Didn't Kaidan/Ashley also care about Shepard a lot? In fact, wasn't that why they were so upset on Horizon? Even if not romanced, the VS says they would have been willing to follow Shepard into death. " Would have"! The key words here "would have". It's a very, very convenient position - "I would have done anything for you, should you be different! But since you are who you are - I do not want to see you, and this is your fault". As an opposite to Garrus - "you need me, so here I am". Sure, it's writing, a truly bad writing (like Jacob's), but if we discussing what we have, this is it - "VS caring" about Sheppard is preaching about Shepard's "bad decisions" and mistrust to Spepard's judgment, while for Garrus - it's support to the end.

Well, Kaidan comes through eventually, so I'm happy to forgive him. But yes, I really appreciate Garrus' unconditional support; it feels like a true partnership with him.

I don't recall if anyone's mentioned this but you know that line he says after his recruitment mission about how some women find men with scars attractive? Because he gives a different line for male Shep, I wonder if this was a flirt line from him? I think so! With MaleShep he says this: I'm not impartial tho. Everything Garrus says from Archangel mission and so on it sounds to me like he is flirting without even realizing Fem Shepard: Hell, Garrus, you where always ugly. Slap some face-paint on there an no one will even notice. Garrus: Ha-ah! Don't make me laugh, damn it. My face is barely holding together as it is. Ah, probably for the best. Everyone was always ignoring you and hitting on me. Time for you to get a fair shot at it. Fem Shepard: Ermm...I am female. Garrus: Oh! I wasn't told... Fem Shepard: Garrus: Garrus Vakarian, trolling Shepard since 2185 My brain sometimes goes to weird places! I regret nothiiiiiiiiiiing!

I didn't even know Garrus says anything different to a male Shep. That's what I miss out on playing females all the time. How adorably cute.

I was scrolling through my photos and came across something I forgot I had. This happened when I played the citadel dlc and it just made my night! I don't know if I loved Wrex's stuck position more or the look on Garrus' face... It seemed to compliment the situation well So sorry for the crummy quality, had to take it on my phone and the camera quality sucks but I hope you guys will be able to see what I mean!

I'm so sad, the writer of Sense and Flexibility, my FAVORITE Shep/ Garrus fic, has decided to not only: not write the sequel (it ended right before ME2's suicide mission,) but to quit writing all together. She's so brilliant but I know that unless people love what they do, there's no fire in it.
Bummed.

I'm here to report to duty and on Garrus/Shepard ship. The romance is easily the best and most versatile of all my bioware romances. Also I cannot believe why this fanfic hasn't made it here yet?? My headcanon these are on Archive of Our Own: Jaws that bite, claws that catch by Fistful of Gamma Rays Strange New Worlds by Pluto My Shepard and Garrus are sniper and tech buddies. Also I never let Garrus win at the Citadel Anyway cheers to all comrades in this love boat!

Everyone always lets Garrus win, but I felt that had I been in his shoes I would hate it if someone threw in the towel to stoke my ego. The scene where you let him is very cute though.

I wish there'd been an option to lose not on purpose but rather because your character isn't a sniper. Does Garrus really think it's a fair contest with an Adept or Engineer Shep who's never used a sniper rifle in their lives? Of course he should win, unless Shep uses Overload or some biotic ability instead.

I don't know...my Vanguard was actually a better sniper than my Infiltrator. Weirdly enough, the time dilation kept throwing my aim off.
I'd have rather had the choice be a minigame of actual aiming and shooting. Then it'd feel like an actual win against Garrus.
As it is, I like the idea of Shepard letting Garrus win the round because the dialogue is so adorable.

I always like to miss the shot on purpose... I mean, my canon Shep was a vanguard too so I imagine she really wasn't better at sniping. But, just because it's such a girly thing to do, and (much like dancing) a sort of out of character moment for my Shep. It's cute and one of my favorite scenes. Source: linkOk sorry, this one is kind of sad, but one of my favorite fan arts of Garrus.

Of course he should win, unless Shep uses Overload or some biotic ability instead. So much this. If they had only put "miss the bottle" without specifying that it was on purpose I would have chosen it as my Sentinel used pistols and ARs. But since it said "miss on purpose" I had her shoot the bottle because my Shepard doesn't like to lie to him. Also, I don't really like the delivery of the "There, there, I know there are... other things... you're good at" line -- it sounds a bit like he's saying "your shooting is crap, but you're great in bed." If he had delivered it straight instead of adding innuendo (darn sexy voice!) I would have liked it better.

I don't think Garrus actually thinks she's a bad shot though, it's just supposed to be friendly or flirty teasing. I mean, I don't think it's something he'd just say if they weren't already close friends who were both pretty badass with a weapon.

I always felt like Garrus knew Shep missed the shot just for his sake. I imagine Garrus to know her too well to actually think she would miss lol. But that's just me, it's cute either way

Because he gives a different line for male Shep, I wonder if this was a flirt line from him? I think this line comes after rescuing Eve from the salarians. Mordin makes the comment to Even, who says she's not interested. If you then go find Garrus he'll make the comment about women finding men with scars attractive and hoping no one tries to marry him to Eve to as a means of cementing the krogan-turian alliance. I don't know if he says this to FemShep but he definitely says in the mShep.

You know, the entire Trilogy, I was expecting something to happen to make Garrus really awesome & for me to go crazy over his character. I love Turians, they are all great, don't think I met a single one I did not like. And Garrus was the nicest guy, and the most loyal companion in the trilogy. But just nothing really out of the ordinary happened. His Archangel chapter was awesome, and I did not get to witness it. Leaves me a touch disappointed.

For instance, I like Liara but I can't complete her romance, I liker her more as a friend than a Love Interest. Maybe that happens to you with Garrus. About Garrus romance in my case, my Shep felt in love with him in the moment she met him as Archangel. Romancewise, the second game is not the best, it's OK because it's when the romance starts. Romancewise ME3 was incredible, with little details and big conversations. And the best date ever, but I can't be impartial

I guess I did not expect Garrus to be so much the nice boy next door, after the ME1 introduced him as young hot-head and a passionate crime-fighter, and the Archangel sequence. He was a far better take on a nice guy than Kaidan that was in a usual Bio-mold of a fixer-upper guy with boring problems. But I never felt like clicking the flirting options with him, even if they were there in ME1, and when I was given the second chance in ME3.

I don't know if he says this to FemShep but he definitely says in the mShep. Yes, first time he says it is right after his recruitment mission in ME2, after he is shot. He mentions it again in the actual romance dialogue, so yes I definitely think that is meant to be a flirt there. Which means, Garrus technically does flirt first. Which should put to rest some of those "is he really interested in femShep?" questions. Not that we needed to. His romance is not everyone's cup of tea. For instance, I like Liara but I can't complete her romance, I liker her more as a friend than a Love Interest. Maybe that happens to you with Garrus. Yes, what I really like about Garrus is he is kind of both those things. Basically the nice guy/best friend archetype. He has a rebellious side, but I think that has more to do with his passion to help people and stop criminals, than out of a desire to be bad. He can be hot headed but he's principled, and he's willing to go around "red tape" in order to stop crime and protect others. His character arc seemed fine to me. Maybe because he ended up paragon in my playthrough, and I used Wrex a lot in ME1, who takes a lot of the more renegade banter? So after his crisis in ME2 is resolved, his character development in ME3 makes sense to me.
