What is the difference between the skill telekinesis and teleport gloves? One can move items, the other can move items plus people? I trained up the former on Sebille, thinking she could not be using that pair of gloves forever but it seems telekinesis is useless? I can't find the skill nor even move anything. Telekenesis is being able to grab things from afar to put into your inventory. So say there's a bunch of poison in your way but there's an item you want beyond it, telekenesis will allow you to grab it without having to remove or go through the poison. If you have enough points put into it that is.

Teleportation is one of my favourite spells. It not only allows you to get to areas you couldn't reach otherwise, it's also very useful in combat. Drop an enemy right into burning oil or teleport that pesky melee fighter far away, so he has to use up his AP to reach you. It also deals a moderate amount of falling damage, not sure if it depends on height difference, but it's best combined with elemental surfaces or to teleport barrels (e. g. burning ground + ooze barrel = BOOM ). Read a post where someone called it "barrelmancy". These barrels have a rather large radius, better than spells sometimes.

So I guess there is no permanent skill for teleport? It must be from scrolls? Sebille is still stuck with the gloves, despite better ones coming her way. I guess the VAs were having fun being chickens. Who wouldn't give rein to bock bock bockeeee!

I guess the VAs were having fun being chickens. Who wouldn't give rein to bock bock bockeeee! Teleport is a regular spell, it's from the branch of magic of Lightning & Air.
It's very useful for sending annoying melee enemies far away from your squishy caster, preferably into fire or something. (or teleporting explosive barrels on top of your enemies...)
You can also use it to move your allies around, but keep in mind that it will damage them, and that damage scales up depending on the caster's Int stat and relevant skill/ability score. (and possibly depending on level as well)
If you want to be able to teleport allies around without damage then there's netherswap. You'll be able to even swap yourself with another person. Useful to get a DPS/tank closer to a target (and yourself away) if an enemy is too close to you and the other character is on a cool down for a gap closer.

Ok, I'll keep an eye out for the skill book. Until I do, Sebille is stuck with the gloves since I find the mobs very annoying; the boss always run and port elsewhere. Since she's an archer, she has the skill to sprout wings to get to a vantage point to inflict greater dmg but still, always better to lump the mobs together to aoe dmg from the mage or the tank. Thanks for the tips.

I'd also recommend getting tornado, useful for clearing up all hazards including necrofire.

Just started it. I feel like I'm making huge numbers of build mistakes despite having played D:OS. I'm also getting killed , but that's a learning curve I think. Crocodiles and giant frogs have both done for me so far.

Teleport skill book shows up at level 4 at related traders (i.e the ones with aerotheurge books). It's not the only "movement" skill though.
Scoundrel has Cloak&Dagger and Backlash (last one conditional) Warfare has Pheonix Dive and Battering Ram (last one can't go "up") Huntsman has Tactical retreat. Polymorph has Spread Your Wings and Bull horn (last one works similar to Battering Ram) Aerotheurge has Teleport and Nether Swap (last one swap the place of two characters) Pyrokinetic has Haste which increase your movement speed a lot Summoner has Planar Gateway (open two connected portals characters can move through)

I've seen enemies use Nether Swap but haven't found a skill book yet. Any idea who sells it or is it a high level spell (I'm around lvl 12 right now)? My main char is an enchanter, so I usually pay attention to merchants with air skill books, but maybe I'm just blind. And while I'm at it, a merchant for scoundrel skills would be nice to know, too. Should have been easy to find, guess I am blind. On another note, the quest with the chickens near Driftwood is the meanest thing in the game so far. Is there any way to get a "good" ending? I just did what I was told, but the result... and it had called me mama :sob: (nice loot, though ).

The air skill book merchant is one of the person in the square. Traders gets skill book at certain level. Nether swap might be a level 12 or 14 thing. I don't remember. Oh and there is at least 2 skill book trader for each class per "maps". Some aren't marked as traders though, you just need to click the trade button on everyone really. I even traded with characters before a fight started a few times.

The guy in the town square didn't have nether swap yet, I will check again when I've reached a higher level. Thanks for the answer .

