I have the toggle auto run (g) and sprint(c) keybinds, but neither seem to speed the character up? There is also no way to roll or dodge or speed up on the double tap of the directional buttons or space bar?
So... how do you move faster?

The only way to speed up your character is with Shift and that only in Multiplayer.
Your horse will run faster with Shift too tho.

It also annoys me a lot so here is what i do:
for rogue inquisitor: fade touched lurker scales (75% mov speed while in stealth) but you have to do little jumps often enough to stay in combat stance to benefit its effect. but with that, believe me you'll run really fast! For mage inquisitor you can use the same item but you'll have to use the ring of doubt to get stealth, or you do as many others do: you use fade step. Warriors inquisitors get the worst part of it, since the best thing i've found so far is to use charging bull (more effective with the new upgrade of the ability) Hope that helps a bit... cheers

No it's just a masterwork item you randomly get by killing lurkers in the hissing wastes. Just use it when you caft an armor or a weapon and here you go!! Ah, you also need to be arrived at skyhold to be able to use it... the easiest way to get that item is to save and load when grabbing your trials rewards if you have trespasser dlc installed. If not hope to be lucky by killing lurkers... try to save near 3 or 4 lurkers, kill them and if they don't drop it, reload. You also can find tier 1 and tier 2 version of that item on fennecs (everywhere) and quillbacks in the western approach (if i remember well). With the tier 1 version you only get 25% bonus speed which is already nice if you have one, but not so effective. it doesn't worth the effort killing fennecs to drop it IMO. With the tier 2 it's 50% bonus which is really ok. It's a shame there is no running alternative for exploration in that game....

The guys tell me I can switch to the ranged from the DW rogue.

alright then... It seems you won't be able to move faster unless you use the bow you can find in tier 2 chests (don't remember the name), it has a special effects on it, allowing you to move 25% faster in stealth. It has a blue icon and is around level 15 (so level 12 required to use it). yes you can indeed switch to an archer if DW doesn't fit you, just use the amulett you can buy at the blacksmith in haven or in skyhold. Have fun!

I've just started the game, and all those ranged characters pounding on me from their high perches, while I am inching towards them like a paralytic duck is infuriating. I don't need to move faster as an Archer, since I will have the range. I just wish this game was like DA2, that was perfect, loved the DW rogue there. Actually DA:O was not bad either with its unbreakable perma-stealth, heh, so Zevran could take all the traps out at his leisure, then position comfortably for a backstab.

There's no accelerator for speed in DAI. Instead, you can use abilities.
Warrior: Charging Bull
Mage: Fade Step
DW Rogue: Evade (which is nearly spammable)
Archer: Evade or Leaping Shot in reverse
If you don't mind aggroing a critter, you can also Hook & Tackle off of them to move more quickly, but then the rest of the party is on combat mode and moves more slowly, so it's probably a net loss unless you are solo.

There's a mod for this if you're on PC and dont mind "cheating". I'm using it in my latest playthrough and it's a godsend.

Nah, it became better when the character got more abilities. But I switched to a Mage for completely unrelated reasons anyway. He did have far easier time right away, but rogue caught up in EoU fairily fast. Just the first couple-three levels were a pita.

But if you keep playing DAI you will see that its gamplays is actually superior than da2 (except with tactics which are nothing but shit) IMO. Ps: have you found and used a "75% movement speed in stealth" Masterwork (like fadetouched lurker scale)?

Ps: have you found and used a "75% movement speed in stealth" Masterwork (like fadetouched lurker scale)? No, I do not craft. I specifically play sp games so I do not have to craft/upgrade gear ad nausea. I wear what the enemies drop. I played my rogue till level 10, before switching to Mage, and got fine with it. However, I just obtained Legacy, and am playing it with my DW Hawke, and I love it so much more than DA:I rogue. I just like DA2 playstyle far more. It's easier and gives me far better visuals whenever I don't have to pause and switch characters so can just play on muscle memory. Oh, Revel, you are the best my ❤️ In DAI it moves too fast with abilities, the field of vision is too close up, I can't see neither the opponents, not the PC clearly in melee, let alone my whole party. And I have an extra wide, curved 35 inch monitor. Hawke's moves are so showy and cool. Is there an option to hack the max zoom out 2x or something?

i don't share your point of view about da2 but i understand it. but tell me how can you bear what the dev did with the areas and dungeons structures?! Everytime i enter a "cavern" or an "isolated street" i recognize the same matrix they used over and over. it's so boring and gives the feeling that developpers said "we don't car about how you feel about dungeons variety, it's just cheaper for us that way". This is not acceptable for a game of that calibre, in my opinion. Hope everything i said was clear enough... have fun with legacy! .

This is not acceptable for a game of that calibre, in my opinion. Hope everything i said was clear enough... have fun with legacy! . You know, on my first Play through I have not even noticed the areas were reused over and over until Act 3, I was so engrossed in the stories that played out in those areas. plus, it's the city/cave, how different can it be. Looks good, all good. I like pretty backgrounds, but the structure of the game, with a good pace of the quests and the main story just carried me forward and forward, I enjoyed my PC so much, and I rarely actually LOVE playing melee, so it was all marching to the drumbeat. Now, the second time I've played, I saw it very clearly. Yep, the same cave. It was not a deciding factor in me abandoning the second PT though. it was because despite my picking different solution to each quest the game did not react like Mass Effect did. I also absolutely appreciated how easy the DA2 was to get around, while Inquisition drives me nuts with the maps being more convoluted and more mob-infested than SWTOR. For one play-through DA2 was an absolute blast, and should have outcomes of the quests changed the story, I'd be doing 3 PTs. One with a Purple Rogue + Anders (a prevvy mage fancier), one with a red mage + Fenris (a spoiled mage brat who thinks the others must play by the rules, and she is soooo SPECIAL) and one with a Green Warrior throwing his protective cloak around the shoulders of dat poor damsel in distress, Merrill (your every other game Paladin). I love fun, fast, WHOA! gaming with surprises at every turn, good-looking/well-voiced characters, the feel of thrill from the character interactions between my Main and his/her friends/enemies/lovers and the story turns. I don't really delight in exploration, gathering and crafting.

yeah i see your point and the way you enjoy rpg games. that's fair enough for me. personnally i really enjoy exploring, crafting , personalizing, setting builds, tactics and of course a descent scenario with well written characters and well designed environements. To my mind, da2 was good with its action oriented gameplay and tactics with nice visual effects and stuff as well as cool character like isabella, varric and merill, but not so good concerning the story, really bad with the crafting and loot system, and as i said, really crap by varrying dungeons. It's still an enjoyable game for me but i definitely prefer DAi even with its weaknesses. So we are definitely all different and enjoy different things, but the most important thing is to have fun, as you seem to have and share with others. see you domi
