Oh wait! Oh no! Isn't there supposed to be a scene where your LI comes to you before you go on the suicide mission? Did I miss a scene with Thane? Will that screw me over for ME3?

It looks like you locked in his romance, you should've gotten the romance scene. Did you try reloading a save before starting the suicide mission to see if it will trigger? Or, is it possible you might've accidentally broke it off with him?

ME3 recognized the romance when I imported, so I can always watch the romance on Youtube.

At least it seems to have carried over into 3.

Thane is a great character and the only one I felt stayed 100% true to his original characterization in 3 while continuing his arc in a way that felt organic. The scene when he dies is 1:1 what I wanted to see before ME3 even shipped.
Also, I've been watching a really good LP on Twitch by a certain Mirggles whose reactions I relate to a lot and she was pretty devastated by Thane's death.

Because I played Mass Effect 3 first (for Wii U which had no Citadel DLC), my initial reaction to Thane was more a a perplexed feeling than anything else. Who is this random green dude in the hospital who I can talk to? Wait, is that the same guy who is now saving my ass on the Citadel mission?? Am I supposed to care that he's dying? This was the biggest disadvantage to playing ME3 first. Things like Thane & Mordin's fate didn't have a large impact on me. When I began playing ME2, because I knew what would eventually happen to Mordin, I had a hard time forming any kind of attachment to him - in fact, I found him somewhat annoying and kind of snobbish. This was not the case with Thane. Despite knowing where Thane would end up, I fell in love with his character. Replaying ME3, I felt very sorry for him and felt a sense of loss when his time came. I may have teared up a little... The one thing I wish they had done differently in his story line is I wish they would allow you to convince Thane to come along with you as a squadmate in ME3. When the Citadel is attacked by Cerberus, they could have made it so Thane came with you no matter what. Because you convinced the poor dying Drell to come along with you, Shepard would've felt more responsible for Thane overexerting himself eventually leading to his death... I know this seems like a weird thing to wish for, but I think it just would've made for a more emotional end for Thane and better story telling in general. That's just me... inb4 TLDR response: WHOO! Go Thane! Lost but never forgotten!

We had Thane's memorial service yesterday at the apartment. It was beautiful and heartbreaking. I couldn't bring myself to watch the videos Kolyat forwarded to me; his letter is enough tonkeep me strong and brave.

You should watch the videos too though. They made me sad and angry on my Shep's behalf. 6 months + with no contact and you come back to him in the hospital. Whole thing made me My headcanon for Thane is much different than what he got in game.

Go Thane! Lost but never forgotten! <3 Well, Thane does tell you that he is requires continuous medical treatment, and he is past the time the doctors gave him when you talk to him in the hospital. He has trouble breathing. His mission in ME3 is basically giving what was left of his life-force to stop Leng. Not to kill him, just to stop. If he became a squad mate, and went around with the PC, traveling on a space ship (even Normandy), like he is Okay, this specific point would have been lost, and Leng killing him would feel like Thane failed, when he succeeded.

I've been on this thread before and posted some fun Thane stuff, but quit my account. Yet, here I am again. So posting some fun Thanemance stuff: SourceYa know since Thane's romance, I haven't been able to really enjoy any romances BioWare creates anymore. I like Aric Jorgan's romance in SWtOR. I might have enjoyed Solas's romance if it was not race gated. I noticed in the old official forums many old Thane fangirls also gravitating to Solas before the game even released. For me it was his sad eyes, bald head, intellectual persona, and how some of the pre-release images showed him with two of his middle fingers placed together like Thane's , so Navee might be on to something there as well. Anyway, i'm really cautious about how the ME writing team will handle straight femRyder's romances, and until I start seeing some major spoilers, I will be sitting out ME:A-romance-threads-speculation-hopping this time. This is mildly liberating, but also a little sad since about now I would be in all of the other new ME:A character threads, embarrassing myself. But nope, I feel nothing! Oh well! More Thane time!

