Here here! My first time beating it was last year and the feeling is something you can never get again. I hold that memory close because of those feelings.

I think that's the same feeling from the first time beating any bioware game. At least the RPG's.
I remember the first time I ever saw that big reveal of KotOR. I was shouting at the screen 'no way!'. I wish I could experience that again *sigh*.
Similar feeling with the first time beating Dragon age. Though it was less of a surprise, and more of a 'awww yea' moment.
Edit: same with the first run through of mass effect.

I this game... Next to KotOR it's my favorite Biower game. Masterful from the opening to the final credits. However, reflecting on this fact makes me a bit melancholy, as games like this will never come from EA or Biower again (perhaps they'll fade into obsolescence altogether)

First Origin was elven Mage. 'Tis my favorite. I also really like having the Circle as my first experience of DA going into the other games, so that makes it even more special. I've never played it as a human, though, because I really like being an elf. I've also played: Human Noble City Elf Dalish I've enjoyed all of them; their narrative, what they offered to the story and how they each made the game feel a little different. (Though my Cousland was obviously adopted because there was no resemblance ) I've never been interested in the dwarf origins, idk why. Feel like I should do them eventually, though. I've already dabbled a little with the Commoner one...

My first origin was the human noble. What I really liked about that was that playing this origin made killing Howe soo much better.
My favourite origin is mage though. Shooting lightning at fools and so..

The first origin I played was the circle mage, which I abandoned mid-way through Ostagar.
I finished the game for the first time with a human noble, whose origin I did enjoy.
But my absolute favourite is easily, without contest, the dwarf noble origin.

Almost, first i played when the game came out was City Elf and it is damned good, but my favourite is Dalish Elf. Wrote a long post about it on the old BSN, mainly i think it is one of the best balanced Origins. Heavy focus on introducing you to the lore without feeling to crowded, lots of dialogue and combat, Interesting twist. Kinda has it all, plus i really like the Dalish Elves. Human Noble, Dwarf Noble and City Elf are almost as strong in my opinion.

Played human noble first and it remains my favourite to this day. It's really well integrated into the main story and I think it really suits some parts of it, such as Denerim and the Landsmeet. I also liked the extra connection with Howe (and by extension, Nathaniel in Awakening) and felt it added something more to that part of the game. Plus in general, I like playing human characters and the origin itself was quite interesting. Next would probably be Dalish elf - enjoyed the different culture and the way you could choose to interact with humans. Quite a lot of lore right from the get go which interested me. City elf was decent enough too, really showed the difference between the two elven cultures. Mage was okay, nice enough introduction to the Fade and demons etc but it didn't grip me as much as the others. Couldn't really get into the dwarf ones. I played through both origin stories but never completed a full playthrough with either. Not sure why, just didn't feel as invested in them.

My first Origins was Dalish - archer - She made the ultimate sacrifice. My favourite was Circle Mage (I also mod my game to play a dalish mage ... outside the circle ). Being a noble was nice, once Ser Gilmore was a companion, dwarves were pretty nice too, but, my Amell was me. I mean, I played her like she was me, without thinking of my companions approuval.

My very first origin played was the city elf female, and that is definitely my favorite. It's such a good storyline, and it helped me figure out most of the roleplay for that particular character. She's still the character that was the most fun to play.
I tried Dalish elf, and although I liked Tamlen, I didn't think the origin itself was that great. The Circle mage elf was probably my third favorite, because I love playing mages and the storyline was good. Plus it made going back to the tower for the quest that much more meaningful. The human noble was really good too, had a lot of excitement to it. Although the human noble made me dislike Duncan, actually. A nice little bonus of human noble was the fact that you can romance Alistair and become queen.
I tried to finish a game with dwarf commoner, but I never finished the game. It was definitely nice to see another side of Bhelen from the commoner side of things though. I also tried dwarf noble, but I never even got out of the origin itself. I just really don't like playing dwarves much at all. And by that point, I was really burnt out on Dragon Age in general.

