Seems like Fexelea started importing and linking accounts. MEA forum is up *looks at her 327 posts* I thought there was less in MEA section...While I doubt I'll be posting on that site, it's good to have my posts under my control. In case, you know, emergency Woah... 1787 posts for ME:A alone... when did I write all that? Oo Damn that is ridiculous. I barely posted in there at all (930).

Yeah, I would love it if someone managed to move over the suicide mission guide and the gibbed save editor guides. Look at the ME2 section for the suicide mission thread I created

I too will have to check it out at some point. Hopefully threads will be preserved in their entirety.

The only things that should really be saved are any various guides or helpful information for all of the BioWare games.
Anything like lore can be discussed again. Many of us know it. If someone comes in asking about something, a discussion will take place (as it should). There's little point in pulling over every single post - though I would like that but things need to be prioritised.

Sure, but the lazy of us don't want to copy and paste if it was just going to be automatically brought over.
This of course ignores some of the wisdom that is present in various combat / strategy threads which were not formally labeled as guides but nevertheless had good info.

Look at the ME2 section for the suicide mission thread I created So should we be manually copying guides here then? FWIW, tentatively, I'm planning to migrate DAI guides onto Fextralife's wiki. Reference content that doesn't change much and where the discussion is mostly about changes that get incorporated into the OP seem a better fit for a wiki page. Wikia itself is ruled out as a host, because it has a "no original research" rule. Fextralife does not. Fextralife wiki has good SEO, meaning, Google search finds its articles at a fairly high ranking, usually 2nd or 3rd, after Wikia and sometimes IGN. That level of exposure is extremely valuable for reference content, so why not take advantage of it? Here's a proof of concept I did for one of my guides: fwiki: dragonage3.wiki.fextralife.com/Quick+Walkthru+HinterlandsIt's a bit of additional work to host/create the article there and then link it here (or wherever), but for tried and true guides that a lot of people have benefited from, it seems worth it. As for the migration of entire threads, that's a more difficult decision. I gots to have my Where Screenshots Go To Die thread! If it lives there, it kind of makes sense to keep adding there as well. But ultimately, where is "there"? Fextralife has a head start, but at some point ViSeIRa's new board may catch up. If they both have full scrapes of BSN Prime, it's going to be a hard decision as to where to continue. There's also malloc/Turing Complete's scrape. I'm probably going to be living in 2 or even 3 places. Here, fextralife and maybe ViSeIRa's as well. The content is important, but the people are more so. If the people don't go where the scraped content lives, I don't know what's going to happen. I mean, what incentive does Fexelea have to host all that archived stuff if the people don't follow?

Initially we will be good on any platform that houses some sort of api/database that we can interact with. The problem of importing the data has already been solved but now we look at the problem of porting that data. Good thing is that we can get the data and transform it the way we want. Related : I looked into some research about api for proboards, it is like not like Vbulletin in the sense of, you cannot really interact with the database. I think mostly because migrations on this site are a premium feature and they wouldn't want the users to rollout their own migrations. Investigation of pointing our database to something self hosted are futile. Update : There is a way but I do not know how much proboards will limit us. The other alternative would be to create a 'bot API.' Initially create a script that acts like a user is logging in and use the api accessible to the user and posts the content in these forums. Drawbacks, you won't be able to tie the user to the content. It would be the bot that stores this data and we probably only use this for archival purposes.
