, but that did not translate in the book. I can't stand when an author do "light descriptions". So it would be the opposite of what you dislike. When an author don't take the time to do an accurate description of the environment, people or objects I don't feel like the author care. Then it can go to the extreme, for example one of my favorite author Robert Jordan and his serie "The wheel of time" has very clear and nice descriptions of everything, but he liked to repeat that in every book of the serie. And that adds a substantial number of pages in the last of them that I just skim through.

New question: do you cook? If so, how and what? And when did you learn? Oh yes, without wanting to boast, I've become a very good cook over the past couple years because of several reasons. I'm not a huge fan of cooking as past time activity but in these times I found cooking to be a necessary evil for a healthy diet, especially for me since I lift weights at a competitive level and I need a balanced food intake. So good health and powerlifting / strongman demand cooking. Next up is spicy food, whats commercially available around here is not just laughably mild, no, its also tastes very poorly. I love chili and the Mexican plus south American cuisine in general but you're hard pressed to find a good restaurant serving that stuff around here. You have to cook it yourself, thats why I grow all those vegetables and chili in my garden. And the last reason - I do not have a partner so I have to do that food thing all by myself. But what does all of this have to do with good cooking? I'm a perfectionist and it turns out cooking is one of those activities where perfectionism really pays off. My favorite dishes to cook: enchiladas, all variants of chili, various fish dishes (especially salmon), potato pancakes, cake, etc. Oh, and I learned how to cook from various tutorials, my mother and also from plain old common sense.

Thanks to the vagaries of timing, my dad did most of the meal making, but we all enjoy playing in the kitchen. I was the reluctant cook of our relationship. When we first met my skills included cubing iceberg lettuce, adding tomato, olives, and onion, pouring a vinaigrette over it and calling it a meal. I moved in and her refrigerator had a half cut mummified grapefruit that must have been in there for six months, and 5 bottles of Molsons. She had assured me we had every thing needed in the kitchen. That turned out to mean a 9 inch sauce pan and a toaster, still in it's box. The knives and forks were complementary and plastic. The expresso machine worked but had never been plugged in. Out first year together was more about getting rid of cardboard from Michelangelo's and old fashion Chinese takeaway boxes. Oddly, I sometimes miss those meals. We ate out a lot. Over the years and some regular amount of trial and error I have managed to improve substantially and can even do several kinds of breads and pastries now, although for some reason, no one likes my stroganoff. My wife has even had some success in the kitchen from time to time, although the girls do get concerned when she is cooking dinner.

March 1st we celebrated 12 years together. When we first came together I had to leave my posting and move to Binghamton so we could be together, although her position required substantial travel. All was fine for about 6 months, but I was not having any luck finding employment, an issue that was important to me at the time. I had run out of my own money and my father had to increase my allowance. She took great exception to that and we had several arguments about it. So, in a abstract way and like most couples we argued about money. Other than that we've not had any large issues, well except the amount of traveling she was doing, but we worked through that and now she works from home most of the time. When ever we sit and talk about issue she always starts with, 'What is the best thing for us?' I don't think you can find an average amount of arguments that a couple have or should have. It probably depends on how compatible you two are. I hear a lot about submissive and aggressive behaviors and how they fit into the natural make up of a relationship, and that may be true, but my wife is the most orderly and assertive person I have ever met and I am a true believer in chaos theory. Apart from the stereotyping that lesbians have to endure, we are a couple that want the same things and we agree on how to get them.

New question: do you cook? If so, how and what? And when did you learn? I can heat up a mean can of chilli. Does that count? I can boil my own hotdogs, and bake my own french fries. But that's about the extent of it. Question: What is the worse book you've ever read and you could not get through. Something other then Twilight or 50 Shades of Grey. I tried reading the Bible once and it bored the crap out of me. Another Question: What kind of stuff you can't stand in books? Catcher and the rye was another one I couldn't finish. I've never tried reading the bible, but I'm not exactly religious, so I don't think I would get much from it.

mattig's post gave me an idea for a question. I don't know if this has been asked yet, but what the hell. Who is your favorite author, and what is your favorite book? I don't really have a favorite author. Closest things would be Tom Clancy and George RR Martin. Favorite book was Without Remorse by Tom Clancy. Everyone gives me crap for liking it... (it is a rather violent book) but hey. Runner up was Asshole: How I got Rich and Happy by Not Giving A Damn About Anyone by Martin Kihn. It was just a fun read.

And i baked cupcakes not so long ago and they were also tasteful ( again at least to me ). But as i said i'm still learning and some dishes are also fun to make and the more "difficult" the more fun i have making them. And i'm sorry to hear that your husband is pretty much useless in the kitchen.

Yup, I cook, the meals are never fancy but they're usually tastey. I make a lot of meat sauces and stir frys that I put on pasta, mashed potatoes, perogies or rice, I also like to throw together taco's, burritos or a spicey chilli, and I make an ok rack of ribs, roasts or a stew. I like tossed green salads, but I don't make them as much as I'd like to.

