Oh this topic is painful for me at the moment. I put together an M-ITX build with a 12 core Xeon processor, an R9 Nano and a 4K display. But my motherboard crapped out, and now I'm in the middle of getting it replaced via warranty. So I've had to stick the GPU in my normal PC (i7 2600k @ 4.8 GHz, 16GB RAM, etc) and "make do" with that. It's still a very good system but my e-peen is damaged until I can get the build working. Not to mention my wallet. Do you have issues in some games because of the many cores? I've read that specific titles crap out if you have more than 8 cores (either physical or logical) installed and the performance just drops sharply. Other than that PICS PLS. MITX is going to be my next build, but I'll wait for Kaby Lake and see if it's a worthy upgrade for gaming. For work I was considering just getting a Lenovo P710 (which can double as video capture, encoding and editing machine, because even the basic model is overspec'd for Excel spreadsheets ).

The real point is you're not fundamentally upgrade your PCs if you don't change your old motherboard and your dysfunctional case.

FUCK YEAH, NINTENDO PRODUCTS! (pls tell me you have 007 Goldeneye) I guess I technically have a N64 too... it's at my parents house, and I totally bought it with my own money. My little sisters stole it, I don't know why they need it since they both have PS4s now....spoiled brats.

Some Asus X-99 motherboard. A GTX 1080. 'bout 16 GB of 2400 DDR-4 RAM. An I7-6850 3.6 GHz CPU. A 250 GB SSD. A 500 GB HD just to store my user folders, pagefiles and random stuff I never need. A 6 TB data tomb HD. And all of that stuffed into a CM Storm Stryker case. I'm typing this on a Logitech G710+ keyboard. There's a Logitech G9 mouse somewhere next to it.

If we're including every game console I own, then it'd probably include a shit ton of Nintendo stuff too then. GBA, 3DS XL, GameCube, N64, Wii (oosh don't judge), and a PS 3. FUCK YEAH, NINTENDO PRODUCTS! (pls tell me you have 007 Goldeneye) Yums pls. Of course I did, though if I'm being honest, I preferred Perfect Dark over GoldenEye. N64 was a fantastic system tho.

Anyone remember WCW Vs NWO on the 64? Far better than the drivel that passes for 'wrestling games' these days. And what about Shadow Man? I'll never forget Jaunty... the Irish snake of the underworld OT, I still have my Spectrum ZX, NES, SNES, N64, PS1, 360 and One. I wouldn't part with any of them for any cost.

I've got limited desk space, and I needed a smaller case for my PC. M-ITX is the only form factor that work with what I was looking for. 3. Because I can. The idea of having a tiny HTPC size box with more power than hardcore gaming PCs is something that makes me happy. Xeon didn't cost 1000+ though, got one of the engineering samples off eBay for much cheaper.

My computer is at the repair center for the past couple of weeks. Why?: Because my monitor and mouse/keyboard were not receiving any signals after upgrading my ram from 8 GB to 16 GB. The repair center ran some tests and the results were inconclusive; the 980 Ti is being sent to RMAed and I am just upgrading my MB/CPU since without my GPU, I cannot connect my monitor to my current MB. Upgrading from a 15-4670K to a I7-6700K is not much but HT may come useful in future games.
Right now I am using a POS labtop missing the L chicklet key.

I own 1 DS (bought because I wanted to play Star Wars The Force Unleashed but it wasn't out for pc and I did not have the money for a more expensive console),
1 Wii (bought because I wanted to play Star Wars The Force Unleashed on something other than DS and still did not have the money for a ps3),
1 3DS (bought because of Resident Evil: Revelations),
I have very few games for these consoles which is why I haven't used them in a while now.
1 PS3 (bought because my gf brought a lot of ps3 games with her when she moved here)
and (most important)1 pc (two actually ..no three.. but one is shit and one is missing a harddrive (my second PC.. bought because first one was too shitty to run SWTFU when it released on pc)).
I don't remember the specs of my old pcs (other than "they were shit"). The ones of the PC that I am currently using:
Octacore AMD FX-8350 4.00 GHz 16 GB DDR 3 RAM 990FXA-GD65 Mainboard Gainward NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 4GB Don't have the rest in my head right now and I'm too lazy to look it up.
Next thing to buy: a proper CPU cooler. The one that I have currently installed sounds like a chopper when gaming.

The first years of university I didn't have space for my desktop at my single room apartment, so I run games on a laptop with a Celeron 430 (look that up on ark.intel.com ) and integrated Intel GMA950.
Surprisingly it was enough to run engine ports of Doom, Duke Nukem 3D, Heretic, even Hexen ran well. Deus Ex needed a few tweaks but also ran ok, as did many older games. I later put a dual core in it, but the integrated graphics always held it back (especially not supporting basic graphics hardware like Transform & Lighting which ran in software).

For a variety of reasons, I currently game on a laptop. Its a clevo clone with the following specs
4k 15 inch ips monitor (but I game mostly at 1080p) I7 4720hq Intel cpu 16gb memory nVidia gtx980m gpu and most importantly Steelseries sensei raw mouse.
This setup allows me to play on high/ultra settings in all current games (except for Deux Ex: Mankind Divided) at 40 to 60fps.
Probably going back to a high end desktop setup hopefully in the next year or so (gtx1080ti or Vega equivalent on a 27 inch 4k monitor)

There are quite a few rigs here at home but this is what I use for gaming:
Intel i5 5675c + Cooler Master Blizzard T2 MSI Z97M-G43 2x 4GB Kingston DDR3 1866mhz Sapphire Nitro RX470 8GB XFX 500W PSU 80+ Bronze 240GB SSD Kingston UV300
Inside a generic looking Coolermaster case which I don't know the model. Other items I use with this rig:
Dell S2240L IPS Monitor An old Zalman mouse not really worth speaking of A cheap Logitech keyboard A somewhat generic condenser mic A 9-year old Sennheiser HD215
I got no HDD. There is one Toshiba 1.5TB exterior HDD to store my crap. I am looking to buy a HDD sometime in the future. I will probably get a better gaming mouse as well.

I am probably due for a pc upgrade. Might buy a ps4 as well if mass effect multiplayer is any good. I'd like to finally play with some of my sony friends from this community. I might not please some console players by saying this, but if you are to buy a PS4 just to play ME:A, you should rather build a gaming PC. If you live in the US you are able to build a console killer gaming PC for console price. And by doing so you will be actually saving money since you won't need to pay fees to play online like you would on PS4.

The idea of stuffing a $1000-$2000 12-core Xeon in a tiny Mini-ITX build intrigues me. Why? 1. Because I can. 2. I haven't built a PC for more than 4 years. But I've done it a lot in my time and consider myself latently (not updated on details) proficient. And well, there are a few pitfalls which are easy to miss/overlook. One of those is that certain evacuation fan configurations can lead to overheated PSU, because pressure inside the case drops too much. Another is the question if the mainboard can handle the current the CPU will draw? This is not just a question of compatible socket.

I would have to go to my Newegg account and look up the hardware specs of this PC. Lets just say I can play Fallout 4 and Dragon Age Inquisition with the specs maxed out on my 29" Dell monitor.
