The threats on the stupid artist who lies on her resume are unacceptable, and poorly aimed at best. As this guy says, no one person is to blame for any failure of this game, let alone be harassed and beyond. Fucking losers.
It is obvious that there is "lipsync only" in many scenes, which is a failure in 2017. Nice that he describes that situation as exactly what it is... there is no animation beyond (bad) lipsync. The result is a cutscene that looks like it might have come out of a Mass Effect mod for KotOR.

I think you're reading more into his comments than was actually there. But not without merit, however. I think the bigger problem then is time. If we're focusing on strong animations...whay gets cut to make that happen, or how much more money and time is going into the game to hit a good quality? If it means going back to canned animations to give dynamic movement to them, then maybe it's worth staying canned.

I always thought it was a quantity over quality approach for BioWare has been touting the "more lines of dialogue then Shepard" for our companions. It is interesting to see someone else with that opinion. Now what I wonder will if BioWare goes to the Quality over Quantity approach for the next game how are people going to react?

Hard to say. they've divided their fanbase and alienated a fair portion of them. If they made a quality game, that maybe was small in quantity but not repetitive, offered a compelling story from at least a couple PC points of view, with quality complex companions... It would sell like hotcakes. It sounds like a BioWare game. Now you have Biower. Pls.

Thank you for posting such a great thread.
If anything this information highlights some thing deeply wrong with Bioware's workflow,some animation examples doing the web rounds display no "emotion" at all and others display exaggerated expressions.Either way I would have though some one in charge or quality control would have pick up on such obvious issue's?????.....but apparently no??

These are fantastic, and the podcast in particular addresses a lot of the different issues. She explains why the PC sometimes has mismatched expressions compared to the emotion of the dialogue, why there's a lack of eye contact, why some scenes seem to lack any expression at all... All the little things that people have been wondering about. I never really thought about the fact that content makers (writers) have to tell the programmers which emotions to use for every single line, and the time and effort it must take to try to sync everything up using the toolset. It was also interesting to hear about the different possible bugs that could cause the issues with facial expressions.
It really convinced me that Bioware must have had a massive time management issue. Perhaps they vastly underestimated the amount of time it would take to sync emotions and animations for all of the dialogue they created. They said it was more than ME2 and 3 combined or something like that, right? I love the fact that there's so much dialogue in the game, but it seems that perhaps quality took a significant hit in favor of quantity.

This was so eye opening to read and I love that other developers give sympathy rather than take advantage.