Hello. I just started ME2 last week. I thought I'd romance Jacob but the dialogue felt bad... Then I was going to give Garrus a chance... But then Thane called my Shepherd Siha and Garrus lost the romance race. And I was thinking about why those other two didn't work out. And I'm going to point to the Flirt dialogue Shepherd says AND the guys response after right after Shepherd flirts with them. Yoi come on SUPER strong with Jacob...Jacob acts totally shocked and is like.. I have never thought of you that way. And it seems like he still is having difficulty changing mindsets even when he asks you for drinks. Shepherd brings up sex right off the bat with Garrus. Garrus isn't as shocked as Jacob was, but still surprised. He admires you but he's never considered romancing you. He's optimistically open to the idea, but the still seems sex focused. Even the next time you talk to him, he brings up the sex thing again. With Thane, Shepherd is more subtle. "Just friends? Chuckle. that's a start." Confident, showing interest, but not suggesting a tussle in the hay right off the bat. Thane isn't shocked, he's intrigued. Then he opens up to you and calls you a sweet nickname. Then e tells you what that nickname means, which is amazing and shows you how impressed he is with you. And you hold hands. And then you get to make post save the world vacation plans. Sex never comes up, it's all nice and smooth and natural. His tale reminds me a lot of Zevran, who ties for best DAO romance for me. I think there is a sex scene later but I haven't gotten it yet. But I wanted to come by and say hi to the other Thane fans, as I am a newly born one.

I agree with you on Jacob, I wanted to give his romance a try, but Shep comes off as a total creep when she's talking to him. TOTAL creep, and we don't have any control over it. Plus I was spoilered on the total romance, so I don't have much enthusiasm over it anyways. Garrus I adore, but you're right. They are friends and colleagues, and suddenly Shep comes out of nowhere with "Let's bang!". It ends up being a lot better than it starts out though. His ME3 stuff is really sweet too. Welcome to the fan club.

Garrus does bring up a bang-ging story first. Thane is sweet to you even if you don't start a romance. It feels like there is respect for each other on both sides and that's a nice feeling. I hated talking to Jacob because my FShep acted so out of character towards him.

I'm happy to say in my just-finished ME2 game, Shepard NEVER said "I just wanted to talk for a bit" to Jacob. I did romance him once though but he accidentally died at the Collector Base. Haven't romanced Thane for a while. I probably won't again without re-installing ThaneMod (and it might be the new version by the time I get around to it). It's Garrus' turn this trilogy run.

And you hold hands. And then you get to make post save the world vacation plans. Sex never comes up, it's all nice and smooth and natural. Welcome! Pretty much this, yes. Thane's romance has better flow and build-up for me and it isn't burdened with unwanted awkwardness about sex. (Which reminds me... be sure to check-in with Mordin. He'll have something unique to say about your romance. ) Thane is so mild-mannered, thoughtful and physiological that with or without romance I just love him. He's one of my favorites of this series. I would've thought his spirituality could be off-putting but he's not some creepy zealot. It's something that grounds him and gives him perspective in his life as well almost like a preservation of his dying culture. I also think the Drell are an interesting race, and that they look cool. Unpopular opinion: I was thrilled that Garrus was an LI but it felt strange for femShep to suddenly start sexing him up, a close friend, even though his awkwardness is endearing. I love friends-to-lovers romances, but I guess I just didn't like the execution of his. For me Garrus has an ok start, great middle, but an underwhelming end. I love his friendship, though. I guess I see him as more of a brother, so that doesn't help his romance. I actually like to flirt with Jacob sometimes because it amuses me. But that's it. His romance in 2 isn't anything stellar, I feel, and rather than improve it in 3 they ruined it.

Pretty much the happiest moment of my MET runs was when I met Thane and the guys on the board told me he is romanceable. I did not think it was possible to have a character I really, really liked as an LI for a female PC. It's never really happened before. At best it was the second best, unobjectionable choice. I typically fall head over heals with one, and only one character in each Bio game I play, and Thane was that special guy for me, so to have him as an official romance, oh, my! Best thing ever! I really hope to see that again in ME:A. But my luck may run out. Thane was perfect, Anders was rather close (Nathaniel was it). Can't really expect them to hit a bull's eye again....
