I believe Sanderson would do it. As for the magic system, you could do away with much of the cumbersome aspects and replace them with something more workable in a game. At its core, the Mistborn magic system is simple and straightforward, with clearly defined boundaries, which is one reason why I find it so compelling in the books, and one reason why it would work well in a game adaptation.

The black actress as Fringilla is the kind of trendy 'progressive' thing I expect from Merican casting, but the actress playing Yen is actually a bigger concern. 22 years old and she has to play lover to 35 yr old Cavill, mother to a 17 yr old Ciri and a complicated, driven, passionate and sometimes overbearing woman? Good luck.

Good luck. Yeah, she has her work cut out for her portraying such a complicated character. She's pretty but she's not really who I had in mind for yen ( honestly, I don't think I'd ever be satisfied with any actress playing one of my favorites). However, I wish her the best and hopefully she can pull it off and win me over with some good acting abilities. The same goes for Cavill as well, as I would have preferred Mads.

Well, agewise I don't think it should be a problem. Sorceresses in the Witcher universe are after all supposed to be almost eternally young and beautiful looking due to their magic. Whether she can act the part remains to be seen.

Well, I’m finally giving the Witcher series a try again.
I finished the first game, then made an abortive attempt to finish Assassins of Kings a few years ago. So I’m going to finish that and move on to Wild Hunt.
I have actually read the first two books, but I didn’t like them much, a bit too gratuitously bleak at parts.

I'm still having some difficulties getting into the games, but maybe I'll at the very least give the books a try and watch the games online.

Kinda suprised seeing all those character names from later books like Tissaia and Fringilla being cast already and I hear there are leaked audition sheets for Istredd and even Vilgefortz found online. Because it means they all are probably gonna have a role in the first season already instead of later seasons like book readers like me thought.
Although maybe this was to be expected. Series would probably be little boring if it was told only from Geralt's perspective like in the first two books. More POV characters keeps things more interesting for the viewer as long as it doesnt go too much into Game of Thrones direction with that. Ah well, good chance at least to really flesh out all the characters and the larger plot right from the start and focus on previously unexplored areas like Yennefer's early years in Aretuza. This is probably why they went with relatively young actor like that; so she could act believable younger Yennefer in flashback scenes or something being mentored by Tissaia de'Vries alongside Sabrina and others her peers.
My prediction right now is that the season one will mainly consist of three separate storylines: one being of Geralt wandering the land (occasionally) alongside Dandelion, one for Yennefer and mages in general and one for court of Cintra and kingdoms in general which Ciri will of course also eventually be a part of. These three storylines will naturally interract with each other constantly as the series progresses; eventually forming the larger plotline.
I think battle of the Sodden hill could be a perfect dramatic end for the first season.😍
...Of course all this is just wild speculation coupled with pure wishful thinking. We will have to wait and see how things develop.

Yesterday I finished my second playthrough on the main campaing in Witcher 3. And there is something that bugs me a lot.
CDPR made their own thing with Triss, basically turned her in a main character, giving her good development, etc etc through 2 games. (In the books while she has her moments, it's a secondary character and that's that or so I heard.) Well, what bugs me is, why work so hard in her and then kinda throw all of this to the drain in the third game, trying to constantly tease you through the story with Yen this, Yen that, Yen moments, etc etc, to make you feel that it doesn't make sense to romance anybody besides Yen. (At least that is what I feel through the story and dialogue)
And I find myself thinking, why do your own thing in the first 2 games, to in the end, make this in the last one? Why not just follow the books and go with Geralt and Yen relationship from the start instead of "waste" your work?
Anyway, just random ramblings in the late night.

there is an issue with mod limits that can be solved with a program that merges mods. it's in the nexus. though not all mods can be merged, and this mod right here solves 70% of the problems saving a lot of that mod limit. if you are going to mod the game, this is a essential one. What mod it is? A mod that merges the 16 free dlc. www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/3334Also, do a bit of testing with controllers to see with what you will be more comfortable. I mean, I played this game with Keyboard plus mouse and while it's not bad, can be tiresome at some point, I decided to try with a controller and for me it's much better. It's the only Witcher game I felt that controllers are best I think.

So, I’m playing TW3 for the first time, still in White Orchard at the moment. Any advice for a new player? Combat wise, this is my advice: Use Yrden against mobs of animals, like dogs, wolves and nekkers. Use Axii to stun strong single enemies. Knocking down an enemy with Aard allows you to instantly kill them with a single impalement. Cast quen shield if you see an enemy in the distance. Stamina regenerates quickly outside of combat. Kill archers first when dealing with humans. In the Axii tree, I suggest fully upgrading delusion to open more dialogue and persuasion options (btw, simply upgrading a skill is not enough, you need to equip it in the skill slot as well). If you find a sign stone, rather then just pressing the button to activate it, hold it down. This will award you a free skill point. Witcher gear provides the best armor and weapons in the game. Explore and find the schematics around the world and then craft it. In the city of Novigrad, there is a dwarf banker in the main square that exchanges currency. There are two foreign coins you can loot but are useless. Go to him to exchange it for usable money. Water is the best healing item in the game. You can find it in abundance and it recovers a substantial ammount of health. Meditating will aways refill your potions and bombs if you depleted them (but you must at least have one alchoholic bottle in your inventory for that, such as dwarven spirit or alcohest). Poisons and potions are still useful. If you craft a poison but you're not sure what monster is vulnerable to it, check the codex to see in wich category tell fall into. You can later on use mutagens to increase your powers by equipping them in the same tab of your skill slot. Blue mutagen increase sign power, red mutagen increase melee power, and green mutagen increases potion efficiency. And romance Triss. Redheads rule!

