So I have D:OS1 on PC - is it solid as well? Also I hear D:OS2 touted as one of the best RPG's ever - is that something you guys would agree with? Sorry, I’m a bit confused. Have you played Original Sin 2 and want to know if 1 is as good? Or you haven’t played either yet? I think they are both very good RPGs. Providing you are happy with the turn based combat, quite a lot of managing skills and equipment, and the lack of cut scenes doesn’t bother you. You need the enhanced edition of 1 for fully voiced dialogue, btw. Combat and skills work differently between the games, but I think each works well. However it’s not particularly straightforward how the skills, attributes, abilities, equipment, etc work together. Definitely worth looking at guides to understand it. I really like the system of having to buy skill books to get new abilities, especially early on where you’ll be trying to scrape together enough junk for new skills. OS1 I found maybe a bit more flexible about leveling than 2, where you seem to need to put more into pumping your main damage dealing stats. But you can respec at will after a certain point, so it’s not much of a problem (other than potentially wasted skill books). I definitely preferred the tone of OS2. OS1 can be a bit quirky and twee at times. Both have dark and sinister goings on with some ridiculous humour (largely if you take the pet pal talent) but it all works much better in 2 for me. The narrator in 2 is a god damn legend, and really helps setting the scene. There’s some narration in 1, but it’s not nearly as extensive. I think the party members are better in 2 as well. There’s just more to their stories and they all fit into the main events. If you’ve not played yet, I’d definitely pick one of the actual characters and play their story rather than a blank slate. Except for Fane. Do not pick Fane as your main character. I’ve heard Mass Effect 3 levels of rage about his ending. It’s fine with him as a companion, in fact one of the more key story arcs. Just not as you.

DOS2 ist definitely one of the best RPG I've ever played, yes. And I was never particularly interested in old school isometric games. In fact, I never played one before!
Voice acting is really great and there is SO much dialogue! Tons of different ways to do quests. The quality of this game is stunning imo.
It's a very funny light-hearted game. Maybe the humor isn't to everyone's liking but I personally loved it.
Can't make comparisons to the first game since I never played it.

So I have D:OS1 on PC - is it solid as well? Also I hear D:OS2 touted as one of the best RPG's ever - is that something you guys would agree with? "Best RPG" is of course subjective and inevitably controversial, but if I had to give the title to a single game, it'd probably be D:OS2. D:OS1 is really good too, and has most of the sequel's strengths as well. They're not actually that different. D:OS2 adds some additional customization (you can play different races now, for instance) and changes the combat in a couple minor but impactful ways (which leads to debates over which has the better execution; I don't have a strong preference myself). The main reason I like D:OS2 better, and why I didn't finish D:OS1, is that the first game has mostly terrible writing. Worse, it has overwrought writing. The story doesn't take itself seriously at all and there are no stakes; characters are gimmicky and go on and on saying little of substance but lots of overplayed, largely unfunny jokes. It's not so bad at first, but after being exposed to it for a while it becomes kind of grating. It's difficult to get invested. Larian took the criticism to heart. They got a proper writing team of seven or eight people—D:OS1 was mostly written by one person, with a second writer coming in late during development. They balanced humor and gravitas a lot better. They bothered to edit dialogue. D:OS2's story is nothing extraordinary, but it's got nothing to envy Bioware or CDPR in their better days. In short, D:OS2 is a much more well-rounded experience, and the only RPG I've played that pairs solid writing and gameplay. D:OS1 is still a lot of fun, don't get me wrong. I was playing D:OS2 with my brother recently, and sadly had to skip most of the dialogue because it's not really his thing. I suspect co-op under those circumstances would compliment D:OS1 well. That game's designed around two players, and most of the story is eminently skippable.

Ooooh, interesting. But playing the whole thing again for 4 new quests. Might not be enough to want to play for a while. Nice to know it’s there for the future though. Had a quick google and found: Larian Studios might be hard at work on Baldur’s Gate 3, but that hasn’t stopped them from also tinkering away on their hit RPG Divinity: Original Sin 2. Today they’ve dropped a new free Gift Bag DLC entitled The Four Relics of Rivellon for PS4, Xbox One, Switch and PC.www.thesixthaxis.com/2020/06/14/divinity-original-sin-2-four-relics-rivellon-gift-bag-free-dlc-out-now/Larian Studios might be hard at work on what now?!!! Is this news to anyone else?

Part of the marketing for Baldur's Gate 3, no doubt. I won't replay for it. Very much appreciated though, Larian!

the Divinity Original Sin series is basically known for its acclaimed RPG components, its vivid characters, turn based battle and the isometric interface, which is like exemplary pen and paper RPG games. However, there are other comparable games that have these Divinity Original Sin 2 like characteristics? Characteristics, for example, being profoundly adjustable, responding to your decisions, and giving a rich and vivid experience. Are there other methodology games that are additionally comparably engaging constantly? Check out here for similar games
