So if I post a link to here on the Bioware forums it doesn't work or it does? Hard to say. According to the tool mentioned above, it counts, but it does not work as it should. Either way, the more links - the better, especially if those are 'humane' and not 'SEO' kind of links. I was also thinking about cross-linking with the other 'splinter' forums (if their admins accept the idea).

I was personally shocked and very touched that my goodbye post hit "Popular" status. Even when I posted last week it was slowing down and now...it's a few last posters hanging in there. Despite the utter stupidity of the warnings and bans. It's pretty sad to me two of my "Popular" posts are related to this whole closure. I snipped your post down for size in my response, but I agree with all of it. I mostly just wanted to share the disappointment - the only two posts of mine that I know of that hit that gold star "popular" status were the DAIMP Resource Library (I'm sure the ME3MP Resource Library would have had it not been created back on the old forum before "likes" were a thing)... and my 10,000th post, which happened to be my "Hi, I'm back" post after my unwarranted-contested-overturned permaban on post 9,999. Two posts. One a helpful index... and the other celebrating my no longer being permabanned during the BioMod raids of the last days. What's happening over there is insanity, pure and simple.

I got a popular one for a tweet I quoted Anyway I'm doing my bit to spread the word. I've stuck a link and message to this forum on my Sig in another forum (although I doubt you'll get any click throughs from there)I'm not as prolific a poster as I used to be on there (plus the place is a bit dead). But I do what I can to boost it by sneaky linkings. Plus if I find good topics I like on here I'll tweet a few links from them.

BioWare used to be more than a game company to me. I always felt that it had it's own identity and sense of community that separated itself from it's publisher. I was so damn naive. I guess you're never too old to have someone/something on a pedestal. I suppose I did. Lesson learned, bitter pill swallowed. Congrats, even though it's bittersweet. I was wondering if it would get that far. I said something similar just yesterday in the closure thread to Lady Artifice, and I'll say it again here: It must be quite disheartening to have that pedestal break. Personally, I've had years to do get used to being disappointed with them. I've had bad experiences with most Bioware employees, exceptions generally being the MP people. So I'm sorry, but also not sorry in a sense, since you "learned a lesson". If that makes sense And welcome to the disillusioned-fan club, ha I'll try, though I don't have much of an online presence. Well, for gaming related stuff anyway. So, what would it take for this forum to show up on the first page of google when someone types in a question? Like 'Make Leliana Divine' or 'Harden Alistair' or 'Should I cure the genophage?'. Currently BSN is top for all of that, followed by other sites (which usually don't have as good of an answer). That's how I found BSN, asking those type of questions. Would it be as simple as making threads with very clear titles like that and us all contributing to them, or is a lot more required? Well as long as you don't accidentally click the Images tab while searching that, you'll probably be okay Or maybe you'll be okay if you do, I don't know.I'm pretty burned out and disheartened. I don't want to go back. There is a particular poster that's harassed me over little things like asterisks in the past. I'm not giving him an excuse to indulge in his favorite interest in reporting people. Ugh, what some bastards will do to prove a point.I'm about to go out of town on a much needed mini-vacation, but I'll dig up my Twitter password and do what I can when I get back on Sunday night. I may know who you're talking about But perhaps not. Enjoy your break!

Two posts. One a helpful index... and the other celebrating my no longer being permabanned during the BioMod raids of the last days. What's happening over there is insanity, pure and simple. It's very hard to get 50 likes on something, isn't it? At least, I haven't seen very many "popular" posts in my time, even from you guys. I somehow have 2, one saying it made sense that (Trespasser spoiler) Bull can turn on you in Trespasser (which honestly surprised mean as I didn't think it was anything that special ) and one telling Bioware they better not kill the Inquisitor no matter what in Trespasser. Anyway, I partly blame the fact that people had to conserve likes on BSN Prime for it being so hard. There have been a couple on the closure thread, but I feel like there would have been a lot more (some have 45+) if they closed during a peak instead of a lull, and if they didn't try to bury that thread. 50 is a nice round number, but a bit high for something to be considered "popular" on that board, I thought. 30 would have been better. And yes, it is insanity over there. Edit: Forgot to say that I added this forum into my signature on BSN Prime. Hope it does some good.