It is even more fun if you spec as an Arcane Warrior. I wasn't too keen on mage at first since I usually play warriors or dagger rogues but with Arcane Warrior by the endgame you are right in the middle of the fights and taking no damage whatsoever thanks to all the spells available. All of my favorite playthroughs have been as a mage.

My first playthrough was definitely the most memorable and overwhelming one at the same time, because I had to learn everything about the game while playing it, which tied nicely to my Brosca's general confusion as to wtf was going on around her.

My first playthrough was with a dalish elf but I didn't get far after Ostagar before I tired another origin. Amell, Cousland all playthroughs I didn't get very far on until I played Surana. I fell in love with the Surana I created. I felt that the mage elf was the least human hating of the 3 and the mage origin is the least tragic of all of them. I didn't really want to play a warden with some angst in their background and I have a fondness for elves.

I can understand, although In DA2, it would've been nice to have been able to play as a Elf... I would've had a canon full of elfs if that was the case...

No. My first playthrough was female elven warrior. I felt out of water constantly, not understanding things fully or properly. I think I didn´t even exactly get what went down in the elf ruins at first. Noble Cousland was far better experience, since I felt much more in control and more connected to story. The whole family beginning just clicked with me. And I got to be queen

City Elf was my first and still one of my favorites, but nothing tops the Dwarf Commoner origin for me now.
I'm pretty sure I have every line memorized. It's a bit sad tbh.

I still haven't tried all the origins.
I've played (all female) City Elf[complete], Cousland[complete], Elf Mage is 3/4 done, abandoned a male Dalish elf, and I've watched husband play Dwarf Noble.
When I first booted up the game, I was so not interested in the Dalish, a feeling I carried to DAI. Then Solas happened and I've been trying to make a Dalish character I can stand ever since. So, I made a male Dalish Archer that I have abandoned; restart as a female Dalish sometime in the future to take up his spot. In fact... it just occurs to me that the only two games I haven't finished are Dalish elves. One in Origins and one in DAI.
I think my City Elf (my first Origin) rates a pinch higher than Cousland because what can top that dunk into the darkness of humanity when someone"above" steals you from your wedding to rape you and all your friends? And even when that bastard's death is totally justified, you are reminded that you live in an unjust world and someone must "pay" for the crime? My city elf stepped forward and took the full blame, accepting that she would be executed; she had no regrets and would not try to defend the obvious, if ignored, rightness of her Actions. Then Duncan flew in like a hawk and conscripted her. She didn't flip off the guards as she left, but haha, I wish she had.
Cousland. Dear vengeful hungry power wielding sex goddess of death who savored Howe's death so very very very much. I loved that the Origin tied into the end game, slightly better than even City Elf's alienage adventures. (Although it occurs to me that Vaughn is Howe's son? Didn't know it at the time.) But the "all my family murdered and revenge" thing is a tad unoriginal and doesn't have the same darkness as the City Elf. Extra enjoyed being Queen, but still...
I'm enjoying my elven mage but have been irritated in that it forces me to be "betrayed" by Jowan. I don't care about his blood magic! Quit acting like I do! My mage can use blood magic, and does,in battle, if I can be a blood mage why do I have to treat Jowan like trash? And then seeing Jowan one last time is bugged so I can only see it on YouTube. But unlike the Dalish, I will finish Surana.
I'm looking forward to being a castelass dwarf. I think it will give me the feels the same way City Elf did. I haven't watched any of it on Youtube, have just gotten hints of connections.
So, right now:
City Elf (1st game)>Cousland (2nd game)>SMALL GAP what I expect casteless dwarf to be> SMALL GAP Surana>HUGE GAP-Dalish
And I have no interest in playing an Amell (what does human + magic give you that elf + magic doesn't give you twice?) or an Aeducan. Although, I may bother with the latter just to see that "romance" with the guard that my husband didn't get as a male Aeducan. On second thought, I should just watch it on YouTube.

It's not a big thing, and I don't want to spoil it, but at one point you will get an insight into our swamp witch that's unavailable to any other origin.
