Seems awesome. I'm pretty sure I'll get this one. Not that I'm impressed by "playing evil" or even interested in doing it, on the contrary, but it seems like a game that will throw out my PC in a world in turmoil, where it'll be hard to survive and decisions will be uncomfortable. It should prove interesting. What I've read suggests you don't have to play evil. But it's a world where the Evil Overlord is in charge and you are just a minion. So we can't expect to just fix everything with the power of our awesomeness.

Oh believe me, the definition of evil runs the gamut in this game...and so far it's set up so you do fix a lot of things... Without giving away too much, one thing ive seen that I like is how your character acts as a travelling judge for the the Empire...so you're given power right from the onset. There is a decent amount of role-playing involved in those too, although a lot of it is faction-based in the end. There are other examples too...some plot related...that in my opinion at least, aren't as solid of an example.

Is it polished ? Tell me, tell me! Only managed to play it for two hours yesterday and spent most of it in character creator. Prologue setup is rad. If played PoE and found it decent, you'll find this one good. TES like skill progression looks surprisingly organic here. Lots of reactivity and skill checks in dialogs. Interesting art style. And, well, original (nontraditional) plot is one of main features here. Interface is too big for my taste though and combat is somewhat clumsy. My mage likes to run into enemy's face to use ranged attack against him.

What about polishness? Did anyone hear about major bugs? Does it play like a "finished" product ?

Haven't any bugs at this point, didn't hear about something major from other people either. "Finished"? Can't say something is missing in everything I went through so far.

Is it polished ? Tell me, tell me! I finished it the day before yesterday and had a blast. It took me 24 hours to complete it and I did everything (some paths are longer than others apparently) I could in my playthrough. My run was bug free and I only had the game crash on me once My one complaint about the game is the lack of capes; gimme capes! I was rather disappointed that Act 3 was 40 minutes long; as it stands Act 2 is the meat of the game which takes 18 hours, while Act 1 is around 6 hours. I am currently on my second run and looking forward to all the changes (not all that far, so I'm uncertain what will be different). I'm looking forward to the Act IV and V expansions/DLC that are listed in my copy of the artbook for the game XD A really rad game, my game of the year so far!

The game was shorter than I expected.
But that alone is not enough to lower it in my estimation. There is ample reason to replay the game and roleplaying opportunities are fairly frequent.
I'd have preferred if the companions had a bit more meat to them but I know Obsidian is allergic to that kind of thing unless you have some old bat being edgelord as fuck about everything you do.
Overall I'd give Tyranny an 8 out of 10

Maybe I missed some stuff or chose a different location than you in ACT 2 I chose Letherian's Crossing over the burning library so that might explain the difference.

Well my review will be up soon, but here is a preview...
"Video games often glorify “evil” with rebellious anti-heroes, passionate freedom fighters, or altruistic rule breakers all the time too, but what does it really mean to be truly evil, in the sense that your beliefs, your convictions are shaped by the circumstances you find yourself? What sacrifices do you make to your morality in the face of the greater good being against the law? This is the question Tyranny, the latest RPG from Obsidian, grapples with, and while providing a fair representation of evil beyond evil’s sake, it ultimately misses the mark in reaching its full potential."
What does that really mean...when it's up i'll let you read on and find out. Overall, the game is good...but could have been better in my estimation.

There is already an expansion (or a DLC) confirmed? I remember that in P.o.E. case it was included in the stretch goals, therefore we were already 100% sure that they were going to release it, but I did not read anything about planned expansions in Tyranny. Do you think it will happen or perhaps is just something that they hope to release?

A lot of really cool systems and features in this (I'm about 20 hours in on Hard). Some things I'm not a big fan of but overall I've been really enjoying it.

Do you think it will happen or perhaps is just something that they hope to release? I think it'll happen. Tyranny was the second best selling game on Steam for 2 or 3 days and then it was in fourth for 2, then fifth for a few. It's still in the top ten, seventh, six days after launch. Who knows what GOG's sales are like, probably even better. I'd say that normally it wouldn't be an indicator, but since the game is isometric I feel that it won't need to sell nearly as many copies as most games to profit. Paradox Interactive's (publishers) Year-end report will be released on Valentine's Day (Feb 14th, 2017) and will give us a really good idea of how the game sold and therefore the overall probability of DLC and a sequel. I do know that Obsidian does want to make sequels for Tyranny as they kept referring to it as an IP in their Developer Diaries for the game Here are spoiler free pictures which confirm plans for ACT IV and V:

based on those pictures, I'd say the Eye of Sauron built a mass relay from Middle Earth to Terratus, and defeating him will be the next challenge

So....for those who've play Pillars AND Tyranny - thoughts? Better, worse or, "about the same, just different"?
The 'idea' of it is intriguing but I have to admit it hasn't grabbed me enough to buy it yet.

The 'idea' of it is intriguing but I have to admit it hasn't grabbed me enough to buy it yet. For me it seems better in terms of gameplay. Different in terms of story. Some people didn't like smaller locations, but I actually on the opposite about that because it means less pointless running. My main complaints however are - cliffhanger in the end, it just screams "to be continued" - quest dead locks, you might have problems if you complete some things in wrong order. I really hope Obsidian is going to fix these soon enough. - Companions could use more love. Not BW kind, I mean, you'll actually be glad that nobody is romanceable when one of them will try to romance you. I'm talking about personal quests and interaction with them, apparently they don't have much to say to you after Act 2. All in all - wait a little. Pretty sure it will have discount on Gabemas sale. It has terrible sales apparently.

The 'idea' of it is intriguing but I have to admit it hasn't grabbed me enough to buy it yet. Despite some surface similarities, they are very different. PoE is a massive epic fantasy story much in the vein of the Baldur's Gate games, or Planescape: Torment. I'd go so far as to say it's a direct homage to them. And its mechanics are reminiscent of 3rd and 4th edition D&D. Tyranny is more of its own thing. Same engine, but different rules. It sacrifices epicness for reactivity. No classes like PoE, you sorta "learn as you go" like Skyrim. And while PoE certainly had its dark elements, Tyranny probably fits the "dark fantasy" genre better

Gameplay is more fluid in Tyranny, the world is more interesting as well.
The writing in Pillars is more fleshed out however, and the characterizations were stronger there too.
As a game I think Tyranny is a more solid title. As an overall RPG...id say it's slightly below Pillars.
