I get the impression that most people prefer the first origin they chose but I know there are people who favor an origin that they didn't first pick and i'm genuinely curious, did the first origin story you played through your favorite? If so, what origin was it and why is it your favorite?

So far I played three origins:
Dalish Circle Mage Elf City Elf
I still have to play the other origins, but from the three I played so far, I liked Dalish and Circle Mage origin all about the same.

I played all origins, and I like all.
My first origin several years ago was Circle mage (male elf). Maybe this is my favorite origin.
My two latest: Cousland (male warrior) and dalish (male archer). This two is my favorite characters.

Cousland is my favorite
Although Surana was my first origin, didn't really like her enough to continue. I liked Amell more, actually, lol.

The first I played was City Elf (male). Didn't like the family & wedding theme too much. Soris and Shianni were great characters though. Maybe the origin works better if you play a female character.
My favorite origin is dalish. I like the intro and the beginning with you and Tamlen in the forest hunting trespassing humans. Later you get to know your Clan and some important characters like Marethari and Merrill. Tamlen is one of my favorite minor characters in DAO. His story is very tragic, especially if you play female Mahariel who had feelings for him. Mahariel is the only Warden who already has fought against darkspawn and is tainted by the blight. For her becoming a Grey Warden is actually a cure, because she would die otherwise (or become a ghoul like Tamlen), where as to other Warden's it's basically a death sentence. Her becoming a Grey Warden makes more sense to me than say Cousland (which really didn't make much sense at all).

My first attempt was as a Cousland. I abandoned her about half way through. Then I played Neria Tabris. Her character fit my mood at the time like a glove and off we went on a wild ride. Since then I've played all the origins and done all the romances. But the city elf is the one that hooked me on the game.

I had picked Dalish rogue as my first playthrough because I had seen some clips over at YouTube so I wasn't at a complete loss as to what to do. It wasn't my favourite playthrough by a long shot, but I did enjoy the character a lot. After going through the rest of the origins (prologue wise, at least) I think I can safely say Dalish Rogue is indeed my favourite. (As if my avatar didn't make it clear enough... )

I was a female city elf first time round, and looking back at it I'm decidedly meh about the origin. I found Dalish interesting but too short and light on the Origin itself. However the Tamlen scene and Dalish perspective throughout the game made up for that. My favourites have been human noble and dwarf noble. Being recognised by Loghain and Teagan and ending up as Queen gave my Warden a real set of roots in Ferelden, I loved that. And the Aeducan origin is so so good. It's barely touched upon after that sadly, even in Orzammar, but I loved the attitude it let me have. 'Got a problem? Mage causing you trouble? Someone sick? It's okay, for I, Morven Aeducan, have a really big hammer! Stand aside.'

I didn't even want to do it at first, but it was so great.

I played all the origins first before choosing one to play the game. I chose the noble origin for my first playthrough and it became my favorite.

My first one was femCousland and it is still one of my favorites. But I also like femCity Elf and both dwarf origins too. Going back to Orzammar as Aeducan or, especially, Brosca, gives it a whole new flavor.

No, CE turned out to be my favorite and I avoided it for awhile. Dalish was my first, which is probably my second favorite. I also made a lot of humans early on.

I got this impression too. I've played through all the Origins, the only one I genuinely didn't like was the Magi origin. My first was Brosca which is still very dear to my heart. But.. on about my fourth, I played through the Aeducan Origin which I really like as well. It's a tie between the dwarfs for me.

Wasn't so for me. I played the mage origin on my first playthrough, which was pretty confusing and I swear I got betrayed/deceived like 3 times in the space of a hour during that origin. However I will admit I will always have a soft spot for it being my first introduction into the Dragon Age setting.
I've played all the other origins except for dwarf commoner and overall my favourite origin would have to be human noble with city elf as a close second.

For me, I started a femSurana, but didn't like the way she looked. So I restarted and made a Cousland. While she isn't my canon, my final playthrough of Neala Cousland is. A close second would have to be femAmell.

The first Origin I played was a Circle mage ages ago. I still like that one well enough but it hurt the first time I played and realized I couldn't keep Alistair as king. I typically now play a Human Noble scout but will change it up and make Alistair a Warden. Favorite wise I still like the Mage Origin and the Dalish Elf Origins

The first origin I played was femCousland and I loved her story. Later I tried Dalish Rogue, but never ended this save (but will someday if I feel motivated). Played femAeducan gone mad & elven Amell after that. Had a lot of fun with these two. Tried city elf once, but never ended this save either. Like with the Dalish I lost motivation midway of the game. Although i really like the elves in origin I missed something (and I can't really describe what it was).
But femCousland remains my favorite. She was my first character in a bioware game and I loved her family. Got hooked up immediately. Got lots of positive surprises on her way through the main story as well.

I tried out the Human Noble for my first run. I got as far as Lothering before I abandoned it.
Thing is ... I couldn't rationalize why my Warden wouldn't be trying to find Fergus. I couldn't get over it. And to be honest, I didn't feel all that connected to the character.
I tried the City Elf origin because of that free Coercion point and fell in love with it. I tried the other origins but none of them measure up.

The first time Human noble, I like all things about knighthood. And I like what happened in Highever. I try one time, city elf for the oppression they suffer, and now I have started a fem circle mage concerning their stigmatization. But Coustland is my best, maybe only for what happens with Howe and the revenge we'll take later, and the character I built : compassionate with mages, open-minded, strong willing I can't play without...He's like a drug.
