After catching a couple of Xcal's streams, it seemed to me that many of the guns in MEA are seriously ill-balanced. So, out of curiosity, I took the gun stats from this page docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1tlfLwF9vzcGevPaK4kic7-QZX1vcfvMyJWfeIkVNnDU/pubhtml and calculated a 'quick and dirty' 1 Clip DPS using the following formulas: Bullet Damage * (ROF / 60) (Pellet Damage * Count) * (RoF / 60) Other Unknowns:Bonus Damage vs Defenses Headshot Multiplier Charged Shot Multiplier Armor Damage Reduction Ramp Up Timings Hipfire Penalty (if any)

Holy crap! Whoever balanced these guns must be the office 'sniper fanboy'. This game needs a serious 'weekly update' posthaste.
I haven't seen most of these in action, but yes, the Raptor is that good. Enjoy it while you can before its beat to death with the nerf bat.

You are forgetting something on the Lanat. It is a charged based gun meaning the numbers you see are it without being charged.. I am also guessing no Isharay and Widow due to 1 bullet per clip?

If somebody can come up with a charge up multiplier, I'll update the Lanat (and anything else that has that mechanic.
Yeah, I omitted the single shot guns as DPS is totally reliant upon reload, which I haven't seen timing numbers for.

So I have the Shadow IV and just unlocked the P.A.W (first ultra-rare)
Why do these guns suck so much? I swear a laser pointer would do more damage. They barely do anything and the overheat cooldown is a joke. These are rare and ultra-rare but they perform worse than a regular avenger.
It's a joke, all I seem to get in the packs are the useless remnant weapons.
Is there something I am missing about the laser weapons? Something that makes them viable on certain characters?

Yeah that was the most fun i had just mowing down the enemies, guns always felt weak even to basic enemies. This time it felt like im. actually doing something, now i wish i could remove that scope lol |

Raptor is fun at silver level or below. I like to occasionally rapid spam snipers...I have my whole right hand off the pa4 controller and I'm using my fingers to tap the shoot button as fast as I can against bosses...
The DPS for snipers doesn't mean much as it doesn't factor in accuracy. If you only hit 1 out of 3 bullets what's your DPS now? Nothing since you'd be dead and spectating...

Just picked up the Paw, performed pretty well in silver, you do need the extended mag mod though. |

I tried the Raptor, I don't feel it, despite what those numbers say. Thokin is good though I felt the same when I first unlocked it on launch day, but ended up using it for a couple games just to get a feel (it was my first uncommon). After you get used to it, it's insane. Definitely one of the best weapons, and 100% gold worthy, even at rank I. The rest of the stats seem to reinforce the general sentiment with regards to weapon balance at the moment. |

Keep in mind some of these are burst fire weapons (like Incisor) and don't have anywhere near that RoF.

People laughed at me when I said the Incisor was a good gun back in ME3, and they laughed when I said the same thing after unlocking it a few days ago. Now I'm the one laughing at how retardedly high it's DPS is.

The actual dps numbers on AR's are gonna be a lot lower most of the time because of the terrible accuracy they have. And shotguns are really bad and need major buffs.

Well, it still does less damage to shields than my piss. Maybe they should really crank up the damage against shields, like 10x more damage against shields but half the damage against armour to balance it. Keep whatever it does to regular health. That would at least make it viable against remnant. |

Haven't played Infiltrator (when do I ever) but the sniper rifles, and guns generally, are meant to be usable on any class. For example, the Krogan Merc on Gold can successfully snipe despite not having many sniper and long range oriented abilities
I like this balance philosophy