I've noticed one problem. On "bioware forums" google doesn't give this site nor on first nor on second page. I'm no expert in google bots, but maybe you could use words "bioware forums" somewhere? you mean, like, in a metatag?

I'm no expert in google bots, but maybe you could use words "bioware forums" somewhere? you mean, like, in a metatag? Yeah, I thought Google had dialled back the weight given to back links? The group that looks after my company's website SEO said it was meta tags and other bits that really drive the search rankings. I'll try and remember to give him a call tomorrow, but as a start, something like the following might help... BSN: the fans of Bioware forums Then for the main sections BSN: the fans of Dragon Age (Mass Effect) forums It can look however you like, as long as it is done via formatting. I.e. As long as the code is typed in a full sentence, the Google bots will read it as such, and rank it for searches of Bioware forums etc etc.

This is a really bittersweet moment for me. After two years of trying, I finally got my husband talked into the ME series. He could use my Origin account, but it isn't comfortable for him to play at his computer. Even with a controller. So we grabbed it for the PS3 and ME1 is about done installing.
The sweet part is seeing how Sasquatch enjoys the ME series. We're both avid gamers, but our tastes rarely overlap. The only BW game we've shared was ToR. He fell in love with the storytelling, the choices and he even did the romance on his female Bounty Hunter. Also, he doesn't play the same way I would, so that's going to be neat.
The bitter part is that the BWF is why I'm doing this at all. It's why I've spent since June of '14 trying to get him into this. I'm also going to go through the Cerberus Network to get the ME2 DLC. Since it's going to get pricey, I'll do that once we get through ME1. I'm willing to spend the money to get the series plus some on a second platfom.
And the forum heads think the forums were a useless waste of money and a pit of negativity. Shame.

I bought DAO used at a game store because the back of the box sounded interesting. I loved it, wanted to talk about it, Google searched, found the forums, and my interaction on the forums led me to purchasing Mass Effect... and then every other BioWare game since then, including trying some of the older ones. The forums are literally responsible for all the other brand new game purchases I made with BioWare. Had they not been there, it may have simply ended with buying the one used game from which they made no money.

I would never have even considered trying ME if the ppl in the Dragon Age forums hadn't kept going on about blue babies and some chick called Miranda. A year later I own all 3 games, every DLC and both Library Editions of the comics. BioWare has made a bit of money of me, more than any other developer, and a huge portion of that is directly due to the forums.

I found the old forums after trying, and miserably failing at ME3MP.
The MP forum was extraordinarily helpful to the learning curve.
When MEA kicks off, particularly the MP, how do we facilitate those seeking help to find their way here?
Search engine links obviously, but if not possible, then besides twitter/reddit/facebook etc, what's next?
Links in comments below Youtube how-to vids?
Wikia references?
I believe that the more that get here, the merrier.

A few things: Eshaye, thanks for having us in your thoughts, it that kind of help that really works long term. and, Spectr61 I think you are spot on. Members have been mostly refugees so far, but as our google ranking improves, and it is, we need to be ready to welcome people new to Mass Effect.

Now appearing top of 2nd page of google search for "Bioware Forums". Not bad for - what - a little over a month? Yep, we're getting there. This is our 'journey' to 5% visibility. The BioWare Forum still has 60% visibility. So a lot still to do

A few weeks of gentle "SEO' has been under way. Is our forum any easier to find on Google for you, now? Any other places where fans of BioWare IP discussion go, that we should go and say 'hi' to?

Well, I can share from my story that the way I found BSN-2 is by following modding tutorials on prime. I learned there that prime was being shut down and found a way here.
As for people who may consider joining...
FANDOMS ! People have a lot of fan relations towards the NPCs like Tali'Zorah and have gone to make their mega-threads and own forums back then, most of which are dying in the Prime zone or off-prime freeboards. So finding a way to appeal the fan crowd may be a strategy.
As for Google, I have not seen any relevant improvement to feedbacks from BSN-2, but that is because mostly as a person I am not searching for the location of the whole forum rather than a specific topic.
So the idea of changing signatures on Prime to "The BSN Migrant Fleet" would be the only salvageable strategy I can see now.

Just appeared on the first page of a "Bioware Forums" search.
2nd page for "Dragon Age Forums"
And wow - 3rd on first page for "Mass Effect Forums"
Well done. This was using a web browser in a signed out state that has never visited this site on a laptop I have at work.
