Ever since I first played Origins, I have been very sympathetic to the so-called "demons." I played Mage Origin and Mouse was apparently a demon. He was also right about everything he said about how BS all this was. My next encounter with a demon was here, in Broken Circle. I have now completed three runs of Origins and each time I let them go.
The fact is, "she" makes good points. All that Templar had in his future was Lyrium eating away his brain until he was mentally retarded. She's giving him a much more pleasant and satisfying fate.
What's more, it's being practical. We're not here to interrupt this perfectly harmless union, we're here to find Irving. I'm not going to provoke a fight needlessly.
This is just a really interesting choice to me and I wonder what you usually do and why?

I used to let them go until I talked more to the demon. She said she will continue to feed and I realized he will be dead once she's done and she will be free to find more to feed on, so I now kill them.

Depends on my character. My Dalish Rogue always talks to her to see her intentions, then proceeds with the stabbing. My Warrior Cousland just goes for the stabbing. XD

I like Mouse, he's funny and clever, but I don't like the Desire Demon, she annoys me, so I usually just kill her.
Surana didn't care about the templars happiness anyway, but the templar, if left with the desire demon, would be nothing more than a slave without freewill. It's not true happiness, just living a lie.

Always kill them. I think it's a mercy to kill the Templar, rather than leave him to that demon....

XD That's what my Cousland would do. My Amell would follow suit on what your Rogue did, and my Male Cousland just left them alive. He's not exactly the nicest of my characters anyhow... He killed the Dalish because he found them weak, so leaving a guy to that kind of fate is something that guy would do...

F Amell stab stab stab. Because demons freak her the hell out and even listening to them for a second is a bad idea.
F Tarbis talked, stab. Feels sympathy for both the demon and the templar but in the end it is killing people... so stab.
M Cousland let them go. Because he is an arse and what does he care if the demon snacks on a few people.

Two rules my characters try to follow: never bargain with demons and never spare darkspawn. Yep - it works for the Winchesters (and the few times, they did try to bargain with a demon, they failed completely) and it works for my wardens

I've done both. Mostly it depends on my character. Most of my mages aren't going to trust anything a demon says (I don't think any of them let her go, but at the moment I don't remember. I have over 30 Wardens). It also depends on their experience so far in the playthrough: have they gone to Soldier's Peak, been trapped by the demon in the Brecelian Forest, etc. On a practical note, you get experience for killing her. I just wish there was a way to save the templar, but there isn't. He's dead soon no matter what.

What's more, it's being practical. We're not here to interrupt this perfectly harmless union, we're here to find Irving. I'm not going to provoke a fight needlessly. I would argue otherwise. If she is clever -- and demons often are -- then she will realize that the Warden's mission threatens her survival. Hence, I kill her. Can't risk her trying to "shoot" me in the back as I walk out the door, or show up again later bringing friends. Speaking of this incident -- boy, does Sten make a stupid comment or what? He opposes/disapproves your decision to intervene because he believes the Templar needs to earn his freedom back (himself)... The dude is spellbound beyond his senses. How can he possibly fight that? Then the Sloth demon puts all your squad to sleep, and Sten is aware of the illusion around him but you have to talk him into fighting it because he cannot be bothered to do so otherwise. He also whines at you in Warden's Keep DLC if you make a deal with Sophia because "Teh Qoon sez kill demons, no questions asked!!" Frickin idiot.

My past mage killed her. But my recent rouge, let her go. But it was mostly pragmatism that made that call. My party was in rough shape, and I didn't think I could take her in a fight. So, just let her walk.

I always kill her, even though that fight always makes me want to cry (Holy Smite + Cursed Dance = tears).
It doesn't matter how much 'sense' demons are making if their intent to you is harm - their whole MO is to tell you what they know you want to hear, isn't it?

Also, the guy believes all magic is evil and mages can't be trusted with their freedom, but totally approves of a mass blood sacrifice performed by a Tevinter mage, sworn enemy of the Qunari.

The templars are lyrium addicts, but I think, despite this, they have a chance for a normal life, they don't need an illusion for the happiness. Not mention, that in the dream the people can't eat for example. This will kill the poor Templar... Conclusion: kill.

I believe in this case, the moral conflict lies with what you consider mercy and how you will exercise it in terms of this poor Templar who is under the demon's control since the demon offers you no personal reward for letting her be. I keep wishing there was a way to free him of the control, but the only two options in this case are to let him die - you just choose how he will die. I always feel very sorry for that man.
For my evil warden killing this demon is actually far far simpler and more straight forward than for my good warden. My evil warden doesn't feel sorry for a stupid man who let himself be controlled and demon doesn't offer me anything shiny, so STAB without hesitation. Whereas, my good warden would weight out what is more merciful, but in the end if I talk to the demon it says it will eventually jump to other victims and that I won't allow. There are children still left alive in the tower!
I only let her go once on my evil character to see whether anything in the world changes if I do. Otherwise, she offers my warden absolutely no incentive to let her live. Afterwards, hence I haven't found any targeted mini scene that referred to this specific demon, I found no reason at all to let her go on any other warden. Although, if you choose to spare demons when you travel in between the cities instead of the bandits you'll run into a lot of random fights with abominations, a lot of them are orange too. So, letting demons go basically alters the world that its roads gain an additional threat of demons attacking anything walking them. In that game when I bargained with demons I kept getting ambushed by demons wherever I traveled.
Demons and darkspawn are unquestionable enemies of the wardens. When I play good type of warden I tend to go directly for a stab. Whereas playing as 'evil' type of warden, I view their life mission as not making the world as miserable as possible just for the sake of being an arse, but STILL to defeat the blight and bigger threats to the world (yes that demon is a minor threat in comparison that can be taken out by Templars, but why not if it got under a hot hand). The difference between my good and evil wardens is how far each is willing to go to get the task done. If the demon offers a huge pile of gold, a new talent or a skill that will aid in the arsewhooping of bigger demons than her, than I shall take it. But, this specific demons basically asks you to let her go for free. In this situation I'm confident that my warden is in the position of power and offering me 'my life' in exchange for letting her go isn't much of use to me. In fact, my evil warden would be insulted by such an insinuation and lump off the demon's head just for that arrogance. For my good warden a threat to her life would also be irrelevant, but what's stopping her from executing the demon immediately is that it has a Templar as hostage and killing the demon guarantees the hostage's immediate death.
Conclusion: stab on evil warden because you're useless to me and stab on good warden because I want to stop you from claiming any other victims.
