Paul Atreides, otherwise known as Muad'Dib; the One who can be Many Places at once. I thought it was "the killing word".... damn pesky spice miners! I just googled (site and citation found here en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muad%27Dib) and you are correct, it is "the killing word" (the meaning of his name)....But I was thinking of and referring to a scene where he gave himself a Prophetic Title of sorts....Before the fight with Sting's character. He says something like "I am Paul Muadi'Dib; The One who can be Many Places at Once..." and during the fight he demonstrates this by phasing himself (like The Flash can vibrate to phase through objects). I have the 1984 original movie (with Patrick Stewart, Linda Hunt, Sting and Max Von Sydow) on blu-ray, but it's not the one I remember or think of when I think of DUNE. I remember one night near the end of October (just before I was due to have surgery) I stayed up all night with my dad and watched a six hour mini series of DUNE.

Muad'Dib is the desert mouse on Arrakis. Paul sees a mouse shadow on one of the moons in his vision and adopts that name when he joins the Fremen. It "happens" to be a killing word when used with the sonic weapons.

It "happens" to be a killing word when used with the sonic weapons. I honestly forget the details, but this kind of discussion does make me excited and interested in continuing to dialogue about DUNE (perhaps in a created Discussion threat if there isn't one already...?) And I am now motivated to watch the cut-to-shreds 1984 blu-ray that I have (Sir Patrick Stewart, Max Von Sydow, Linda Hunt, STING and Dean Stockwell round out the cast) though I know there is another version with William Hurt, but there are a lot of other foreign actors whose names I'm am unfamiliar with. As I said in my above post....I don't remember all the details, as I was just a child of about 7 years old, but I distinctly remember watching a six-hour miniseries of DUNE in mid to late October of '89; we chose to watch that because it was the only thing long enough for the time period I had to stay awake ( all night). I remember the cast being filled with well-known people like Patrick Stewart and Linda Hunt....I remember it being very long, and I remember enjoying it. But I don't remember plot details....and I have never seen the entire six hour miniseries released to Video. The only 'movie versions" of Dune were severely cut in length down to about 2 or 2.5 hours.......And there is so much missing from the story of the original series as it aired.

David Lynch's movie is still the best and unique vision. Unbeaten in artstyle. It is fairly close to the books but falls short with the narration since 3 books in 1 movie just dont fit so well. There's a series I've seen fairly close to the original as well but quite a few cringy art and actings. The series is good to have better lore insight - then again - I'd rather read the books. But reading cannot replicate Lynch's art piece - however lacking in plot and pacing it may be.

My last name is actually super cool, but my internet comfort level isn't there.

My real name is Feliciano. It's a puerto-rican last name but some strange reason my family chose it as a first name.