New question: do you cook? If so, how and what? And when did you learn? Despite the pic technically yes. My grandmother taught the most and more recently my ex. I also just have epiphanies when buying food and just trial and error (this is rare now that I live alone and don't need to feed others) Problem is I do not follow recipes which means like the carrot cake that I've done +30 times in my life never comes out consistent. Every single one has looked different and even tasted different while made from exactly the same ingredients. I tend to forget time too and forget stuff cooking. Other problems are that I'm really picky on stuff that I like and I just don't have the will to stand in kitchen. I have zero interest in cooking, my main goal is to get food fast and like the taste with least effort possible No matter the looks and preferably just leaving it to cook so I can do more interesting things while waiting. So nowadays my cooking is basically just cooking usually chicken or a fish fillet (seasoned with salt and lemon pepper). Chop some cucumber and sweet capsicums with it. Sometimes I put extra effort and top my chicken with some yoghurt and honey And no I don't get bored eating the same, because it's what I like.. Looking like that:

I definitely don't cook. I try sometimes, but it always ends in disaster. I can heat up things in oven though and boil edible rice/pasta/noodles so I guess I won't starve at least.

As for things I can't stand in books, I sometimes hate it when the author ends a chapter in a cliffhanger and then goes off to talk about another character or some other uninteresting bullshit in the next chapter. So it's like I have to slog through the whole thing to get to the interesting bits again and the author knows it. Also inconsistencies in the narrative or logic of the universe the book is set in. Once the foundations upon which your world is built are set up properly, stick to it goddammit!

I can bake lasagnas, make decent burgers and meatballs. Cream based soups are a favorite and I've made more than a few recipes on whatever was available. Apples that have gone too soft are a boon, since all that's needed is to skin and slice them before tossing them into a pan with cinnamon sugar. All in all, hearty comfort food seems to be a specialty of mine. Not big on desserts so I've never bothered with making cakes or pies too often. Canned soup doesn't beat my homemade chicken noodle soup with fresh celery and carrots with egg noodles and garlic, salt and pepper.

Question for people who are in a relationship or like have been before: how often do normal couples argue??? Ive been dating my girlfriend for nearly 7 months now and I dont think weve had one argument haha Also follow up question: what do you/did you argue about??? I, actually, have something to add here! If your not arguing because your avoiding fights, trying to make her happy (or her make you happy), that isn't good. It means your bottling up your problems, and one day they'll just explode. This could also apply to avoiding topics, because you're worried about starting an argument. If your not arguing, because you really can't find something to argue about, then I'd think your good. But then, I haven't been in a relationship since high school. So...take my thoughts on this with a massive pile of salt (instead of a grain of salt). I think compatibility might be a big part, we're a good example of how opposites can attract but equally... we dont have anything to argue about, financially Im... ok I guess, and shes absolutely fine... we havent really got anything to like put stress on the relationship at all, and that might be why we arent arguing Either way, Im happy with that question: do you cook? If so, how and what? And when did you learn? Every day I make breakfast, lunch and dinner every day, I also bake bread, cakes, cookies, other desserts... I dont really buy so much pre-made food, I just buy ingredients and make my own from scratch. I like to experiment with vegetarian food also since I am one... Im less confident with meat than I am lots of other things because I dont have muuucchhhh experience with it, but Ive had lots of compliments about my food when I cook meat so eh... I think its just things Ive picked up from my mom over the years, we used to cook together sometimes, I also used to cook for her when I was growing up... plus I cook and bake when I feel upset and/or down, so I get quite a lot of practise I have a few books full of recipes, but I end up changing and adapting them and make my own up too sometimes But its been years since I actually weighed out ingredients and the like... I just go on 'this looks about right', and mostly manage to keep things consistent... I mostly try and avoid using oil in my food though, I dont really like using it... but cooking relaxes me, and I do it all the time
Question: What is the worse book you've ever read and you could not get through.
*actually likes both Twilight and 50 shades of gray* Even though I know theyre super bad (and sometimes inaccurate... when it comes to real vampires and bdsm anyhow), I like them...
I think the worst book ive ever read is probably Ender's Game... I DIDNT like that book at all... definitely not, no way, worst book Ive ever read for sure
As for what kind of things I cant stand... well, Im a pretty big fan of young adult fiction, and one repetitive thing which comes to mind is teenage drama... theres a series which comes to mind about vampires (not Twilight... more action-y than Twilight, and a generally better representation of vampires in my opinion)... but theres a guy who works to hunt vampires, and hes apparently more interested in causing problems with his girlfriend than he is hunting down the guy trying to resurrect Dracula its pretty funny, but it gets a little "Yeah, dude, get on with it" after a while
Also, this also goes for movies and tv shows... but I dont like it in books when romance stories are just like forced, and 2 characters who would never end up together get together with 0 development, just for the sake of having a romance... I love romance in novels, but it has to be done like... properly I guess in my opinion, anything else is just lazy