I don’t generally use mods, at least not unless the game is broken without them.
I meant more in terms of gameplay or what not to do early on that could screw me over later

So, I’m playing TW3 for the first time, still in White Orchard at the moment. Any advice for a new player? Sell armors to blacksmiths and weapons to weaponsmiths. If you have intention on pursuing gwen cards, most of them you get by playing against merchants of all types. A few will be caged and tell you where to find them once you free them.

But funnily enough, I'd say that Shani probably takes the win as the most charming romance TW3 had on offer, and this wasn't even a "proper" romance arc... I suppose that this is a part of a theme for me, since I consider the expansions to be in some ways better than the main game. Shani is an awesome character in the novels and CDPR did a good job with her. Very smart independent woman who is very relatable. Her storyline in the last book features the ONE scene that made me cry, so very hard. It has more to do with another character but how that harrowing experience in war affected her and what became of her is one of the most moving tales of the supporting characters to me. ALL their stories are gut wrenching and want to make you weep for mankind. But the part on the battlefield REALLY got to me. More than any Ciri/Geralt/Yen scene somehow.

I tend to dislike tragedies for the same reason I dislike jolly fell good stories. It starts to feel like it's tragedy for the sake of tragedy. In that regard I like TW3 better then TW2. In witcher 3 there is a good balance of moments of happiness and misery, so it doesn't feel like it's trying too hard in pushing towards a single narrative.

[Metro 2033 author] Dmitry Glukhovsky, who appears to be more of a video game fan than Sapkowski, calls him “an old fool” for his recent actions, and believes The Witcher creator “f***ed up.” Glukhovsky also believes that “he regrets it very much,” and that one of the reasons for him asking CD Projekt for more money is because “his wife nags him about it in the evening.”
The Metro author also adds that “he is an ungrateful schmuck, because without this great game franchise, he would not be where he is now, there would not be any Netflix.” The Netflix series is based on Sapkowski’s novels rather than the games, so CD Projekt do not have any involvement. However, regarding that Netflix series, Glukhovsky believes Sapkowski is making a big mistake pursuing legal action against the developer of The Witcher and the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077, “because Netflix can get scared and back out… Netflix does not like legal issues.”www.gamerevolution.com/news/449559-metro-2033-the-witcher-authorIt's on like Donkey Kong!

As someone mentioned, turn off map markers.
The world has more filler than some MMOs out there. In the end though, it's a decent RPG. Just don't go in expecting to find the Messiah of RPG Gaming. It's good, but it's not THE VERY MESSIAH.
Now that I think about it, that probably came before even the first Witcher game was someone's wet dream. By the way, stay the hell away from the first game. That one's The Fetchquester. Start with the second.
Last thing, don't let other people's attitudes ruin it for you. Happened to me.
But funnily enough, I'd say that Shani probably takes the win as the most charming romance TW3 had on offer, and this wasn't even a "proper" romance arc... I suppose that this is a part of a theme for me, since I consider the expansions to be in some ways better than the main game. Care to refresh my memory? I admit I didn't particularly care about things when I played it, but she's a bit of a highlight.

So, I'm still trying to get into the Witcher, but have had a couple false starts. While on the Witcher 3 side, I've been hearing advice about just turning off the map markers a better experience, I'm still a little worried about how some quests won't give you specific directions. And aside from navigation, I'm also worried about the leveling up aspect, with different quests having different recommended levels. Do those recommended levels really matter?
Otherwise, I feel like I would get a better overall experience for the whole franchise if I started from the beginning. I realize not a lot of people like the original game, but I've always been someone who enjoys playing for the narrative regardless of whether the actual gameplay is good (unless gameplay puts emphasis on stressful survival like Last of Us, the new Tomb Raider games, or any other horror game. I don't want to play games to be terrified or feel a tension, I want to play for the thrill and escapism).

Witcher 3 is far more an accessible game, but when I think whether I prefer Witcher 1 or Witcher 3 ... I probably lean toward 1. Witcher is a better RPG, with a better atmosphere, arguably better quests, and a combat system that feels more true to RPG roots. It also had sex cards Witcher 3 is a better game, the open world is enormous, the combat is more actiony, you get to ride a horse, stuff isn't as tedious, things like that.