I had a shock when I went back and I went $#@!! when it came over. And then what happened after. That was the fastest brooding btw for a chicken. It's barely 30 mins when I went by that way again. I also drew a fast one on the straw man. I innocently went up to talk at first and got the party wiped. Reloaded and took the first shot. Take that you bugger! azarhal , very useful list. thanks. I've seen recent mobs use tactical retreat but didn't come across the skill book. That's why I had Sebille use the wings skill instead.

My single biggest issue with the game are technical difficulties. After I updated the game, it doesn't work anymore. It said something about eocapp.exe not recognized and not found and the game doesn't start anymore. After attempting a fix I found on the net it deleted the eocapp.exe entirely and now I have to reinstall.
After I will solve the issue, I got somewhere to around lvl 10-11 content but I plan to restart in Tactical difficulty as the 1st playthrough had nothing planned so I ended up with points spread everywhere and not achieving much, making Sebille a glass cannon with the mindset of the first game and watching her get stunlocked for entire fights, putting too few points on persuasion on my main char and not enough on lore on Lohse. Now I have a more organized setup in my mind with going Lohse as my main char and taking Beast, Fane and Ifan with me as a Battlemage tank, Shadowblade, and Conjurer respectively, with Lohse being an enchanter with a few necromancy spells.

I am reading the reviews as they come in on Stream, and I keep getting alarmed because the game is praised for things like:
you don't have to rush to do the story! There are so many sidequests! The game is so hard!
Folks also noticing how journal is not helpful.
So, is this one of those open world games then where you have to gather everything that you come accross and experiment to solve every quest like in Prey, and combat/builds are really hard?
I just can't figure out if it's for me or not.

The game isn't that hard if you semi min-max your builds, also people don't play Explorer difficulty. The game is divided into chapters where each chapter is an open map by itself, similar to the first game. The journal? Ye... not really helpful. Kinda like the first game tbh, it doesn't tell you what to do unless the quest giver told you.

In DA:I the open maps and the main story are separated, not so in DoS2. In Bathesda games you can totally ignore the main story and just wonder aimlessly taking on tons of crypts that look the same, didn't play Prey though. DoS2 doesn't have that kind of openness, but each piece of content is more meaningful and you can complete missions with different approaches. You are encouraged to explore, but the main story by itself serves a sizable chunk of each map. Also in DoS2 you can't return to previous chapter areas. I think probably the easiest game to compare to is Neverwinter Nights original campaign but without loading screens. You have many paths which you can go, but the content is divided into chapters.

I am going to put a pin in it for a year or two. It sounds too much like an open world with less interactions I prefer, so maybe after detailed walkthroughs are available so I don't get lost, or there are mods that add banter or chars/romances, I'd give it a shot. It's still sounds far too long for my preferences.

Why haven't I thought of this? Once I've found some combos that work, I tend to stick to them for the whole game. I should really be more creative with killing. Time to chase some chickens...

It's still sounds far too long for my preferences. Well, I don't know who you are listening to, but there's plenty of interactions, and even romance.
What is it specifically that you think that this game does that you dislike?
By the sound of it, the game takes place in very large areas, where you are moving around looking for content. The overall length of the game seems to be upward of 50 hours. I cannot gain clarity on what interactions are there, but it sounds like that different characters have different responce to scenery NPCs, rather than chit-chatting among themselves, commenting on events, etc. None of it is a bad thing, just not something that appeals to me atm, because I really just don't enjoy the free roamers lik DA3 that take very long to finish, and it is not clear what to do next. I prefer something much shorter, straightforward and compact, more like Tyranny, and DA2/ME2, so I can play it fast, then replay for different interactions and outcomes.

Heh... I'll have one chicken combo to go please... (now I'm worried that Larian will teach the AI to do that as well... The AI on Tactician difficulty is really challenging as it is...) Make that two. I'll have it roasted, a ice cold drumstick wouldn't taste good. I restarted. Yes, I did once I realise I missed out on a goodly stack of spells the party should have learned. The loot is different this time round, the teleport gloves remained with the saltwater crocodiles though. I delayed Griff's quest as long as I could because this idiot refuses to back down, to get the books I needed from what's-her-name. I didn't see any teleport spell book on anybody though, even Gratiana who doesn't sell anything btw. Hopefully, I'll run into it later. Party is going to Driftwood soon.
