I've heard that if you recruit Loghain and Alistair leaves the Grey Wardens, he becomes a school principal.

For future Releases of Dragon Age I wish they would kill Alistair offical between DAI and DA4. In a twitter message at least. This character had so much retcons he has become interchangeable. This retcons began directly after release of DAO. In artworks and prereleases Alistair was an early thirties virgin and inexperienced with relationships, but a great warrior because of his age. Than he was made an early twenties, because it was said that the Alistair fans do not wanted to romance a 30 year old virgin. With this new information that Alistair is the son of a elven mother his whole background from DAO with his companion quest was screwd. And this because the fans wanted to know it better than the author of Alistair, that Fiona is the mother regardless of the conflict with Goldanna. Nowadays, with latest comics and retcons Alistair is a child of an elven mother (which is very incompetent and own retcons (Sir Jory was killed, because he did not want to be part of the Grey Wardans anymore)) and magical super powers and do not forget he has dragon blood. Oh, Last but no least, his father was still alive.
For Dragon Age it would be better to remove this very broken character.

I'm not really a huge Alistair fan so I have not seen the changes, and the cameo's he's made I hardly pay attention to them. I've also read one comic with him 'Until it Sleeps.' But what is this about dragon blood? This sounds familiar.

Alistair and Morrigan's relationship in DAO usually seems like harmless bickering and no more than that. But in the Silent Grove, what he shows is a deep hatred. Not the slightest hint of comedy in the dialogue. He literally considers Morrigan evil.

For his DAO companion quest, it is just with his adoptive family because he doesn't know who his actual mother was. That was never be said in the game. It is only one lazy writing escape to justify why we have to visit the woman in Denerim, when suddenly an female elve is the mother from Alistair. Why should Eamon keep this Medallion from his servant for Alistair? For Fiona leaving the Wardens, she was kicked out because she couldn't become a Grey Warden again. Maker, it is a wonder. Fiona is the first known Warden who had become cleaned from the blight and is resistend to this ultimate evil that threats the whole World. Nevertheless, the Grey Wardens did not wanted that Sir Jory leaves the Wardens and he was only an recruit who knows a little bit. Anders hided from the Grey Wardens, because he was afraid the Wardens could be angry. For the magical blood, it was just new information. A new information that benefits that practically explaination why Alistair could use Templar abilities without Lyrium in DAO, but we never heard this before. For his dad being alive, the world thought he was dead but actually wasn't. same reason like the magical blood. We need to solve the mysterious of the disappearance of the Heroking of Ferelden, because the community is to stupid to live with mysteries an obvious justifications without confirmationNone of those are retcons. Alistair was an early thirties virign to release and made to a early Twenties virgin after few months.

I like Alistair the way he is and never hardened him. I also never made him King because for one he does not want the crown, and two Eamon only wants him to be King so he can manipulate Alistair from behind the scenes. So I always vote Anora cause I know she would make a capable ruler. She was the brains behind Cailan after all.

Need a reminder on the Alistair romance: you don’t want to overload him with gifts, right? A couple is OK, but if you raise his approval too quickly it might wreck the romance.

It seems Alistair is unaware that many Grey Wardens are former criminals.

"Make him a Grey Warden and you cheapen us all!" It seems Alistair is unaware that many Grey Wardens are former criminals. What's problem with this. But Alistair most likely knows it well. Daveth was a criminal. Probably many warden he met were criminal. I suppose he even talked with Duncan, I don't think, he didn't speak about with him. Why do you think, he doesn't know that?

"Make him a Grey Warden and you cheapen us all!" It seems Alistair is unaware that many Grey Wardens are former criminals. Of course he's aware. It's just that he found a home with the Wardens and Duncan, and in Alistair's mind, Loghain wrecked both. He's obviously biased.

I think I did this with Leliana. I overloaded her with gifts when we first got to camp and her romance didn't trigger properly. She still kept on saying "I'm here for you" when you initiate dialogue.

One thing - is a criminal, another - traitor (and murderer) to his king and exterminator of Wardens. Loghain did not want to see Wardens restored in Ferelden, he declared them outlaws and ordered to kill the last of them (our Warden and Alistair). It's easy to understand how Alistair can not see that anti-warden among wardens.

In the graphic novels, Sten calls Alistair basalit-an.
As much as I like Alistair, I must say that was nothing but Gaider wanking his own characters. I remember that during Origins, Sten never had any respect for Alistair and was never given a reason to change his mind.

I remember that during Origins, Sten never had any respect for Alistair and was never given a reason to change his mind. The comics continuity seems to portray Alistair as being canonically hardened, so his change from a passive to more assertive attitude might have earned more of Sten's respect. In their banter, the one time that Sten shows any amount of respect for Alistair is when he stands up to him, after Sten challenges him to a duel;
Alistair: I don't have to prove anything to you, forget it. Sten: So you do have a spine... pity you don't use it.
But I suppose even if he didn't/doesn't think much of Alistair as a person, he might still respect him as a former comrade-in-arms and as a Grey Warden. And when only two Wardens successfully manage to raise an army and successfully end the Fifth Blight, against all (and frankly ridiculous) odds, that might be enough to earn some measure of respect.
That, or "Outsider worthy of respect" is a more polite way of saying "Outsider who isn't completely useless".
I would not be at all surprised if the latter was the literal translation of Basalit-an in Qunlat.

Alistair was who got me into playing Dragon Age to begin with I'm not even sure how I came across the game in the first place maybe...Youtube? I can't really remember anyway, I watched that little vid they had on the official site where he's introduced and I was like...he's cute
his first lines when introducing himself to the Warden are so funny and just basically sum up his personality "you know, one good thing about the Blight is how it brings people together" "...you're a very strange man" "you're not the first woman to tell me that"
he was the first character I romanced, after that I romanced Zevran on almost every playthrough (I'm a sucker for accents)
just recently (and for my canon world state) I went back to romancing Alistair, and I just...fell in love with this adorable dork all over again
he's sassy, he's funny...he'll have your back and lend you a shoulder when you need it, plus that scene with the rose is just adorable and I may or may not have added a few mods to make the experience even better (none of which are explicit)
